  1. I've been incessantly updating my character Pith the Pyromancer and ran into a few problems. My character mod, Pith the Pyromancer, was created just a few weeks before DST ROG came out. Later I updated him so he can be played in Reign of Giants. A few errors have occurred which I have been eagerly trying to fix. But this one leaves me stumped. In the normal DST Pith takes rain damage similar to WX-78, however I realized WX-78's coding is different in ROG compared to the original. I tried to look in the forums to see if the same problem occurred for someone else and found nothing. So, I'm looking for a code that I can simply paste in. I need to know which file, and which section inside the file. Thanks for your help.
  2. For Don't Starve Together, I have a recipe, as a part of character mod.   4. Since everything seems to work fine let me introduce: Wakkari the Red Fox and Wayrra the Arctic Fox for DST Wakkari is a member of south fox tribe from far away lands. One feral day he get's dragged to Maxwell's world, during tribal event - Festival of Ancient Spirits, together with Wayrra the Arctic Fox of northern tribe. WAKKARI HP: 200, Hunger: 150, Sanity: 170 *Runs a bit faster *Can eat monster meat and spoiled meat *Can build up hound mound (which can be disadvatage is used uncarefully) *Eats only meat *Beefalo's hates him (probably for eating them...) WAYRRA HP: 140, Hunger: 150, Sanity: 210 *Freezes slower during winter *Can eat monster meat and spoiled meat *Can build create Sanity Orb, which increases sanity for fixed period of time *Eats only meat *Beefalos hate her *Has her own weapon - Orb Staff *Loves spiders... for dinner (gains a tiny amount of sanity by killing them) __________________________________ Note: both Wakkari and Wayrra arts are my own creations, not based on any other art/cartoons/books/movies etc. Since there have been few questions - I would like to NOT see their art beeing used for different character mods here, mainly because they are part of bigger projects, not related with Don't Starve game series.   7. I'm trying to give my custom character a new statistic, which I refer to as stress. This character is a tank that does light aoe damage for the purpose of staggering enemies and drawing aggro. In order to function against swarms of enemies, she has to be resistant to being staggered herself. By staggered I'm referring to the hit animation that interrupts whatever you were doing when you take damage. Now, I'm not asking how to change the hit state. I've made a custom stategraph that is a duplicate of SGWilson and commented out the line that starts this state, and it works properly. What I want to do is give this character a 'stress' stat that counts the amount of damage taken in a short period of time, and allows her to be staggered if it goes too high. It will be an int that is constantly draining the way hunger does. Thus, if she takes a lot of damage in a very short amount of time, she will be affected. This is meant to work for both huge swarms of enemies, and for enemies that have very high damage (deerclops). I've declared the new variable as 'local stress = 0' in the character prefab, but I'm not sure where to go from there. My assumption is that I would use DoTaskPeriodically() to lower the stat, but I don't really know how it works or where it is in the code, or if there's a better way for dealing with something that's just an integer.
  8. I know DST doesn't have ROG yet, but I want to put this part in the code for both - DS and DST. It's about to fix character freezing during winter, but not overheating during summer (more less like Wilson's beard, which won't kill him in summer ) Goes in char.lua: inst:WatchWorldState("startday", function(inst) if TheWorld.state.issummer then inst.components.temperature.inherentinsulation = 0 endend) inst:WatchWorldState("startday", function(inst) if TheWorld.state.iswinter then inst.components.temperature.inherentinsulation = 125 endend)Game starts. But when character enters the world such error appears, saying that WorldWatchState is a nil value... in everything.. DST and DS and ROG. I more less know what a nil value is, but just no idea how to fix that here :/
  9. The premise is turning this lovely lady into a character mod. You may know her as either Maxwell's assistant Charlie, or as the night monster, the Grue. Perks/Powers: Dark Charlie (DC)- Gothic looking CharlieGruesome Charlie (GC) - Not sure maybe Cruela devil'esq?Grue - Non playable basically reach this and loose (full monster, would just need a short transformation animation)As for powers: I would have each phase handle insanity differently where NC in general goes insane faster, DC has normal sanity loss and GC takes about half value in sanity loss. Then have follower mechanics where depending on which charlie you are at make it so that NC would have an easy time befriending nice creatures and perhaps make the duration last longer. DC would befriend as normal. for GC nice creatures would be naturally hostile to you but nasty creatures like mermen and shadows would be neutral and be able to be befriended.   16. Hello, I wanted to ask two questions: 1 Are there any tutorials of making placable item? (like science machine, campfire, walls, chest etc. etc.) 2. If I have mod for Don't Starve ready, what changes are crucial to make it work in DS Together? -mainly for ITEM because my character seems working fine!   17. Hello, creatures that are reading this! I need help with making my character mod for Don't Starve. I've already got all the stuff in the mod sorted out. But, the one thing I need is art for the mod. My art skills are terrible, but I want the mod to not look terrible. I want my character to look similar to my account picture. I was also wanting to make mods for my friends too. Please if anyone wants to help let me know. And of course, the artist will get their credit and recognition for their art.
  18. Hello, I'm working on a custom sleeping item, and I'm not quite sure how to go about making the art. I'm basing it on the bedroll : And this is my (very rough) concept art: I'm wondering how the game will accept it, as I haven't gotten the actual mod working and am unable to test it, so I figured I'd just ask about how it works in theory. Will I be fine if I just replace the art within some sort of accepted area? Is there any way to expand the area? Im interested in expanding the area, because the concept art is not my first choice of animation, it's just what I came up with in the limited amount of space I assume I have to work with. Any input is appreciated!
  19. So I was looking through the steam workshop and I happen to notice a problem with one of the character mods, It seemed to be crashing for players and himself. I had contacted him further to see what the problem was and he had told me "Upon trying to load it in, it automatically crashes." I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix problems like this for a character or on how to code and fully work a character and put it into DST. I also have a screenshot that might also be able to help with this problem but might also be useless. (but better trying then not right?)

  21. Hey, I kept seeing really cool character mods on the steam workshop, but I'm not very good at designing graphics for characters and items and also coding. So I thought why not see if anyone on the Klei forums could help me make this character I really wanted for DST. Under this text is all the information on the character on how he looks like, his name and what stats and buffs/de-buffs he should have in the game. If some of these options have to be scraped or changed a bit while making it then that's fine too, But I would like a character like this. Name: Drake Nickname: The Vampire Hunter Motto: This world shall shine once more. Health: 120 Sanity: 160 Hunger: 150 Perks/Buffs: Starts with Lighter x2 faster De-buffs: Low Health/Sanity/Hunger What he looks like: Hair: Black spikey hair Head: Goggles Skin: Pale skin Eyes: Green/Emerald eyes Clothing: Red trench coat w/ Golden buttons Background Story: Drake is a well known legendary vampire hunter until one day he had went missing. He had woken up to only to find his lighter next to him as he looked up to a portal that was as bright as a star but the light had disappeared. Drake thought his hope was gone until he had looked around him, he had to survive and make sure he could get back to his homeland in time before it is destroyed by vampires.

I played this game during the BETA, long before it was available to everyone on Steam... thus, long before the tons of characters and content, and the purchasable expansion, and before the whole multiplayer thing was even mentioned, let alone thought possible. I was always obsessed with studying and collecting information about a strange world that was exotic, deadly, and unexplored. In the time I've played I've discovered many unique things about quite a few of the characters, creatures, relics, and then some. I thought I'd make this thread simply to put together everything I'd discovered. Other people are also welcome to add things to this thread, but please keep theories and rumors to a low, it would be nice to just have things we have complete certainty on, rather than people making up stuff and then arguing because no side has proof on what is true. So... this thread will have me, and others, posting what has been discovered as fact about the odd dimension the player's character is sucked into, and what exactly is discovered about each character, as well as each form of life and mysterious object found. We might eventually run out of facts, and need to rely on updates as well as things mentioned from Klei. We also may eventually need to make use of even more cryptic methods of learning, such as the rare symbols and letters seen in every trailer Klei makes and hides them in. Hopefully we will spread light on things. And please... if something is a spoiler to a critical part of the storyline and or game progression, make sure that you warn people of it being so and properly make it as such.

Now, me, personally, as far as roleplays go, I think I have the spelling and grammar good, but...to be perfectly honest, I'm having problems with actually getting down some solid character ideas for the roleplay. Ones that seem fair and balanced, yet interesting in their own special ways. Which is why i'd like to call this a "Character Smelting" thread. A thread that exists to give myself(and anyone else who wants to), the chance to propose some character ideas, and get a little bit of professional opinion into whether it would be an acceptable character in a rp(aka, not stupid and ridiculous, not godmode, and not TOO OP.). Now, to start this off, perhaps I will throw in my first idea. I'll be using a template, but you don't HAVE to if you don't want to. Template: Name: Race: Male/Female Abilities/Disadvantages: Personality Traits: Other Notables: Okay, here's the first one. Name: Clarice Race: Human Female Abilities: -Can stay warmer during winter -Can produce red gems easily Disadvantages: -Scares quite easily -Is weak -Is Fragile -Can't stand stale or spoiled food -Has trouble with sleeping Anyone else with feedback can post freely. Anyone who would like to join in on the smelting is also welcome.
  25. Hello, I recently finished my first mod ( still in progress though). This is a character named Hed, the Bodyless Horseman. Hed is a character who is rather weak, and starts out with lower stats, but as his sanity goes down, he grows slightly stronger. Additionally, he gains bonus perks from the undead and not living, and his followers are much more loyal and tough.
