So by those that don't know (pretty much most if not all, bless my inability to be so present to the forums) I tend to draw, quite a lot, mostly for art practicing, others to pass the time, and so and so, and of course, being in Don't Starve, I have been drawing that for a while, buuuut there is a thing, I kind of...don't have many ideas to draw other characters THIS is why this topic is here! "oh but what do you mean by that?" WEEEELLL I kind of tend to draw Wilson... A LOT... like... and most of the times, it goes into my own, weird ideas So yeah, does anyone have any situation ideas or just, any random suggestion without I could draw any character that is not, well, Wilson?
  2. Hey, all! Maximo is all updated and is working on the Klei Don't Starve Together Workshop!!! Maximo Elias Prole on the Workshop! Thank you Halfrose and ImDaMisterL!!!! So, so, so much! The following is what was happening and is now resolved! What was happening: Hey all! I keep getting this error that pops up on the screen with my mod that I have created, now it is still in its testing stage so I just want to be sure all the animation and stuff is still working in the mod. Unfortunately, I continuously get this warning and it won't let me start the game at all without disabling his mod and stuff. I am willing to offer up all the coding and everything so that someone can help me. Any help is greatly appreciated! [[UPDATE as of February 7th 2016 at 4:57 in the morning!]] OKAY I've decided to completely redo everything but leave all my art assets so that I can easily put them into a new folder! I used another mod that simply added a character and did nothing special and have edited all the art so far (I messed up where I'm positioning his face and now all of his facial expressions don't line up very well with one another--my own artist error!) and he is working fine! Once I change all the file names from the other name to "maximo" and everything to "MAXIMO" and such I will update on how it's going! Otherwise, look here! [[UPDATED AGAIN Feb 7 5 something in the morning]] Okay, the game just crashed. I didn't even get to the character select screen this time. The game just came up with a dialog box that said I had to check the log. I don't know where that is right now, so yeah... I'm gonna go through and double check files and stuff. Hhhh.
  3. Hey, I am doing improvements to my custom dwarven character named Skyminer. I was trying to add three prefabs -Wooden mug [Done] (Plays role in the crafting recipe) -Dwarven tonic -Dwarven Ale I got stuck on the second one I was trying to make it so that when Skyminer ''eats'' the dwarven tonic that it will inflict him with nightvision for a specific amount of time and replaces the dwarven tonic with an empty wooden mug. That was the idea, It doesn't crash the game at the moment but I am not sure if the nightvision works but I am sure that the "Replacement" of the tonic isn't working. This with Dyricefox's tutorial seems the most promising. I also referenced several different threads that lead me to these other ones. I didn't save all of them, but the ones listed above were the most helpful.[Custom Character] Link, The Hero! by TheDanaAddams This links directly to the comment I referenced to get the custom text color.Also, when lua coding becomes a little more familiar to you, looking into the character's prefab lua files is a great way to learn and understand how different perks work. Lure's fire damage is a reverse coding of Willow's, and the healing in the rain is a reverse of WX's code. This post will be edited to updated new content and information! I should mention as a disclaimer that I am not a professional modder, coder, or anything like that. Its why I'm documenting all the work I do, because I'm completely new to all of this and want others who are new to be able to follow this process with their own mod. When the mod is complete, it will be uploaded like any normal character mod, but I will also release a separate one with all the files and clutter that I used to create Lure. I want to be as open source about this as possible! Feel free to use this thread to ask anything about Lure and the coding that is this mod. DO NOT use this thread to ask about your specific mod.   6. Hi Community! A while ago I made an Ornithologist character for DST, while she was ok (and my first mod) now I wish to give her an overhaul with new abilities and art. So, I was wondering if anybody knew: 1. What would be a good MINOR resistance to the temperature. (Like small insulation, small cooling? Less damage taken from cold and heat/fire?) 2. If anybody knew how to code ^ perk so that it would activate while an item was in your inventory. 3. The same as No. 2 but with extra speed and damage respectively instead? 4. Suggestions, I want to re-make this character, so any suggestions will also be helpful! Thanks! Edit: I do have a small knowledge of coding, however adding the resistance, speed or damage is out of my league.
  7. I'm creating a character with the following perk: *Eats a lot, but not often. For this, I have doubled the characters max hunger and decreased the hunger rate by 25%. To compensate, I want him to receive 25% less hunger from anything he eats. I've tried the following ways to accomplish this: The 'oneat' function (doesn't affect the actual eating, just fires when performed) Editing the GetHunger function (affected all characters despite the clause) see: http://forums.kleien...etables-values/ Editing the 'Eat' function.   8. Guts Guts is the main protagonist of Berserk. He was the former raid unit leader of a mercenary group known as the Band of the Hawk. Nickname - The 100 manslayer, The Black Swordsman Quotes - "I'd rather fight for my life than live it." (Episode 19) "My love for you is like a truck... Berserkerrrrrr. Do you want to making ****...Berserkerrrrr.......Berserkerrrrrrrrr!" (Anime Outtakes) "Grrrrriiiiffffiiiiisssssuuuuuuu!!!!!" Biography Being born from a bloody situation and forced into a life of violence, Guts had hardly any time to live like a normal child. While he experienced moments of happiness and joy, his true passion was warped into desiring the fight, mostly to gain Gambino's favor and later to satisfy his own fighting abilities. After successfully killing the first person he would in a list of thousands, Guts tempered himself to become stronger and know how to hold his sword, eventually building a strong and very personal relationship with the blade he wields. During his time with the Band of the Hawk, Guts had also told Casca that he was only ever happy when wielding his sword. As a child he attempted to make something of a family between his adoptive mother and father, though the former was struck by an illness, dying early on and the latter rarely gave his approval despite how much Guts desired it. Seeing Gambino and Shisu as his adoptive parents, Guts has never thought about his birth parents, putting Gambino as the closest thing he had to a father despite the mercenary leader's attempt to kill him. Guts sinks into depression after accidentally killing Gambino in self-defense, with only himself left as a reminder of his early life. Stats Health - 250 "Guts is seen by many as the personification of endurance and human willpower. Somehow Guts always manages to survive, even risking his life needlessly, as long as it was a risk that lay along a path to victory." Hunger - 150 Sanity - 100 "Beneath the outer layers of his personality the regret, the longing, the emotional distance, is an insatiable anger and blood lust that cannot hope to be tamed nor satisfied." Disadvantages 1. Cant sleep at night When the night arrives sanity monsters will spawn (the maximum are 3 at a time) and will try to kill Guts, even if he has full sanity. They are drawn to his Mark of Sacrifice. They are weaker versions of the shadow creatures (only 100 Health and 10 damage) and won´t drop anything after death, besides 5 points of sanity. They will vanish when the night is over, so you can only sleep during the day in Siesta Lean-tos. If his sanity is to low, the normal sanity monsters will also hunt him, so he has to run or fight through the night. 2. Restricted sight Because he has lost his right eye, 15% of the right part of the screen is dark. 3. Insanity If his sanity gets lower than 10 points, his inner hell hound takes over his mind and you can´t distinguish creatures (pigs, rabbits, catcoons, bees) from shadow creatures. Everything will look like Crawling Horrors and Terrorbeaks and you won´t know if you are fighting a Terrorbeak or a bee. 4. One-handed He has severed his left arm, so he has 3 itemslots fewer than other characters. Advantages 1. Hits like a Truck Has a 1.25x Damage Multiplier. (like Wigfrid) "By his late teens, Guts is seen wielding a sword three times larger and three times heavier than a standard great sword." 2. Dragonslayer Can craft his own sword, the Dragonslayer. Damage - 61 (200 uses/durability) Crafting - Shadow Manipulator 13x - Cut Stones3x - Living Logs15x - Nightmare Fuel - Can be repaired with Nightmare Fuel. (1 Fuel repaires 25 uses/durability)- Will slow every character by 50% down, except Guts. "It was originally created by the blacksmith Godo at the request of an ill king, who wanted a weapon capable of slaying a dragon. The king later wanted to hang Godo, because no man was strong enough to wield that heavy piece of iron." 3. Berserker Armor Can craft his own armor, the Berserker Armor. Durability 1000 HPAbsorbs 90% of physical Damage Crafting - Shadow Manipulator 1x - Night Armor10x - Cut Stones15x - Nightmare Fuel - When down to 50 HP (5% durability) the wearer will start to loose health points 1.25 points per second (the same amount of freezing damage) and the Berserker Armor will heal itself with your blood, until it has 250 HP (25%) of its durability back.- You can also heal the armor with Nightmare Fuel. (1 Fuel heals 50 HP (5% durability))- When Guts health is lower than 25 points, he will loose his mind. His sanity will drop instantly to 0 and he will gain a 2.5x Damage Multiplier (only 2.0x without the mechanical arm), he will be the strongest character in the game, (Mighty Wolfgang has 2.0x) but completly insane and almost dead.His head will be consumed by the Berserker Armor and will look like a hell hound, that means he can´t wear any headgear in that state.- If he gets his health to atleast 25 points back, he will reclaim his mind and heals his sanity until it reaches 15 points, his Damage Multiplier will drop to the normal value again. "The Berserker Armor is a cursed suit of Armor which gives the wearer incredible strength, endurance and the ability not to feel pain. It does this by allowing its users to bypass the natural subconscious limits that prevent them from injuring themselves when using their full strength. It can temporarily fix injuries by binding bleeding wounds, reinforcing broken bones, and fixing dislocated joints, piercing the flesh from within the Armor with thin barbs and spikes if required." 4. Boom-handed? Can craft his own mechanical arm, the Cannon Arm. Crafting - Alchemy Engine 4x - Electrical Doodads4x - Pig Skin1x - Rope - You will gain 3 additional itemslots (so you will have the same amount like every other character)- You will boost your Damage Multiplier to 1.5x, because you will swing your weapons now with both hands.- You can fire cannonballs.- When crafted, the arm will be part of Guts body and can´t be unequiped, it has unlimited durability and won´t appear as an item in the itemslots. Cannonball Damage - 300 Crafting - Alchemy Engine 1x - Gunpowder1x - Moon Rock - You will use it like a blowdart.- The cannonballs will stack up to 10.- Of course you need the Cannon Arm to fire the Cannonball. "The Cannon Arm parts was first found by Rickert and Erica in Godo's warehouse. It replaces Guts left arm, which he lost during the Eclipse, the hand hides a small magnet in order to better handle the Dragonslayer, and above all it hides a cannon that many times saved the life of the Black Swordsman.As it is a mechanical weapon, Guts must regularly maintain it with gunpowder and ammunition." 5. Healthy bugs He can heal his wounds with Fireflys. A Firefly will heal 20 health, he will also speak with them, but most of the time he only insult them. "One of Puck's more useful abilities is his ability to produce elf dust, which naturally sloughs off his wings. Elf dust has healing properties, greatly accelerating the average human's healing process and soothing pain almost immediately. He also possesses the ability to emanate light. 6. Waterproof As it begins to rain, Guts will hood himself with his cape. The cape is part of his clothes and won´t loose durability, it can´t be unequiped. It has a water resistance of 50%. On the verge of death, she chose to allow Alucard to turn her into a vampire. Serving beneath Alucard, she now works for the Hellsing Organization and deals with the consequences of her decision.'' Project background and goal I've always liked Seras character from the Hellsing Anime, and in a game like Don't Starve where all characters seem to be going off the edge in one way or another, Seras as a reluctant human-turned-blood-sucking-monster seemed oddly fitting. I will focus on making Seras fun to play more than ''balanced'', with this meaning that playing Seras should be a different experience from playing other characters in don't starve. Playing her is meant to be challenging in its own way. Attributes Health: 260/60* Stomach: 150 Sanity: 120 Damage: x2.0/x0.4* *highest at night when full, lowest at day while starved. Features • Power changes by day/dusk/night • Power changes depending on hunger. Starved/hungry/full. Gets hungry faster when full. • Character model changes depending on power (5 models) • Regenerate hp at night (when not starved). • Night vision. • Sanity loss while starved. • Cold resistant (insulation). • Affected by full moon. • Can only eat meat-type items. Partially meaty food such as meatballs have reduced effect. • Takes no damage eating monster meat, but still loses sanity • Unique speech text. • Unique craftables. • Tweaking, polishing and extra testing. (In other words: more to come) Upcoming changes • More features to come soon! • Unique ghost • Currently I haven't figured out how to do custom recipe tabs, so everyone can craft the implemented unique items until then. Tips and tricks General survival 1. Seras is very weak during the day, especially when hungry. Avoid all confrontation with enemies when possible during the day. Even a few frogs can be dangerous to a starved Seras during the day. 2. Seras has night vision and she is extremely strong during the night as long as she is above 60 hunger. You can use this time to kill spiders, beefalo, werepigs and other dangerous opponents with relative ease. 3. Caves are considered constant night, and since Seras excels at nightly adventures you should not hesitate to explore the lands underground. 4. Seras' unique weapon is quite affordable and has the same power as a tentacle spike. It drains Seras own health when used though, so using it during the day or when starved is not recommended. 5. You may want to sleep through the full moon. Dealing with hunger and health 1. Seras cannot eat non-meat food, but this does not stop you from using this food as bait for tasty animals. It is a good idea to create a large number of traps with bait near rabbit holes to get a stable source of meat early on. 2. Seras does not take health damage from eating damaging food. This means that spiders and the like are a passable source of meat. When you can create monster jerky and have some sanity improving clothes you can use monsters as your primary source of food. 3. If Seras stomach is filled above 145 she will become somewhat more powerful but drain hunger quickly until she goes below 130. She drains hunger even faster during the day while in this state. An advantage is that she will slowly regenerate health during the evening and night while in this state. 4. Seras slowly regenerates health at night while above 60 hunger. Since caves are considered constant night you can use caves to get your health up when no other health restoration is available. 5. When cooking try to stick to cooking ''meaty'' recipes such as Meaty stew, Honey ham, Bacon and eggs with the crock pot. Less meaty recipes have reduced effect on Seras. Update Log: 1.6 First steam version 1.7 • Added 4 new character apperance dependant on power • Rebalanced hunger • Increased night vision radius • Added full moon effect. His attire is that of a once proud clockmaker, paying attention to each individual detail and mechanical spring that went into each of his watches. Perhaps he attempted to figure out how this world worked similar to his clocks. However he was not up to the task as the world broke his mind and left him a different person alltogether. Zack feel's like he is in a neverending nightmare, that he is simply dreaming a dream that will never end. And that he has dreamed it for so long that he has become lucid of his dream and as such has control over it. While control isn't exactly what he has, he has something. Zack apparently believes that there is no such thing as sleep, as sleeping only brings you to another world, as such he see's tents as portals rather than places of rest. That much being said, it appears that the more sane he is, the less likely that bad things happen to him. He often times has people refer to him by the name Wizz, as for some reason the name feels safer to have. Perks-Nightmare AttunedZack has a strange attunement with nightmare fuel, his apparent "lucid" state makes it so that he is increasingly effective with weapons and armor that were made with nightmare fuel. -Knows when danger is nearZack spawns in with a watch, while to most player's it appears like a normal unusual watch, when Zack looks at it, he can see the exact day that the hound attack will happen. This action requires him to use up nightmare fuel from his inventory. When the hound attacks aren't the primary concern, Zack can choose to infuse nightmare fuel into the watch and turn it into a strange looking clock themed crown. This crown apparently frightens the nightmare creatures around zack, causing them to fight more slowly. However this effect only lasts as long as Zack is sane, which means this crown is primarily useful for when your friends are insane, not you. Also, only Zack should ever wear the crown, you have been warned. -Nightmare ForgeDue to his incredibly weak prowess with normal weaponry, Zack can imbue certain weapons and armor with nightmare fuel, making them suitable for his use. This equipment isn't much better than normal equipment, but it's equipment that Zack no longer suffer's a penalty for. Each piece that Zack decides to upgrade requires a piece of nightmare fuel. Here is a list of equipment Zack can imbue, along with the modifer he gets for equipping it. Night Spear: 1x damageNight Boomerang: 2x damageNight Blowdart: 2x damageWereball helmet: 4% extra damage absorbtion, 50% extra durabilityNight Marble: 4% extra damage absorbtion, 50% extra durability Additionally, upon reaching the shadow manipulator, Zack can create a very powerful weapon, however it should never be used. EVER... I mean it, don't do it. DisadvantagesIf Zack is wielding any weapons or armor that are not made with nightmare fuel, he wields the weapons at half damage, and the armor with 20% less damage absorption. This leave's him either using a lot more resources to create standard weapons, or relying on other alternative non-combat methods until he crafts his stronger arsenal. Additionally, the shadows don't like him very much... At all.   13. I've tried using inst.components.talker:IgnoreAll(), and this works for the most part, however after certain actions my character is able to talk again. An example is after waking up from using a telelocator staff. Does anyone know a code to truly make a character silent?

  15. I've been incessantly updating my character Pith the Pyromancer and ran into a few problems. My character mod, Pith the Pyromancer, was created just a few weeks before DST ROG came out. Later I updated him so he can be played in Reign of Giants. A few errors have occurred which I have been eagerly trying to fix. But this one leaves me stumped. In the normal DST Pith takes rain damage similar to WX-78, however I realized WX-78's coding is different in ROG compared to the original. I tried to look in the forums to see if the same problem occurred for someone else and found nothing. So, I'm looking for a code that I can simply paste in. I need to know which file, and which section inside the file. Thanks for your help.

One feral day he get's dragged to Maxwell's world, during tribal event - Festival of Ancient Spirits, together with Wayrra the Arctic Fox of northern tribe. WAKKARI HP: 200, Hunger: 150, Sanity: 170 *Runs a bit faster *Can eat monster meat and spoiled meat *Can build up hound mound (which can be disadvatage is used uncarefully) *Eats only meat *Beefalo's hates him (probably for eating them...) WAYRRA HP: 140, Hunger: 150, Sanity: 210 *Freezes slower during winter *Can eat monster meat and spoiled meat *Can build create Sanity Orb, which increases sanity for fixed period of time *Eats only meat *Beefalos hate her *Has her own weapon - Orb Staff *Loves spiders... for dinner (gains a tiny amount of sanity by killing them) __________________________________ Note: both Wakkari and Wayrra arts are my own creations, not based on any other art/cartoons/books/movies etc. Since there have been few questions - I would like to NOT see their art beeing used for different character mods here, mainly because they are part of bigger projects, not related with Don't Starve game series.   21. I'm trying to give my custom character a new statistic, which I refer to as stress. This character is a tank that does light aoe damage for the purpose of staggering enemies and drawing aggro. In order to function against swarms of enemies, she has to be resistant to being staggered herself. By staggered I'm referring to the hit animation that interrupts whatever you were doing when you take damage. Now, I'm not asking how to change the hit state. I've made a custom stategraph that is a duplicate of SGWilson and commented out the line that starts this state, and it works properly. What I want to do is give this character a 'stress' stat that counts the amount of damage taken in a short period of time, and allows her to be staggered if it goes too high. It will be an int that is constantly draining the way hunger does. Thus, if she takes a lot of damage in a very short amount of time, she will be affected. This is meant to work for both huge swarms of enemies, and for enemies that have very high damage (deerclops). I've declared the new variable as 'local stress = 0' in the character prefab, but I'm not sure where to go from there. My assumption is that I would use DoTaskPeriodically() to lower the stat, but I don't really know how it works or where it is in the code, or if there's a better way for dealing with something that's just an integer.

It's about to fix character freezing during winter, but not overheating during summer (more less like Wilson's beard, which won't kill him in summer ) Goes in char.lua: inst:WatchWorldState("startday", function(inst) if TheWorld.state.issummer then inst.components.temperature.inherentinsulation = 0 endend) inst:WatchWorldState("startday", function(inst) if TheWorld.state.iswinter then inst.components.temperature.inherentinsulation = 125 endend)Game starts. But when character enters the world such error appears, saying that WorldWatchState is a nil value... in everything.. DST and DS and ROG. I more less know what a nil value is, but just no idea how to fix that here :/
  23. The premise is turning this lovely lady into a character mod. You may know her as either Maxwell's assistant Charlie, or as the night monster, the Grue. Perks/Powers: Dark Charlie (DC)- Gothic looking CharlieGruesome Charlie (GC) - Not sure maybe Cruela devil'esq?Grue - Non playable basically reach this and loose (full monster, would just need a short transformation animation)As for powers: I would have each phase handle insanity differently where NC in general goes insane faster, DC has normal sanity loss and GC takes about half value in sanity loss. Then have follower mechanics where depending on which charlie you are at make it so that NC would have an easy time befriending nice creatures and perhaps make the duration last longer. DC would befriend as normal. for GC nice creatures would be naturally hostile to you but nasty creatures like mermen and shadows would be neutral and be able to be befriended.
