  1. Well, most of the community is asking for wx 78 rework lately. This is so true- his gameplay feels a bit of boring because the only one perk being to upgrade him with gears that give him flat stat boost and the ability to charge with lightning which is not always possible. I would hereby suggest some points that would fit the needs of most players by keeping his gameplay fair and fun. WX-78 gets a new tab- the programs tab. WX-78 can now craft programming station that allows him to create programs that fits his needs. The installed programs last forever but only a maximum of 3 programs can be installed out of the following. 1.Machine upgrade program(costs 5 gears) This program upgrades his basic health, hunger and sanity stats, similar to his perk. 2. Efficient component efficiency program(costs 4 gears and a yellow gem) Allows WX to mine, chop and attack with 1.33x rate the normal. A rather interesting and effective program. 3. Emergency Lighting(costs 3 gears and 1 glowberry) WX glows when he is standing in the dark. But it drains his hunger twice as fast when doing so. This allows the character to mine, chop and fight at night without much worries about light. The radius of light is still smaller though. 4.locomotion update(costs 6 gears and purple gem) WX moves 30% faster. Not much info needed I guess. 5. Meditation program(costs 2 gears and 5 furs) WX 78 can now rest anywhere without tents and lean to. This does the same effect. But keep in mind that he is vulnerable and needs 3 seconds to wake up from this position. 6.waterproofing program(costs 3 gears and a deerclops eye) Makes your robo waterproof. Does not become wet even when drowned but your tools will still slip though. 7.Reboot program(costs 3 gears) WX removes all programs and gains the gears. He loses 3 gears as crafting this program costs 3. WX disadvantages WX is now affected by lightning. The remaining defects are same. THANKS
  2. While I have been enjoying the character refreshes and the pacing of the updates in general, someone got me thinking of a little bit of a new way Klei could spice up the pattern. While I eagerly await a Webber refresh, it could be interesting if for one month, instead of going to the next character after a content drop, if Klei took time to refresh archaic mechanics/content. For example, a refresh to farming, ancient guardian, summer, and/or the biome(s) in the caves (although they just need more content in general, kinda like summer, so that’s less of a refresh). Or this could be something that we move on to after the characters are refreshed? Thoughts?

I have seen a lot of people which are still new to modding having troubles with the basic character perks, therefore I decided to create a simple tutorial showing you how to create some basic perks for your character. So if you're having trouble and are working on a mod for DS, RoG, or SW (or... all) then hopefully this could help you out at least a little bit! I know that I'm not the best modder out there, and that there can be few different ways to achieve some of these things in this tutorial, but I'm gonna focus mainly on the ways that I learned how to do them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT DST mods differ in their codding from the DS, RoG, and SW. So sadly this tutorial might not help you if you're working on a DST mod. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So most of you probably are already using a basic character template, which provides you with a basic modmain.lua file, same as a starter character prefab file which already has the basic list of assets, and character stats for you to manipulate. But just in case you don't have them, then here's where you can get them: Extended Sample Character << Click In this tutorial I'll show you how to: - Set/Change your characters Health, Sanity, and hunger. - Increase/Decrease/Turn off night and dusk sanity drain or reverse it. - Increase/Decrease/Turn off moisture sanity drain or reverse it. - Set a HP/Sanity/Hunger regen/damage over time. - Set a HP/Sanity/Hunger regen/damage during specified time of the day. - Set a HP/Sanity/Hunger regen/damage during specified season. - Set a HP/Sanity/Hunger regen/damage from rain or while being in caves. - Set a health/sanity/hunger regern/damage from temperature. - Set a health/sanity/hunger regern/damage from moisture. - Set a sanity/health/hunger loss/gain from attacking creatures. - Set a sanity/health/hunger loss/gain from killing creatures. - Set a Sanity regern/damage by equipping an item. - Erase/Increase/Decrease an existing sanity regen/damage on an item. - Add a sanity aura heal/damage to an item/creature. -------------------------- - Change your character's basic defense/attack power/speed. - Change defense/power/speed based on the time of the day. - Change defense/power/speed based on season. - Change defense/power/speed based on rain or caves. - Change defense/power/speed based on temperature. - Change defense/power/speed based on moisture. -------------------------- - Set your character's heat and cold resistance. - Increase/Decrease the HP damage when freezing/overheating. - Make your character fragile/resistant/immune to heat/cold. - Make your character immune to fire. - Turn your character into a monster or make it "not scary to prey". - Make the spiders/merm ignore your character (if unbothered). -------------------------- - Set/Change what your character can/can't eat. - Change the amount of sanity/health/hunger that a specified food gives. - Create a custom food type/group for your character. - Make an non-eatable item eatable to your character. --------------------------- - Give your character starting inventory items. - Make your character always start with a certain custom item (even in adventure mode). - Give your character a night vision/glow. - Unlock recipes for your character. - Change existing recipes. - Give your character custom recipes for existing items. - Remove the sanity gain/loss from picking flowers. - Mute your character. - Make your character unable to trigger spiders when walking on their webs. (All of the sections are in the same order as in the list above) BTW, I know that you'll see me repeat the same things many times in this tutorial, but that's just because I made it for people to be able to head right away to the section that they care to learn, without needing to read the whole thing. So I'm sorry if you'll find that annoying. Health: 225 Sanity: 150 Hunger: 100 - No eyepatch could cover his eye, No meal can satisfy his hunger - The stronger the foe the tougher he becomes - Anchor he has, Anger he gets Upsides: His eye gives him a light radius increase of 25%, He gains 25% bonus health from food, Weston gains resistence and a damage boost depending on the size or type of the mob he is fighting, Bosses will deal 25% less damage that also lessens the durability loss of armor for him and he deals 10% more damage to them while hound-beefalo sized mobs deal 10% less damage and he deals 5% more damage to them, He has an Anchor Hook that needs 2x Cutstones and 3x Flint to be crafted and has a durability of 20 uses, The anchor will immediately pull Weston towards his target whether it is a mob or an object and he will deal 51 damage to the mob upon landing and reset their attack it can also be used while riding a boat to slowly pull the boat towards an object Downsides: Weston gains 50% less hunger from food and becomes 13% slower for a second if he hits a mob

    Based off of Dragon Wolf Leo's Extended Sample Character Kodi for all (DLC)Stats: Health: 150 Hunger: 130 Sanity: 130 Damage increased by 10% Speed is 5% higher. The character has a custom voice. Creates a magic sword, deals 65 damage, slows the character when the sword is in the hands. Restores health at a rate of 5 units per hit, and lowers the sanity of -20 per minute. Kodi don't like night, at night the sanity decreases 10% faster. Has a passive health regeneration of 1 unit in 30 seconds. The transformation of the character is added, you can activate by pressing the button (G). When the character is in shadow form, he has increased speed, increased damage, increased food consumption. Transformation takes away (-15) sanity and (-15) hunger, but when you return to normal, it adds (+5) sanity. I know someone probably posted this topic at some point, but as it has died, I'm genuinely curious as to what everyone's favorite quote is based on either the lore behind the quote or if its funny or a terrible Wilson pun (his quotes for new content have become better recently.) To start off, my favorite quote is Pocket Scale- "HELLO MY POCKET-SIZED BRETHREN" from WX-78, and I find this quote hilarious because I can only think about WX having a tiny army of pocket-sized robots.

  9. Hi! I'm making my first mod because i wanted to add a character i made in the game, i'm not really good at coding so i was wondering if someone could help me with a perk! Basically what i want my character to do is to give a sanity aura (Like a gloomer) to other players around, with a maximum of 2 players near my character (If there's 1 person near he will still give sanity aura) But when there are 3 or more players near my character, he will give an insanity aura instead I know that is it possible to make a character give sanity aura, but i'm not so sure if something this specific can be made Many thanks for the help!
  10. Introducing Nicole & Nando! A character mod for Don't Starve Together. 'Animal Companion' Nando the hound-pup is at Nicole's side at all times. Except when he's staying, cause he's such a good boy. Beefalo are generally pacified for Nicole and can be sheared at any time. 'Cruelty-Free' Increased health and hunger benefits from fruits & vegetables. Deals less damage in direct combat. 'Bold & Brave' Not easily shaken by scary things. Increased sanity benefits from looking dapper. Insta-kill: Enabling causes Nando to die after taking a single hit from Nicole. Minimum DIstance: Nando will make sure to get out of Nicole's way when set. Stay/Follow Toggle: In-game key for toggling between Stay and Follow modes for Nando.     Link, of The Legend of Zelda fame. Link is a seasoned adventurer, and well equipped for whatever may come his way in the wilderness. His experience has jaded him to the point of sanity being a non-issue. He'll fight a king of nightmare-beasts before breakfast, and not even blink at it. He is used to living off what's available, and has developed a strong stomach. Compared to the average character, Link is faster, stronger, and tougher. However, he has a smaller stomach, and faster hunger rate - running around, and fighting like that burns off the calories much faster! Link is perhaps best played as a hunter - hunt, kill, and eat monsters to stay alive. Or, failing monsters… adorable, harmless little bunnies. You monster. Link brings a number of Hero's Items with him on his adventure. All Hero's Items are unbreakable, and uncraftable. So don't lose them! This has been broken and abandoned for quite some time, but I finally restored it to working order. RoG compatible, Shipwrecked will crash on World Generation sometimes, and always causes issues with the Coconade. It could probably be fixed with a rewrite of the Bomb code, but I think I just have to call it incompatible with Shipwrecked.

  13. So, I've been working on how my Character would play out in DST but I'm a bit stumped on how to actually code it in. So, if anyone knows, Would you be so kind to reply and answer these: How can I make the prototyping sanity gain smaller? How do I animate with Spriter? Is there a way I can make an event happen around my character? (Ex: My character is a set distance from something and one of his mechanics comes into play)
  14. So recently, I got back into relearning how to make custom characters using the extended character template. As a good friend of mine wanted me to make two for him. And all was going well until I went to test out my progress in game, only for it to turn up invisible. I searched for some answers and found the animation folder wasn't compiling after deleting it. I've looked through my folder and I can't seem to find the issue. So far I have only changed around the names and mod info and drew all the assets for the character.   16. Hello everybody, I need some help with modding my first character. I'm new to modding and I looked up some courses but now I have problems with the game's mechanics and the commands it uses. My character is supposed to swim and get bonuses when wet. I tried to look through WX's scripts with his lightning strike bonuses, but it didn't help at all, and I thought of using the hounds' swimming mechanics for the other part, will it break the game or something if I do?

  18. it'd be awesome if i could let my character gain more sanity than average upon picking flowers! flowers give a +5 sanity boost. if i can double this to +10, that'd be perfect! i've looked around in a "making basic character perks" guide and have tried both "Erase/Increase/Decrease an existing sanity regen/damage on an item" on the prefab "flower", and also "Add a sanity aura heal/damage to an item/creature" to the prefab "flower", as well as "petals". none of these approaches have worked, so i'm wondering if anyone else out there has any idea how i can achieve this? ;3; tysm in advance!

    Adds Whimsy to the list of playable characters. BEFORE I BEGIN, PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CHARACTER IS DESIGNED TO BE A SUPPORT CHARACTER. IF YOU USE THIS MOD IN SINGLE-PLAYER, YOU WILL BE PUTTING YOURSELF AT A SIGNIFICANT DISADVANTAGE. WHIMSY IS DESIGNED AROUND TEAM PLAY. Whismy is a happy sunflower that loves making people smile--which is quite a contrast from the dark, uninviting world of Don't Starve Together. She was born (read:grown) here naturally, and knows nothing else--this world is normal to her. To her new friends, the the sight of her is a great refresher from the horrid world that is constantly trying to kill them... Well, most of her friends, anyway; Maxwell's still not sold on the idea of a disgustingly ecstatic sunflower that just won't shut up. At least she's technically one less mouth to feed. Whimsy is a very, VERY odd character that I've been wanting to create for a very long time (she was thought of and designed around the same time as Weston was when he was being developed for RoG). She is effectively a full support type of character, while at the same time being almost parasitic. She is nearly completely reliant on other players to survive, meaning that you will almost ALWAYS have to play with another player to get anything done. In return, Whimsy almost completely negates the sanity loss of other characters, which holds some characters back. ------------------------------------------ Whimsy's stats are as follows: Hunger: 150 Health: 75 Sanity: 200 ------------------------------------------ Here are Whimsy's perks: PROS: + Whimsy is naturally cheerful in the sunlight, and she's almost always in a good mood. Because of this, Whimsy regenerates sanity very quickly in the daytime. In the dark, not only does she not lose any sanity from night drain, but she regains sanity at almost the same rate! + Not only does Whimsy regenerate sanity for herself, but when she is near other players, they also regain sanity from her cheerfulness. This is useful for characters that have sanity penalties. Her cheerful nature even triumphs over the sanity drain from darkness (Does not stop Charlie from attacking your friends, however)! + Whimsy uses photosynthesis to regenerate her hunger in the daytime, which raises quite quickly. In addition to this, she also slowly regains her health in the sunlight. + Whimsy is light and quick. She is quite a bit faster than most characters. + Much like Weston the Wandering Cactus , Whimsy attracts insects that naturally seek out flowers. However, when certain insects see Weston's spikes, they'll usually flee after getting too close. Since Whimsy has no spikes, insects will freely light on her and pollinate her. + Being a flower, Whimsy is not very threatening. Therefore, certain small prey animals that would normally be scared away by the player's presence are not scared by her, meaning that she can approach them freely. Therefore, she is the perfect character to capture small prey with traps. In addition, certain mobs will either ignore you completely (until you attack them), or watch you curiously from a distance. CONS: - Whimsy is a delicate, frail flower. She has a low health pool because of this (75 hp). - Whimsy, like Weston, also suffers from a 3 x damage vulnerability from fire. Combine that with a very low health pool, and this can mean a very quick death. - Along with being frail, Whimsy is also EXTREMELY weak. In fact, she does NO DAMAGE when attacking. The only thing she seems to be able to kill is butterflies, it seems... - Whimsy does not have any hands--just leaves. Because of this, Whimsy is COMPLETELY unable to hold any kind of tool, such as axes, pickaxes, unbrellas, torches, etc. If she tried to pick up one of these tools, it will immediately slip out of her leaves, meaning she cannot even take them with her (unless she takes it out of a chest, or other storage unit). - Along with not having hands, Whimsy has many delicate petals that adorn her head. Because of this, she cannot wear hats of ANY KIND, as they would damage her petals. In fact, much like tools, she cannot even pick them up! The same rules that apply to tools apply to hats, basically. Don't worry, Whimsy CAN wear torso items like backpacks, armor, etc. - Whimsy has no mouth, or any kind of openings in her face, really. Because of this, WHIMSY CANNOT EAT FOOD. Whimsy is totally reliant on photosynthesis for her energy, which is only available during the day while not in a cave. When Whimsy is not in the daylight, she loses hunger points, but much more slowly than most characters. - Insects aren't the only thing drawn to her... Catcoons will leap up at your head and swat at you, which can deal a surprising amount of damage. Even if they're only playing, getting hit by a sneak-attack from a Catcoon can mean death if you are at low health. - Whimsy LOSES 5 sanity from picking flowers, instead of gaining 5 sanity like most characters. This does not apply to things such as ferns, succulents, and cactus flowers. Basically, your average garden-variety flowers (excuse the pun). - Unfortunately, due to the nature of Whimsy's appearance (and how much I had to change the default character model), Whimsy is COMPLETELY UNABLE TO WEAR CLOTHING SKINS. It was necessary to add this, otherwise she would look REALLY broken in them. However, I will soon be creating custom skins for her, which will add some variety to her. In the meantime, I apologize for the lack of customization. ------------------------------------------ Cool stuff in this mod: + A whole new character to play as (obviously). + TONS of custom dialogue lines written just for Whimsy! + High-Quality character art! + Custom minimap icons, select screen portraits, and save slot portraits! + Entirely new speech sounds! ------------------------------------------ Tips and Tricks for using Whimsy Effectively: Here are some things to know about Whimsy that will help you while playing: - Whimsy cannot hold tools, which means she is completely reliant on other characters for things like wood, stone, and other resources that normally require tools to obtain. This means she will need other characters to get these things for her. She cannot even hold torches or lanterns, so she has to rely on other characters to produce a mobile light source for her. - Whimsy does not eat food, but she does still have inventory space. When playing as Whimsy, you can be used effectively as extra storage space for other players, sort of like Chester. When Wolfgang or Wickerbottom can't hold any more items, consider giving them to the walking sanity factory behind them for future use. Since she's too weak to work or fight, she may as well make herself useful SOMEHOW. - In PvP, you are obviously at a disadvantage strength-wise. However, you are much faster than most characters, effectively running at around cane-equipped speed. Use your speed to get away from attackers. However, if THAT doesn't work, maybe consider bribing your enemies with the sanity bonus you give? Make them see that it's more beneficial to them to have you alive than dead, and try to make an alliance. - Since Whimsy relies heavily on the daylight, she is at a HUGE disadvantage when in caves. This makes it much harder to stay in caves for extended periods of time, as sunlight is the ONLY way to restore her hunger. Consider giving her a Belt of Hunger if you plan on staying in the caves for a while. While she cannot stay in caves for long, she DOES provide a large sanity aura capable of negating the darkness, which is very advantageous for certain characters. ------------------------------------------ Thank you all so much, and have fun! - T.V.
