  1. I don't know if klei will ever see this or any of the makers, however that will not stop me form posting this. I been playing DS for a very long time. loved all the update's so far. So I decided to make a DS character for it. to be honest it wasn't hard at all. So if any of makers would like to have the character feel free to have it, you don't even have to ask me. I do not have any stats for him, I let you decide or if anyone wanted to give him stats in the comments. he's nothing really just thought I post him up for anyone to see. I will look to see if anyone come up with any good stats for him or a good name I think I would call him the geek not much of a name right right....., ya I know your laughing at me lol:biggrin-new: O and also feel free to change him in anyway, you want. or not

You have X% when you walk in a worm hole to appear in that dimension..(maybe the X% can be affected from your sanity..less sanity more probabilities..)that dimension conected all wormholes and can be really usefull to access to any zone of the map with a wormhole(is a weird zone with a lot of wormholes..anyone conected with other from the normal dimension..maybe like the sea with spiderwebs above with the wormholes and myst dark zone..i don't know..but very weird..XD),but is inabitated by the dimensional Worm(boss)or worms(like tall birds and hounds..)What you think about that..isn't really creative idea,but maybe with other add's can be interesting..What you think can be add's to it or need be changed?..

Character customizationI think that would be very interesting to play with a character similar to myself, another thing funny would be to play with a "cartoonization" of a known person as President Lula or Obama or Elvis...:biggrin-new:With a customization, the player could feel himself a little bit "co-creator" of the game, for sure is what you pretended when you opened this forum.ZeMadNatal-Brazil
  4. Before After Is it just me again or the annoying thing happen to you guys too?? I really get piss off of this...why the heck this walls move?? now I can't pass through to get dem poop! This is the only Reason I could think of When this guys are too close to dem walls and when u load ur game the walls disarrange it self. Or if this guys sleep on that location the next morning the walls move!. Is this a bug?? Please fix this ****!
  5. I love the idea but what if he had the ability to stalk mobs in there shadow slowly hurting them like a ghost. And he has the same effect as the berry bush by hiding in shadows when standing still

  7. I think that if savannahs were larger, and with more things in them that it would be great! Maybe plants like cacti, small bushes (maybe like marsh plants, no use besides being esthetical), a waterhole where some creatures could center around maybe and I'd love if a tumbleweed would roll past me while being in the biome!
  8. seeing as the mods section seems to be all about releasing finished mods, i thought ide take a stab here. how would one go about modifying character sprites for don't starve? i have plans to edit Wilson's animations just for fun, but i am unsure of how to modify the filetypes for the character sprites. from what i could gather it seems to be the .tex files included in a zip but i couldnt turn up any results on google (that were actually useful) on modding .tex files.also if it helps any im running the steam version of don't starve.

I don't know about active abilities, but I can imagine how these could be implemented in the form of items.Your ideas for Wilson and Wickerbottom would go well with the journal or notebook that I've heard of in other threads.The idea varies but the way I see it is as an item crafted with papyrus and twigs (?), that would place an icon in the UI that you could click and find various bits of information about the world (creatures etc).With that in mind maybe Wilson could have a magnifying glass, crafted from gold and a stick (and glass if that was in the game), which would allow him to access a greater level of detail in the journal. Wickerbottom could be able to craft an encyclopedia instead of a journal, which has an even greater level of detail, and maybe contains basic information about some things already.Willow could craft matches and a matchbox (twigs, papyrus and charcoal?) which would act like very dim torches, lasting about 3/4 seconds, but giving the ability to set fire to things without a torch. They could also stack in high numbers.Wolfgang is tough, maybe a new weapon that would do what you described. Maybe boxing gloves that allow him to attack with his bare fists, knocking enemies back? Maybe they could be made of beefalo wool, ropes and silk?The thing you suggested for Wendy seems relatively similar to the pan flutes, I think. Maybe something to do with her 'nice little girl' image, based on her portrait I thought of a flower that she could hold, picking off petals continuously, that allows her to approach any creature without it caring. This could be used to sneak past monsters, creep up on birds or rabbits to hunt them, or sneakily steal tallbird eggs or shave beefalo. As she's picking off flowers this would act like durability, so it could only last maybe 10 seconds. Since I can't think of how to sensibly 'craft' a flower, maybe it could spawn deep inside forest biomes when playing as Wendy, or you could create a seed for it out of a gold nugget and a bunch of petals?

  12. The Cook Name: Walter Title: The Cook Quote: "I am the one, who knocks." (GET IT??? HA HA HA.) Attributes: +slower hunger +boosted efficiency from food +no negative effects from food +lessen materials needed for crockpot recipes -looser grip on sanity (if that's ever implemented) Dungeons This is an idea I'm sort of on the fence about but that I think most people would appreciate (probably not, though). While I think that this game is incredibly balanced and fair, it's lacking something in terms of "STUFF TO DO". Currently, the best time you'll have in the game is launching a raid on a spider den and killing a few queens. Then what? By the time you get there you probably already have a base set up and enough materials to survive until you're ninety. The road that got you there was so long and tedious that you're starting to question if it was worth the payoff. That's why I've come up with The Dungeon. It should work like this, on every map, there is one door. This door, when clicked on, will take you to the dungeon. The dungeon is a randomly generated maze that is riddled with monsters and chests (that gots loots in'em). There is one entrance and one exit on each floor of the dungeon and the deeper you go, the harder the monsters get. You start off fighting hounds and getting sleep darts, but by the end you'll be killing Spider Queens and Tree Guardians in return for meat effigy's and amulets. It will be pitch black in the dungeon (too keep you from staying too long) so a light source is a must. It could be fun! If you got a light source and something to fight with there's nothing to stop you from just up and grabbing some better loot. The lower levels would be great once you've already established a camp on the surface and have an army of Pigs at your disposal and the upper levels are great ways to get some better gear if exploration isn't your thing. The Pack The Hounds are fine, yeah, but they rarely attack on your turf. It's usually during the daytime when you're gathering some wood in a biome far away from your base. It's so easy to just outrun them or fight the three or four of them that DID spawn. There's been a lot of talk about base fortifications recently (fences, houses and the like) but for what? On the off chance that a hound spawns at an inconvenient time? This feature needs to be revisited. We need a reason to fortify our base and have a city of Pigs watching us at all hours of the day. The hounds should attack at night, when you're awake and when you're the most vulnerable. You can't run far from the fire so you'd have to either fight them right there or die while you were waiting for the sun to come up. Fortifications could be set up (and subsequently destroyed by the hounds) as a way to hold them off until the day time. You could pick them off from afar with some darts or set up some mines for when they get too comfortable. The numbers of hounds should be increased to make fortification (and base-building) a core gameplay mechanic, rather than something to do when you've gotten bored of everything else. Maybe it doesn't have to be the hounds, per say, but we definitely need something to make the nights a little more dangerous. Oh! This is my first post, I think. What's up?
  13. So I wanted to know if the naughty points counting against you go down over time? And if so, how many days does it take to go back to zero? I really do not want to deal with krampus, I have enough trouble running gobblers out of my camp without having some psycho looting all my stuff. Since the Krampus update I've killed maybe 5 rabbits, 1 redbird, 1 beefalo. So I am scared he'll be appearing Soon, though I havent heard any sort of noise when I killed these things, maybe it is because my map is still from before the krampus update? Is he not able to come until I've died and restarted again?
  14. Meet Wilbur Shott! (Still working on last name.) A character suggestion! Blurb: Wilbur is a southern raised man with a thing for animals and machines. His dad, where ever he is now, is a locomotive engineer and a gunsmith from the town they lived in and was fascinated by his father's work. He was being raised as a rancher but he never took the job seriously and often fooled around. He's usually wild and mischievous, but he is really kind. Specials: Beefalos don't seem to mind him shaving their fur, but doing it too much will aggravate them. You can shave 2 beefalos without them getting mad while they are awake, the third time is a risk. You can go for a third with a 50/50 chance of the beefalo getting aggravated. Once done, you cannot shave them while they are awake for 10 days as they will instantly get mad. The 10 day countdown starts as Soon as you shave the first beefalo. He can milk beefalos with no problem. Unless a calf is near. Right click with no tool in hand and a bucket in your inventory. Milk can be used to warm yourself via "cooking" it and then consumption. (I don't know how Winter the Devs mentioned will work exactly, but just throwing that in there.) He is really good with a lasso. (Lasso = 3 Ropes) He can lasso beefalo calves, hounds and spider queens (Will add to the list of creatures if there are more added, suitable to be lassoed.) to temporarily make them immobile. Spider queens can still birth spiders and attack if you stand too close. The hounds can still attack if you are too close also. The rope will pop off the creature after the time of it's use is over (usually 4-5 seconds) or if you kill the creature. The percentage of it used will lower 20%. Saddle Craft(?) (Not to sure if it'll work well. Same goes for the rest of the ideas) He can craft a special hat! (Sheriff Hat = 1 Straw Hat + 2 Rope + 1 Gold) Concept: Don't ask me how the material changed. Go stare at your miner's hat and smile. c: I can just kiss Wilbur! x) <3 (Will add/update more another time. I like this character now. <3 SORRY WILSON! You're still second best. e3e) Extra: Music: I was getting into the concept of my character and stumbled upon some possibly appropriate music: Sample choice, wow look at the price! It's to get the idea. This is the instrumental version: Roaring in the 20's and 30's From these fine fellows, The Texan Gypsies! Voice: If he were to be implemented, in which I highly doubt, but it's fun to go in depth with character development, his voice would be played by a harmonica as Toaster Fu suggested. I originally was thinking a violin/fiddle, but once s/he mentioned harmonica, just yes! Concerning his name choice: Also... Before anyone mentions it, I know there is a "Wilbur" supposedly already. But I chose it because of the Wright brothers and I wanted a first name not a surname, meaning I'm not using "Wright" as a name. Why the Wright brothers? Blame my father's hobby & why the heck not? If you want, you can also call him Wyatt or Wade. Wilbur Is currently having an identity crisis.
  15. I thought I'd ask some basic questions on apiculture, given I don't see a thread for that and I never trust wikis. I'm sure other newbies are just too shy to ask. 1) Can you harvest the bees that are made by a hive to make more hives of bees? 2) Is there a benefit to transplanting bees and releasing them near your own hives? I have noticed that a bee I accidentally let loose started using my hive, as did a third bee that wandered nearby (That bee is a turncoat) 3) Do flowers have to be nearby? If yes, how do you transplant flower? A shovel doesn't work. 4) How often do hives generate more bees, and what's the cap? Is there a way to tell how many bees are in it? 5) How many other people have accidentally smacked a bee with a shovel and had to flee a million killer bees?
  16. I searched around and haven't seen it being said, but I think a barber would fit in well with the other characters. I imagine if he where in it having those clothes worn by quartets. Anyways that is just a thought I had and he could have any of those W names like Wilbert, Walter, or Wright. Think what you like about it but I think it would be interesting. EDIT: Adding the terrible drawing I made to sorta represent what I thought he might look like to the first post. Also a few thoughts people had. • Has more sanity (when/if that is implemented) • More yield of things that are shaved (If seasons are added he could make more coats or just use it for hats) • Some more usefulness for that razor? • Barber hat

  18. So my idea is that when we dont sleep at night we would become more tired and we wouldnt recharge our HP by only eating. The straw roll should be one of the few things that would make us recharge our HP and to do it we would have to rest for 3 days no less or more. What do you guys think about it ???
  19. I had an idea that when you start a new game on the same world after a death, the world could be haunted by your past life. This could be in the form of a ghost or 'zombie'-like representation of your old character that could act as another monster at night. Maybe the world itself could become more withered and eerie each time you die and start a new game as if it is haunted by the death of your character. This would increase the difficulty each time you started a new game, which would make sense as you become more familiar and able with the game and wanted a new challenge each time. I don't know, maybe that is a terrible idea.

Describe your issue So this morning I was playing, it was all fine and dandy, then I headed off to work. I just got back a few hours ago, and noticed there was a new update, was like oh cool, maps, but when I started to play-there was a definite lag. It usually takes seconds for my character to pick a sapling, or to even walk to it-there was a definitely slow lag in walk and everything-even the animals, such as the birds. Of course everything is still even within itself-everything is equally slow so that it's not like I'm dying, but this general lag is.......annoying. I'm pretty patient but I was wondering if it was just me or anything like that?

    Journal Day One- Morning Woke up in the middle of a rocky outcrop. All I can remember is a tall man standing over me...and my name. Wilson. I’m Wilson. Found this scrap of paper and a lump of black material. Will use as impromptu journal so I can sort out this crazy mess. Day One- Afternoon Found some flints and made a primitive axe. Hunted rabbits-why so frustrating? There has to be a way I can trap them easily. Made a flint pickaxe-found gold. If there’s any civilization left, I’d be filthy rich. As is, all I can make now is an analyzer. Chopped up some trees. This place gives me the creeps. It feels like something’s watching me from the undergrowth... Day One- Evening It’s almost night. Scared. For the past hour, the feeling of being watched just grew and grew. Going to make a fire and keep watch. Sleepy...so sle Day Two- Early Morning I’m lucky to be alive. Woke up at about midnight and saw something running through the woods. Must be very careful from now on. But for now, it’s rabbit hunting time! Day Two- Mid-Morning Had a small haul of rabbits-spent most of my time gathering grasses and berries. They look sort of like a cross between grapes and raspberries. Am going to try my skills at weaving. Day Two- Afternoon Figured out a way to weave the grass, after many failures. I analyzed the tufts of grass and realized they have small “teeth” that can hook together if done correctly. Fascinating. Am going to place some near the rabbit warrens. Day Two- Evening As I was setting up camp, a figur e came out of the darkness. After nearly dying of heart attack, I tried to talk to it. Spook in rudimentary language. “Me hungry pig!” I gave him some berries, and after he snuffled them down, said “You good man!” I have decided to call him Peggy. Day Three- Morning Peggy is still asleep. Several times, he commented on my fire. I believe these savage pigmen cannot make a fire and are very technologically underdeveloped. I will try to interview him later. Day Three- Noon Found a small graveyard while checking my traps. All the graves are faded and smudged. I refuse to end up here. Off in the distance, I can see a large creature striding around a small bundle. This deserves attention later... Day Four- Morning I think I am safe now. This island will drive me insane. I will be a gibbering mess of a... Peggy turned into a monster. At night. He ran and chased me over through the forest. There were all sorts of things, I’m sure, but all I had was my feeble light, and now it’s getting dark, and I don’t have any materials, and I can hear something coming towards m-

  23. Hello! So I've bought Dont Starve just yesterday.. Im really impressed but I've had a few problems already so far. At first, I bought the game on Steam (I think this might matter..) The first thing is, that my progress simply disappeared several times. I played the game, turned it off and when I came back few hours laters... I pressed "Play" and there wasnt the "Continue" button, only "New game" (I was in about day 6 in the game) ... This happened to me like 3 times since yestarday. And the other thing is... some kind of a rollback or something. I played the game long enough to unlock the second character (the fire-loving lady, dont know the name). So I started a new game with her after I died with Wilson. Ive got myself some cool items for the beginning (something about day 5 ...) and then I turned the game off after the nearest save. I came back a few hours later, I pressed "Continue" and I was like.. WTF? ..there was Wilson standing in front of me, with completely different items, different day, on a completely different place... Well I told myself.. whatever I will continue playing and start a new game with the lady later. So Ive played some time and died. The XP bar after I died was not comming for the third character but I was half the way to unlock the fire lady (I should really find out whats her name, damn..) ...a complete rollback of my progress :-/ hmm? Do you think this might be Steam problem? I was wondering if this could happen to me while playing via Chrome. I would like to test it.. but I found out that Steam customers wont receive the key for Chrome yet(?) (or am I wrong??) ... I find this a little tricky and bad :-/ I mean... I bought the game so does it matter if I play it on Steam or Chrome? I just want to know if the problems that I've mentioned above are only a common bugs.. or it happens on Steam only.. or it happens to me only (please, no!).. Thanks for any useful replies! I knew before the latest patch it was apparently rare, when I was out killing some tentacles to make a feather hat for my bereaved I've gotten 3 in a row to 1 patch, was kind of blown away, also curious, does the spike do more damage then the spear? I figure it does but just curious if there is a comparison between the two like how many strikes to kill an optimus pine between the 2.
