      UPDATED - Studio Note & Rhymes with Play Streams Temporarily Canceled.   03/06/2020

      UPDATE (3/19/20): Just a quick note regarding the team at Klei Entertainment. As noted previously, everybody at Klei Entertainment is working from home due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Many of us have been working especially hard to help maintain operations as we all move out of the office and into our homes and with everything being done online, extra time must be spent in organizing conversations and trying to maintain communication. As some of you may know, we have a very open office and we are almost always in contact with each other as we go about our days. Some of us work across multiple teams and that work has become a bit more challenging for everybody.   That being said, at this time the transition has not caused any major disruption in our operations, but it would be overly optimistic to expect that we won't have any delays at all. We're going to have to be especially mindful about this in the coming weeks and make sure we don't take on too much work so we can keep things running smoothly.  We will let you know as we see how these changes affect our timelines.  Thanks UPDATE (3/10/20):
      The test yesterday went well. We got the whole office (mostly) to work from home without significant issue. As a result, Klei Staff that can work from home have been asked to do so until further notice.  This means that we will have to cancel the Rhymes with Play stream until we are all back in the office. This shouldn't affect anything else at least in the short term, but if things change I will update you all here.  Original Post: Hey everybody,  This Tuesday March 10th, 2020 the entire staff at Klei will be working remotely for 1 day in an effort to prepare the studio to work remotely for a little while if the need arises.  Klei is already set up pretty well to allow for working remotely, however we are going to have a one day "dry run" with the whole studio so that we can identify and avoid any issues or downtime that may arise should choose to implement a work from home policy due to COVID-19 outbreak concerns. Unfortunately this does mean that we will be canceling the “Rhymes with Play” Art stream this coming Tuesday, however unless the situation changes we expect everything at the studio to be back to normal Wednesday and we’ll continue our regular stream schedule Thursday March 12th. If the situation changes at all, we'll let you know. Thanks for your understanding.

    Sample mod showing how to add a custom tech branch. In this example, the fire pit is used as the prototyper for a recipe of rocks (in the Magic tab). Due to a game change made to have recipes not requiring a prototyping structure cease to be prototypable (see this), unfortunately it was necessary to override the method Builder:KnowsRecipe() from the Builder component. More generally, the hardcoded logic in the Builder component prevented this implementation from being as clean and simple as I'd like. It is functional, nevertheless. Thanks to Heavenfall for originally looking into this.

    I always found it a pain to get and fuel the old lantern. I've only ever had the lucky cave with tons of light bulbs right at the entrance once, really. It all depends on the map you get. This Brass lantern can be obtained without traveling to those confusing caves, and can even be a great way TO explore caves! It uses burnable items as fuel, emits slightly less light, and burns through fuel twice as fast as the normal lantern. I'll also probably fix up the textures sometime soon. Like today. In the next few minutes, possibly. If you're wondering, the character(s) in the screenshots are of my character and deceased cat. Still need to do new textures for my character at some point. Anyways...(ahem) hope you enjoy the mod!

    This mod allows you to slowly regain sanity while you stand next to flowers and potted ferns. Also included are different ways for each character to gain and lose sanity, each special and unique to only that character! Willow: In addition to her already slowly regenerating sanity while standing near fires, she also gains a small boost of sanity every time something catches fire. At a first glance, this may not seem very beneficial but since fires are so willing to spread, this can very easily create a chain reaction that will take you to your max sanity in a very short amount of time, at the cost of burning valuable resources. However, she does not like ashes and she will very quickly lose sanity if she stands near them. Wolfgang: It's no surprise that Wolfgang loves food. I mean, who doesn't? So standing near any food related structures, such as crock pots, farms, or even refrigerators will make him happy and he will slowly regain sanity. However, destroying said structures will strike terror into his heart and lower his sanity. Wendy: Wendy and Abigail have a very strong bond that even death can't stand in between. So things like Abigail's Flower, tombstones and even graves will make Wendy happy and feel like she's not alone anymore, thus raising her sanity. However, the death of her sister's ghost will cause great sorrow and sanity loss. WX-78: WX-78 loves technology so, much like Wolfgang, just hanging around beloved structures and objects, such as Science Machines, Lightening Rods or even toy robots are enough to make him happy and will slowly regenerate his sanity. However, also much like Wolfgang, it pains him to destroy those structures and will lower his sanity. Wickerbottom: Wickerbottom gets two new book recipes, one to completely refill your sanity over time and one to completely deplete it. The sanity refilling book regenerates roughly 150 points of sanity a second for 15 seconds and the sanity depleting book instantly sets your sanity pool to 0. Both books only have two uses each so use them wisely. Woodie: If it's not obvious by now, Woodie suffers from ornithophobia; a fear of birds. So just hanging around them or their feathers will quickly drain his sanity. Also because of his hatred for birds, it makes Woodie feel better to see birds brought to justice. Whether it's trapping them, putting them in cages or even killing them, Woodie will gain sanity boosts from watching them pay for their crimes! Whatever those crimes may be. Lite version: The character mods have been removed so the only thing the Lite version does is give sanity auras to flowers and potted ferns. Changes: -Flowers now grow when it rains. This can be disabled at the top of modmain.lua -Finally got around to rewriting Willow's perks. Burning things should now work much more effectively and consistently. -Wickerbottom's sanity regenerating book now heals over time instead of just instantly maxing it out. It lasts for 15 seconds and regenerates roughly 150 points of sanity a second. While under it's effect, you can tactfully face all sanity draining threats without suffering any of the penalties. -Fire Hounds now boost Willow's sanity. -Added Lite version. -Potted Ferns now produce sanity auras, higher than flower auras.     Hey, you know about the Night Light? Yea me neither, why would you ever make something so useless amirite? Well not anymore! No longer waste any precious nightmare fuel, this brand new Night Light uses patent pending Cthulhuian technology to rip the nightmares right out of your head! Features: Night Light is now an infinite light source similar to Maxwell's light, but the more insane you are the brighter it is. Warning at full sanity the small flame from the Night Light will NOT protect you from Charlie the night monster. You have to be at about 140/150 to be safe, though that will not give you much room to work with. Wearing the Nightmare Amulet will create a max flame size, but be careful if better_sanity_drain option is true as it is by default because Night Lights will drain your sanity quite fast and you can't see the effects of sanity drain in your sanity meter while wearing the Nightmare Amulet.The Night Light can be turned off and on by right clicking on it. By default it will always remember if you turned it off, but a Config option is avalibe to set it to always turn back on once you come close to it again.The sanity drain from the Night Light is now based on the flame sized, the bigger it is the more it will drain. In vanilla you would have to be touching the Night Light for it to effect you at all. Now it has a larger radius but standing farther away lessens the drain. By default at max flame size while touching the Night Light it will drain 20 sanity per minute, that number and setting it to work as it does in vanilla are both configurable.Config: The file called modmain.lua can be found in <your don't starve folder>modsFueledByMadness Default Configurations: ----Config-----local turn_back_on_when_close = false --If false NightLights stay off until you turn them on, if true they will automatically turn back on when once you leave and come close to them again.local better_sanity_drain = true --If true sanity drain is now drains more the bigger the flame, and the area of effect is larger, though the further away you are standing to the NightLight the less the drain.local custom_sanity_drain = 20 --sanity drain per minute when at max fuel while standing very close to the NightLight, only used if better_sanity_drain is true.     Features: This mod lets you equip the compass to your hand, and while it is in your hand it makes the fog of war on your map disappear so you can see everything, unequipping it hides the map again but everything you have explored is still visible. I made this mod cause I thought the compass could be more useful and I find uncovering the map a bit tedious, you are basically spending an inventory slot for the ability to see the whole map on the go.     A quick lesson on the realistic shelf life of honey: Honey, arguably, doesn't spoil. In normal storage conditions, it will only thicken and crystallize. You can return it to it's normal, non-crystallized state by putting it in a glass jar(if it's not already in one) and putting that jar into a pot of boiling water. The heat will cause it to decrystallize and become as good as new! Just don't heat the honey to it's boiling point as that will make it lose some of it's flavor. What that means to this mod: This mod allows you to cook honey over a campfire to get a fresh unit of honey. Also, instead of turning into rot, it will now turn into a new prefab, "crystallized honey", which doesn't spoil and can also be cooked over a fire for a fresh unit of honey. Eating crystallized honey without cooking it first will cause a slight sanity loss and it has a hunger value that's about a third of normal honey. Changes: -Increased honey's spoilage level when cooked over a fire. -Adjusted the shelf life of honey again. -Added a new prefab "crystallized honey". See above for how it works. -Doubled the spoil time of honey. If you have any issues, suggestions or comments, please feel free to leave them.
