UPDATED - Studio Note & Rhymes with Play Streams Temporarily Canceled.   03/06/2020

UPDATE (3/19/20): Just a quick note regarding the team at Klei Entertainment. As noted previously, everybody at Klei Entertainment is working from home due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Many of us have been working especially hard to help maintain operations as we all move out of the office and into our homes and with everything being done online, extra time must be spent in organizing conversations and trying to maintain communication. As some of you may know, we have a very open office and we are almost always in contact with each other as we go about our days. Some of us work across multiple teams and that work has become a bit more challenging for everybody.   That being said, at this time the transition has not caused any major disruption in our operations, but it would be overly optimistic to expect that we won't have any delays at all. We're going to have to be especially mindful about this in the coming weeks and make sure we don't take on too much work so we can keep things running smoothly.  We will let you know as we see how these changes affect our timelines.  Thanks UPDATE (3/10/20):
The test yesterday went well. We got the whole office (mostly) to work from home without significant issue. As a result, Klei Staff that can work from home have been asked to do so until further notice.  This means that we will have to cancel the Rhymes with Play stream until we are all back in the office. This shouldn't affect anything else at least in the short term, but if things change I will update you all here.  Original Post: Hey everybody,  This Tuesday March 10th, 2020 the entire staff at Klei will be working remotely for 1 day in an effort to prepare the studio to work remotely for a little while if the need arises.  Klei is already set up pretty well to allow for working remotely, however we are going to have a one day "dry run" with the whole studio so that we can identify and avoid any issues or downtime that may arise should choose to implement a work from home policy due to COVID-19 outbreak concerns. Unfortunately this does mean that we will be canceling the “Rhymes with Play” Art stream this coming Tuesday, however unless the situation changes we expect everything at the studio to be back to normal Wednesday and we’ll continue our regular stream schedule Thursday March 12th. If the situation changes at all, we'll let you know. Thanks for your understanding.

  1. I could go at lengths at explaining how I'm disappointing in this design choice, but as always, it'll fall on deaf ears. The people who do listen are probably tired of hearing me say the same things over and over. Ever seen a newer player find an summer/winter trap for the first time? For the most part, it's an enjoyable surprise. The majority of the newer players won't survive the first Winter anyway, the players who can, can generally cope with an early Winter or Summer. Why are the devs attempting to create "late game" content like Beefalo Riding and "resource variants" if they just want to make a game where people live for the first year then quit?
  2. Here's a little design I came up with after having hundreds of turf and not wanting to store it all in 50+ chests. A moleworm burrow can hold 50 stacks of items, so each moleworm burrow can be used to store 500 tiles of turf. A lot of people consider turf precious since it's non-renewable without world hopping - so moleworm burrows are a little bit safer than chests because they can't burn. Each pen has a burrow holding the turf that's underneath the pen. My forest turf pen needs three moleworms to hold all the turf while my grass turf pen needs two. Everything else has a single moleworm. The pens are organized by least dominate to most dominate as one turf will always cover another one when placed next to each other. Whenever I need turf for a project, I dig it a burrow up and let the moleworms store it again. Cheers,
  3. Leafy Meat Farm

Nothing new but didn't see a video on this. Frogs can essentially steal from Moleworms, Pig Men, Rabbit Men, Krampus, Lureplants, Chester/Packim, Monkeys etc. Frogs attack the lureplants, which constantly generate leafy meat, and drop it over and over until the lureplant dies. You can get roughly 15-20 leafy meat pure bulb. It's essentially easy food, slurtle slime, gold, gunpowder, fertilizer, etc. Cheers,
  4. Shipwrecked Roadmap

Magic tab useless? Nightmare Armor is the best body armor in the game. With how armor stacking is calculated, the armor equipped last talks the bulk of damage. Nightmare armor makes thulecite crowns last for 26.6k damage, making your thulecite and bubbles last forever. Pan Flute is one of the strongest items in the game. AOE sleep is huge; I use pan flutes for the majority of my hound attacks. Flutes are easily renewable through green gems and trawling (one green gem equals 37.5 pan flute uses). Chilled amulet is great for both RoG and SW Summers. Ice Staff is great for single enemy control and penning mobs. Also putting out fires. Fire staff is great crowd control. Telestaff for WX overcharge, creating rain, causing earthquakes, telestaffing yourself and other mobs across the map. Old bell for mass farming resources, causing massive earthquakes, stomping giants, and digging up moleworm burrows. Life Giving Amulets for making skeleton walls. Dripple Pipes to combat smouldering in RoG. Belt of Hunger is great for Wolfgang and Wes. Meat Effigy for when you accidently screw up. Nightmare Amulet even has a couple niche uses for beard hair and nightmare fuel farming. I still prefer Dark Swords to the Cutlass, way easier to farm for me. Sometimes I wonder if I'm playing the same game as you folks.
  5. Don't Starve RoG Bet You Did Not Know Ep.5

    Thanks for the shout out.
  6. Bunny Night Lights

Hey all, Here's an alternative source of lighting for night: I previously attempted to use slurpers by themselves as a supplemental light source. Unfortunately, without being attached to you, a pig, or a bunny they provide inadequate light comparable to fireflies. When Slurpers are penned up with a bunny hutch, the bunnies leave their houses at dusk, slurpers attach to their head and will illuminate an area until morning when the bunnies return to their hutch. The bunnies return next dusk with the slurpers still attached to their heads and illuminate the area ad infinitum. There are some oddities with this design though. If a bunny dies with a slurper attached to their head, they will NOT respawn until their hutch even after several days. To respawn the bunnies, their hutch needs to be light on fire forcing them to flee from their house. Hence the fire staff in my inventory and ice flingomatic in the middle of the area. Not too sure why this is though as bunnies should spawn every night. Sometimes the bunnies can go days without dying either, sometimes not, which is something I'm also still trying to decipher (maybe the length of day vs dusk/night? do they heal while in the hutches? etc iunno). Just wanted to share an alternative slight source. I'm a fan of the bunnies coming out at dusk/night then returning when morning arrives; it's a pretty neat mechanic to have them deliver light when they spawn from their hutch. This could easily be slimmed down to two hutches with an area in between. Feel free to experiment! I'm not yet confident enough in this design to build something similar my main save/base, but probably will eventually. As a side note, it'd be pretty cool to line a path with a couple of these and walk through it with meat whenever. All the bunnies will flock towards the wall at you. Cheers,
  7. @Bryce any chance to get a similar buffed to the lazy forager that the magi received? It was in a worse place than the Magi was before it's buff.
  8. To the folks complaining about the monkey balls change, do you realize you can wall the monkey balls in for the same effect? Also, why build your entire base around a glitch? Why are they so critical and what effect can't be achieved by walling the ball in?
  9. Also can't craft cobblestone in my RoG only world now due to it requiring magma turf.
  10. The cobblestone change carried over to my RoG only save. Can't craft anymore cobblestone:/
  11. Fan of... Not a fan of... Indifferent about...
  12. This is just as, if not more, broken as haunting books for their effects. Not a fan of this change, just my 2 cents. Another nail in the coffin for PVP. Being a ghost has less and less consequences.
  13. [Game Update] - 169365

You are correct. It requires rot! How am I going to get rot unless I don't eat? Are they expecting me to starve? In all honesty though, should being able to resurrect yourself without any penalties be so easy, especially in survival? Again, why not just play endless or wilderness at this point?
  14. [Game Update] - 169365

Good meme material tbh. Game should start difficult and become easier. Not start easy and get easier.
  15. [Game Update] - 169365

Why play survival at that point? If you want infinite respawns, there's already two modes for that: wilderness and endless. Not counting the already numerous ways to revive yourself already. All three game modes are practically the same at this point. As for waiting for PVP balance, good luck because you'll be waiting for a long time. We've been begging for months.
  16. [Game Update] - 169365

I agree with the majority of KCDA's post. Don't Starve used to be considered an uncompromising survival games. If anything, there are too many ways to resurrext: touchstones, telltale hearts, life giving amulets, meat effigies. The most "difficult" mode which is similar to the base game is turning into endless-mode light. If people want to respawn over and over, why not play Endless or Wilderness. Another advantage of ghosts KCDA didn't mention is the ability to abuse Wicker's books without durability loss. Personally not a fan of a lot of these changes but I understand you can't please everyone. Some food for thought from the thread on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/dontstarve/comments/49kmke/dst_game_update_169312/
  17. I'd like to see skins given away for special events / holidays, etc Logging in during the week of Christmas? Here's a Christmas skin/gift from Klei. I'd also like to see more items skinned other than backpacks. As for people arguing against skins being monetized; this was bound to happen unless you want skins to be completely untradeable. No one is forcing you to buy a skin or participate in the skin market. I also agree that prices will bottom out the longer the item is available and the more items that are released. If you're actually playing the game, by the time more skins are released, you should have plenty to trade to be able to get a hold of your favorites.
  18. Hey all, I've been using the Ancient Pseudo Science Station to farm more gravedigger trinkets late game. I've been calling this the thulecite lottery because of the random loot you can get from the APSS using thulecite: Basically, I hammer the APSS three times and then repair it with two thulecite. Each time the machine is hammered, it has a chance to spit out a multitude of items including trinkets, rare gems, armor, mobs and even stuff like drawf stars. It spit out a meat effigy previous which is why it's sitting there. Mobs are more common than goodies so I built a fire trap around the APSS. I wear scalemail while hammering and use a starcaller staff to keep the fire going indefinitely no matter how many flingomatics are running. Mobs will die to over damage over and over allowing you to farm in peace. I also have a lightning rod placed since lightning occurs everything the APSS is struck. As for the amount of thulecite spent, this is my seventh world. I've raided all the ruins on the way (RIP backpacks). I make all my crowns with construction amulets and I can use green gems to make thulecite, marble, and pan flute uses. Besides that, I mainly use thulecite walls in the nicest areas on my base. Wood and grass walls are underrated. APSS Drop Table Is Listed Here APSS Drop %'s Are Listed Here Cheers,
  19. Hi all, I made a video about fighting/kiting Deerclops I'm under the impression that you should not kite Deerclops but tank him instead. 1. He's very easily tankable with early game items. i.e. hambat/tent spike, football helmet, and log armor. 2. You'll lose more sanity running back and forth. Kiting tends to lead to insane fights and nightmare creatures. 3. Standing next to a camp fire prevents you from getting frozen. It's also indestructible (Not in DST). I made the mistake of not standing close enough and was frozen once. 4. You're more likely to freeze kiting. Since it's a good idea to wear armor while fighting Deerclops, kiting him back and forth instead of tanking next to a file might end up taking freezing damage. 5. The fight is over in roughly 15 seconds. This just as easily doable even with Wes and Wendy's 75% damage. Sorry for that terrible quality~ Uploaded this from Twitch: Late game, I usually tank with nightmare armor equipped second and thulekite crown equipped first. The nightmare armor takes the bulk of damage and my crown ends up taking 1% damage. Even with Deerclops sanity aura, nightmare armor equipped, and swinging a dark sword, I end up with more than half sanity still full with Wicker. As it stands, this is the only mob or giant that I think should be tanked instead of kited. Enjoy.
