  1. I was testing a few mods and had the dev mod to set god mode (including 10 times speed). Seriously disturbing stuff right there.
  2. haha. I hosed more than one DS Chrome install before I come up with the steps above...
  3. Sweet! Here's how to install them in your Chrome version: on Windows.... %APPDATA%\..\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\File System\000\p\00 Note: "000" may be a higher number. Steps: [*]CLOSE CHROME! [*]Drill down to the Don't Starve game and save game files (they're in the same place shown above) [*]The files will be named random numbers with no extension. [*]Find the 1.4meg file and rename it with a .ZIP extension. [*]Double-click to open in your Zip program. [*]You'll see a 'data' directory in the Zip file. [*]Drill down: data > scripts > prefabs [*]Drag all the updated no-rot files into the prefabs directory. [*]Save and close the zip file and remove the .zip extension. [*]WARNING: If you forget to remove the .zip extension and try to run the game it will hose up your whole installation. Usual Warnings apply: Do this at your own risk. Back up this whole directory first.
  4. If anyone's interested, I've updated the 'Winter update' food files so there's no rot. I also have instructions on how to get them into your Chrome install.
  5. I have found how to get to the files. They're random names with no extension, but if you match the file sizes, you can add .zip to them and open them up. Scrips directory is in there and you can plop your files there, remove .zip and you're off and running.Path in Chrome: filesystem:http://dontstarve-release.appspot.com/persistent/and file location on my Portable Chrome drive:W:\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\Data\profile\Default\File System\000\p\00Tried an experiment this morning. Took one of my Steam save games and copied it over to the Chrome directory (above). Copied over a recent Chrome save game and it loaded in Chrome perfectly.
  6. This is true. I'm an old gamer from way back and this game put me off (pissed me off actually) until I figured out how to manually make it playable for more than a few deaths (save game backup, no rot and continue after death mods mainly). All the things that could be in the game as a difficulty setting. Let the roque-types play the full punishing, unforgiving game and let the more casual gamers in on the game too.
  7. Yep, you can. You just need to know where they are. Example on my PortableChrome:W:\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\Data\profile\Default\File System\000\p\00All the game files are there with random numbered names. Just check which one's are the most recent after you save and exit. Then copy them into a sub-directory and copy them back if you need.
  8. I also play from Chrome portable and found the save games here under randomly generated file names. You find the last two that were changed when you save and quit and those are your saves.E:\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\Data\profile\Default\File System\000\p\00At least with Chrome 'portable' your saves travel with you.
  9. Don't really expect any as screwy as the file system is for Chrome, but thought I'd ask.
  10. I can attest to that. I had a similar world. So many bee hives with killer bees that I died just trying to get past it.
  11. How many of you would be so gung-ho about a new update designed to kill you in even more ways if you hadn't figured out how to back up your save games?Be honest now.
  12. Thanks for your work on this mod. Rot was always a serious drag on the game.
  13. +10. This would be easy to do as well since you already have the file open. Just save it unchanged with ever incrementing numbers.I myself have about 40 copies of 219740. I manually do this before each edit in case of trouble.
  14. Just for the heck of it, I tried your save game editor on my Chrome save game. It actually worked (once). Most of the other times I get this error:Error: : data\scripts\gamelogic.lua:372: Entites missing from savedata on load LUA ERROR stack traceback: =[C] in function 'assert' data\scripts\gamelogic.lua(372,1) in function 'DoInitGame' data\scripts\screens\mainscreen.lua(202,1) in function 'cb' data\scripts\frontend.lua(66,1) in function 'Update' data\scripts\update.lua(42,1)
  15. It is a real danger and it forces you to play it safe. It takes hundreds of days in this game to accomplish anything because you're playing it safe to stay alive. I'm on day 46 once I stopped being so reckless, but it also involves venturing out a bit and then running back like a little girl half way through the day so I make it back to camp.To OP's point, there have been times where I wanted to play, but the threat of dying and loosing a week's worth put me off.(then I back up my game files and go have some fun )
  16. Mods on my end are only the no-rot mod. I was later able to edit the willow save file after I played it again...
  17. v0.3.2 crashes on start up when editing my third slot save with a "The given key was not present in the dictionary" That's with Willow. Edits my Wilson save just fine.
  18. Man, why don't you just have the Abominable Snow man walk in first day of winter and kill you right off the bat? We actually want the majority of people to be able to make it through the game. Well, maybe not.
  19. Double Yay! You other two should take it off line.
  20. Considering you can't (realistically) get to your Chrome game saves to backup, you might not want to go there at all (other than a little lunchtime time waster).
  21. Yeah, I thought "didn't I just start a thread on this?"
