  1. The new update has broken the game on Windows XP. There is currently no fix for it. The Dev's will be working on a fix Soon hopefully. Source: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/showthread.php?2476-Crash-Doesn-t-start-after-update&p=19777&viewfull=1#post19777
  2. [Crash] Doesn't start after update

Steam is not capable of imposing files from newer versions of Windows over earlier versions. To the Devs: The game now requires files from Windows Vista or newer. The game is 100% unable to start on Windows XP machines, and therefore cannot give an updated log.txt file. Any log.txt files you receive from players who have Windows XP will be from the previous update when the game did work. EDIT: This is not meant to sound harsh, but re-reading it makes it seem that way. That isn't my intention.
  3. [Crash] Doesn't start after update

Nope, didn't work. The game is still requires dwmapi.dll, which is a part of Windows Vista. (And newer versions of Windows)
  4. [Exploit] New Tool: Shaxe

This isn't an exploit. Digging up grass will yield both drops, the grass and the grass plant. Same with saplings dropping themselves and twigs, and berry bushes dropping berries and the berry bush.
  5. [Crash] Doesn't start after update

Being a file specific to Windows Vista or newer, it would probably be a very bad idea to manually install it on Windows XP. I've got multiple computers, so I will give it a go to test it anyway. I'll edit this post with the outcome. Long story short, it can't be done. Even with that file installed, other critical Windows files need to be replaced.
  6. [Crash] Doesn't start after update

I believe I've found out why this is happening. I've got the same problem, so I tried starting the game manually. It gives the error that it can't start because dwmapi.dll is missing. As far as I can tell, that file belongs to Windows Vista or better. I have Windows XP. I'm guessing the update has changed the system requirements so that now Windows Vista or greater is required to play the game.

  8. Bug Submission Please choose a category [Gameplay] Platform Steam Version Number ????? Issue title 96 Hunger Points Lost For Sleeping, Strong Man Steps to reproduce 1) Play with the Strong Man character 2) Craft a Straw Roll 3) Sleep Describe your issue I have uploaded a video demonstrating this bug here: As far as I can tell, the Straw Roll is deducting hunger points from the characters total as if the characters total was only 100. When using the Strong Man character, this makes using the Straw Roll extremely costly. In the video example above, I lost 96 hunger Points for sleeping instead of the expected <10 points. This bug only affects characters who have more than 100 hunger points.
  9. Bug Submission Please choose a category [Graphics] Platform Steam Version Number ????? Issue title Using the wrong tool for the job (Visual Bug Only) Steps to reproduce 1) Equip a shovel 2) Order a tree stump to be dug up 3) Quickly change tools 4) Watch the wrong tool be used to dig up the stump Describe your issue I have uploaded a video showing how to reproduce this bug here: This visual bug affects all tools for all jobs as long as its the last time the job needs to be done. For example, mining a rock. Hit the rock 5 times with a pickaxe, then walk away a few steps, order your guy/girl to mine the rock, and switch the pickaxe for something else, such as the axe or a spear. The rock will be mined and broken, and you'll visually see whatever equipped tool be used instead of the pickaxe. This is a visual bug only and cannot be used to exploit durability loss on tools.
  10. I just encountered this myself. I'm also using Steam.
  11. Bug Submission Please choose a category [Gameplay] Platform Steam Version Number ????? Issue title Interacting with the game world while paused. Steps to reproduce 1) Pause the game by using the Esc key. 2) While paused, open the world map with the Tab key. 3) Leave the world map with the tab key. 4) Play the game normally while the pause screen stays up. Describe your issue I have uploaded a video to YouTube demonstrating the bug and how to reproduce it: The video first shows that its impossible to collect grass while paused (As you'd expect). The video then shows how to unpause the game while leaving the pause menu displayed. When the game is in this unpaused state, sounds don't play, but things like grass and berries can still be collected.
  12. I was not able to find any threads on here pertaining to YouTube monetisation nor could I find anything on the website about it. Does Klei Entertainment allow videos containing gameplay footage from Don't Starve to be monetised on YouTube?
  13. Bug Submission Please choose a category [Gameplay] Platform Steam Issue title Rabbit traps cause food to vanish from inventory Steps to reproduce 1) Get a trap, either new or used. 2) Place trap down near rabbit hole 3) Cause rabbit to run into hole 4) Stand right by the trap when it closes catching the rabbit 5) Watch a stack of food disappear from your inventory Describe your issue I have uploaded a video to YouTube demonstrating the bug and how to reproduce it: Basically if you are standing near a trap when it catches a rabbit you will lose one stack of food from your inventory. It doesn't appear to matter what the food is, it will vanish. The bug does not affect non-food items, such as tools. Other info: I have made Steam verify the files. There were no problems. PC Specs: OS: Windows XP Home SP3 RAM: 2GB Video: nVidia GeForce GTS 250 CPU: Intel Pentium Dual-Core E6500
  14. So we should post bugs in the General Discussion and wait for the moderators to move the thread into the Bug Tracker subforum? EDIT: Undone previous edit. Problem has been fixed.
  15. The title pretty much says it all. I've found what I believe to be a bug, and cannot find it in the list of known bugs, fixed bugs or archived bugs. Every time I click the button to submit a bug, I receive this message: This same message occurs when using either Firefox or Internet Explorer. Should I post the bug here instead? EDIT: I can reply to already existing bug threads, but cannot create a new one. EDIT2: Problem fixed. Now this link works: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/forms.php?do=form&fid=1
