  1. I can get behind a sturdy hut. That's not too far off, what with the fact we can build walls. With a roof we could get out of the tent. A nice straw roof or even an earthen roof would be fine. But a dock...why would be need it? Docks are for large ships. I think they mean a pier, because that's doable with wood and rope.
  2. Will flowers grow in the prairie/grass regions of the game?
  3. Just had an awesome encounter with both of these at once. Shortly after the Pine started after me I heard howling, and two hounds came after me. I ran them by the PG, and it resulted in a spectacular double KO fatality (both hound and PG killed each other). I did have to take out the second hound myself. Since I'd already hit the PG, he only had enough life left to off one hound, but I suspect he has enough HP to kill at least two hounds.
  4. Okay, so what's the best method for attacking wild hives without getting mauled/stung by bees?
  5. I have a sneaking suspicion that Abigail is related to the sanity stat we don't have yet. I'm betting she's a version of Wilson the ball.
  6. I've seen folks calling the cardinals "red birds" for awhile now. They're called cardinals.
  7. Okay, what's the best way to do this now? Are we supposed to destroy hives to get the honey? Do we catch bees with the bug net? Do I need a keeper's hat before I even think about it?
  8. Okay. Time to build things far apart so the fire won't spread.
  9. I never noticed "light" as an option. I never seem to accidentally start forest fires either. Apparently all those Smokey the Bear ads worked really well on me.
  10. How do you get this item? When not playing as Willow.
  11. I've noticed they seems to spawn on me after I make a firepit. Should we start building the firepit away from camp now?
  12. Remember pine cones can also be used as fuel at an established firepit. I use cones for all my fire pits and have +20 on me at all times. This saves wood in the long run and gives you a way to stop Pine Guardian if he comes after you. Just start planting like mad!
  13. How many folks are using multiple base camps vs 1 base camp?
  14. When you start a new game, what's your routine? Day 1-2 gather resources and build the basic tools: Axe, pick, shovel. Spear has joined this list since the dogs were introduced. I'm also digging up bushes (but not grass and saplings) to transplant near my camp. All cooking is done at night and pine cones are used for fuel ( I try to keep at least 20 for Optimus Pine). Day 3-5 find the beefalos and start building farms. Harvest rocks/flint/gold along the way. Usually the stone campfire happens during this time also. Day 6-7 struggle to find more food while my crops are growing. Build all the tools/traps I need and start killing spiders for silk and meat. My stations are set up and I return to camp in the evening (usually).
  15. I've started building the log suit and spear much, much earlier (around day 2) instead of waiting almost 7 days to get everything up and running. I also rush to find the beefalo for protection (if all else fails, dogs will attack them and get crushed by the herd). Anyone else changed their start up routine?
  16. Not sure I like this change. I don't want everything to feel like farming. Also, since when does grass need encouragement from man to grow? It's usually the opposite: Make the grass stop growing!
  17. I would just like to suggest adding skunks so that we can get musk for hound repellent.
  18. Yes. Yes, those would be dogs. They aren't barking so much as roaring like a lion or sounding like Lost's Smoke Monster. Excuse me, I have to run like a fool.
  19. It's night...and I hear this strange sound I've never heard before. Kinda a like a box being pushed across a floor, scraping as it goes. But it's intermittent. I don't think it's a dog. Sounds a little like Lost's Smoke Monster.
  20. One thing I would like to see is seasonal representation of Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter. By which, I mean weather changes, flora/fauna changes, and variable resources. So, for example, flowers on the spring, but less until none in the winter.
  21. You know what? Now that we have hounds, we need skunks. You know to throw off the scent.
