      UPDATED - Studio Note & Rhymes with Play Streams Temporarily Canceled.   03/06/2020

      UPDATE (3/19/20): Just a quick note regarding the team at Klei Entertainment. As noted previously, everybody at Klei Entertainment is working from home due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Many of us have been working especially hard to help maintain operations as we all move out of the office and into our homes and with everything being done online, extra time must be spent in organizing conversations and trying to maintain communication. As some of you may know, we have a very open office and we are almost always in contact with each other as we go about our days. Some of us work across multiple teams and that work has become a bit more challenging for everybody.   That being said, at this time the transition has not caused any major disruption in our operations, but it would be overly optimistic to expect that we won't have any delays at all. We're going to have to be especially mindful about this in the coming weeks and make sure we don't take on too much work so we can keep things running smoothly.  We will let you know as we see how these changes affect our timelines.  Thanks UPDATE (3/10/20):
      The test yesterday went well. We got the whole office (mostly) to work from home without significant issue. As a result, Klei Staff that can work from home have been asked to do so until further notice.  This means that we will have to cancel the Rhymes with Play stream until we are all back in the office. This shouldn't affect anything else at least in the short term, but if things change I will update you all here.  Original Post: Hey everybody,  This Tuesday March 10th, 2020 the entire staff at Klei will be working remotely for 1 day in an effort to prepare the studio to work remotely for a little while if the need arises.  Klei is already set up pretty well to allow for working remotely, however we are going to have a one day "dry run" with the whole studio so that we can identify and avoid any issues or downtime that may arise should choose to implement a work from home policy due to COVID-19 outbreak concerns. Unfortunately this does mean that we will be canceling the “Rhymes with Play” Art stream this coming Tuesday, however unless the situation changes we expect everything at the studio to be back to normal Wednesday and we’ll continue our regular stream schedule Thursday March 12th. If the situation changes at all, we'll let you know. Thanks for your understanding.

  2. Campfire Dizziness

    Maybe they might add in a section to change the graphics setting in the upcoming versions. It might help. If it's making you dizzy it may be throwing you into a mini seizure. It happens with some games depending on the person. Changing brightness or quality of graphics may work. Be careful though as it could throw you into a full seizure if exposed to it over longer periods of time.
  3. Creature Suggestions

    I agree, it seems way to big for Wilson to handle. Unless you plan on building a tank out of twigs. Would not be a good character to fight against, but maybe a good character to talk to. Maybe feed meat and will give you something in return. But not a moving creature, a static one so it's not knocking over trees. Also could make it to where if you get to close without meat, it eats you...but that may be too far. Anyways, could be a creature that maxwell put in..ect.

    Wow, I like where all this is going. Great ideas excess. The beginning of the game would be hard to survive. Could take it one step further. Pigmen are... well, pigs. I have had them eat my morsels before right after killing a rabbit. Very irritating. Why not have them eat dropped items if they see them. That way you don't get them back. Or maybe just the food. Instead of having to steal the equipment part back, make it to where you have to buy it back from the big pig with...gold nuggets. I agree about the teleporting idea, it would make it way too easy. But how about mounts. To make the travel a little faster. I can see the little guy riding that spider now, or rabbit...poor, little rabbit... Anyways, I like the idea that the chest can protect your goods. I would really like to see the magical amulets. I think that has some interesting possibilities to it. But might not let Wilson be able to use it, we already went against science once with the effigy.
  5. So the housing idea... I get your point on implementing it and how it would take a lot of work. But I think you may be thinking too hard on that one. If it was similar to the tent where it was a specific item, not one that you can walk inside, I think would be easier. I mentioned it before and said for the player to be able to customize it. I wasn't specific enough. What I meant was like to research a lean-to and then be able to build it onto the house. With the lean to acting as like a chest or something of the sort. Nothing big, just something you can add onto like that. As for surviving. Three things you need when you "survive". Food, water, and shelter. So the house would fit in with surviving. As a game designer, the players are an important part of deciding what to put into the game. It's not really what I would like to play as the designer, but what would make this game a hit with the majority of the people that play it. Basic concept design ideas come from input from players. You can make the most dynamic game in the world but if no one is interested then it defeats the purpose of making the game. Let the people say their ideas, you don't have to put them in the game, but there may be that one suggestion that takes the game to a whole new level. If you tell them to quit expressing themselves and giving their thoughts on what they think would improve the game, you may be silencing that stroke of genius one person may have that could make this from a good game to a great game. It is in beta, and beta is the time for testing and implementing ideas from the developer or the fans. Vulturas, I don't think people are complaining about you being a critic, but for the way you put things. A critic criticizes and lets people know how to improve. "this is beta", is not a way to improve. Take their ideas and improve on them, let them know why it can't work, or find a way to help the developer be able to implement it if he so chooses. It is beta, so lets pretend that we are "testing" the game.
  6. ok, campfires...still already on the map. Along with the big pig, which has always been surrounded by other pigs. Graves. ect. Anyways you got my point. And what would you call it if not an army of pig men. Equipped characters that will attack when you do...hmm. anyways, parallelblade, your ideas could be interesting. I'm curious now.
  7. Love it all. Great ideas. I think the cave idea would be great. Maybe you can use the fireflys to smear on the axe or other weapon to make a glow in the dark weapon.

    We all know it beta, fair question though. It's kinda like the amulets ect. Ahhh, limitless uses of metal.

    I think it would be really interesting to see rabid beefalo. Could be really dangerous. Maybe after beefalo getting bit by a spider.
  10. 1. I like that idea. The buttons do occupy more space then necessary.2. The map does have icons for fireplaces, ect. Doesn't need more detail really. Although the compass is a good idea.3. They will probably add the options in later again. I think options are essential to any game really.4. Never have my sound on so I really can't comment on that.5. Best idea on this. An army at your disposal with customized equipment. Could be really interesting.
  11. Some ideas

    1. It may be an easy way of getting food if you don't know how to stand between the rabbit and the hole...little more effective and faster. I agree with you traps should grant more food.2. I had the same problem with spiders at one point in time. Armor and pigmen help. if not use a torch and run. Be careful at night even with a fire.3. A lot of people agree with the recycling. It's a great idea. With more people asking about it could help the developers decide on what ideas are more popular. Beta is the place for ideas so keep it up.4. The list for the science machine is kinda a trial and error. Like it was said. But think of it like your in a strange world without any knowledge. Everything is trial and error. But it would be nice if as you go a list is created of what points are distributed. Might be a good use for the paper.5. Eating all the fruits and vegetables you want, you will still dehydrate after so long. Plus all this guy has is vegetables...no fruit. Anyways I second the idea of water to survive too.
  12. So that was weird. My last thread didn't even last 24 hours and it was closed. Wow. But continuing on my ideas. Michael M., I like that idea. For the game to progressively get harder as days go by. I like it. The idea with using robots, if you have wood for a body, iron ore or some other kind of metal, and a fire to melt the metal for crafting, you can make a robot. I know all about pigmen, they are not a companion. More like a pet. They follow you around and do what you do. But a companion that would do random things during the day without input from the player whether good or bad for you. Someone that has something to say every once in a while, maybe pushing you in the right direction...that's a companion. I understand that you need to have wood for fire and fire to live. But being able to plant a mini forest next to your camp allows you to have everything near you. Hench not having to explore. I understand that this game is in beta, hence the reason for the suggestions. This is the point in the game where the game is being built up and tinkered with. So suggestions are not a bad thing. Hopefully this helps the development team. I did read about the weather idea. I like that idea also.
  13. 1. Once you build a farm it gets boring. You can live off of your farm and stay there to live. Might change that up to where you get surprises for exploring as an incentive. Like points for something like research or experience.2. The experience system needs tweeking. I was on day 27 and started new map. Lost all experience. I don't think you should have to die to get your experience. It should be a running total for playing the game or you have to do something to gain the experience.3. It would be neat to see a house that you can customize. Maybe build a house with collected items, then to customize the house takes more scavenging to keep the game from hitting a stand still.4. The research system also needs to be tweeked. I can plant eggs, then kill it, take the items, then plant, and repeat all day to get an unlimited amount of silk to use for research. Maybe have everything you do give you intelligence points that you use at the research center instead of items. 5. It would be nice to have the game tied to the google account instead of the computer. I like to play at work sometimes but can't continue a saved game from the house. Just an idea. 6. It would also be neat to see maybe one other character in there as like a partner that you have to find...or save. Just someone to keep you company. The conversation possibilities are endless.7. Would be interesting to see more monster variety and maybe boss monsters per island or something equivalent. 8. Different armor and weapons to be made would be a plus. Maybe ad in iron ore deposits for stronger armor or actual weapons.9. Science seems to be the theme here so what about a robot to help. Maybe can send him on errands once a day to collect items that you normally are far away from.10. Just for kicks and to fill up the number 10 slot. How about having each character being able to craft different things depending on their abilities.Hope this gets the gears going.
  14. I just paid for the early access. Was wondering how to give a friend a copy. When I try to give a copy it tries to make me pay again. But I was under the impression that I would receive two copies with the purchase so I could give one to a friend.
