  1. I was having the same error message, so I activated and deactivated the DLC from Steam preferences menu. That didn't work, just forced it to a different (nonresponsive) error screen. I could play with the DLC activated but not vanilla. I deleted my mods folder and kplayerprefs.yaml file and it seems to fix it, or at least it's working so far.
  2. This was happening to me when trying to start vanilla after activating and deactivating the DLC. It was fixed by deleting my mods folder and kplayerprefs.yaml file.
