  1. Hello, I don't know if this principle was here before, but I tamed all my copper / iron volcanos with it and even built a rust melter. The advantages of this setup are additional amounts of copper / iron and the wide variety of materials that can be used. They are not perfect, but they work and maybe someone can make them perfect. This is one of my iron volcano tamers (the oil well is not part of it): The molten iron from the volcano flows onto the weight plates in the green rectangle. They are set to "Below 20kg". If they are below 20 kg, they open the conveyor chute above and 20kg of some material falls on it to cool down the molten iron. Once it has become solid, immediately the auto-sweeper will pick it up and transport it to the chamber below. This works, because molten liquid does not count to the weight the weight plates measure. This means that if there is only liquid on it, it will open the conveyor chute and throw something into the liquid and cool it down until it becomes solid. You can use a wide range of materials for that, anything with a melting point equal to or below the melting point of iron. You can use rust or iron ore for it and get some additional iron, which is nice. If you don't have anymore rust or don't want to spend iron ore, you can also use e.g. sedimentary rock and get iron and igneous rock. The second and third chambers (red and orange) are straight forward: cooling down the iron to about 220 °C in the red rectangle, cooling it further down to about 40 °C in the orange rectangle. The aqua tuner can cool both, the steam engine and the polluted water in the orange rectangle. This principle works also for pure rust melters with the help of volcanos or copper volcanos. Here is my rust melter (could be much smaller): And this is a copper volcano tamer which is broken right now because the chamber with the volcano became too full, but usually it works just like the iron volcano tamer: I use there sedimentary rock to cool the molten copper down. Of course you can use copper ore for it, but currently I don't have enough of it anymore. Have fun Thilo
  2. I will not buy the DLC until popular mods are implemented. You know, sweep by type, blueprints, bigger zoom-out etc. The game is no fun without them.
  3. Hello, I have the feeling that the soda machine, the juicer and the espresso machine are excluding each other, meaning that if a dupe has the soda buff, he cannot get the juicer buff additionally. Is this right? Shouldn't this be written somewhere? I built a big farm with pips, pincha pepperplants, mealwoods and bristle berries and now I see that they cannot use all together :/ Thanks, Thilo
  4. I played both, but ONI much more. DS was too challenging for me. I did not know that it will become a sandbox game if I would have become better, what I would have liked No, ONI will become a sandbox game later, too. In the beginning it is challenging. Depends on the difficulty settings, of course. For me it was never really a survival game, but a thinking and planning strategy building game. But I play on easy difficulties...
  5. Hello, if I click on "Load" in the main menu, it takes about 2-3 minutes until the window with my save files shows up. Cloud saves are not activated. The time it takes depends on the number of save files I have. It was much, much faster before the cloud update. Any suggestions? Thanks, Thilo
  6. For example steam turbines for energy generation, sour gas generator for energy generation or melting rust into iron. But all of them except for the steam turbines may be a bit complicated and are more late-game stuff. You can also google for "oni volcano tamer".
  7. Nice idea, this could also work with steel mesh tiles and magma (+ vacuum) to kill poke shells.
  8. Yeah, I like the second one. Simple, efficient and doesn't need much space. I will use that. Thanks!
  9. Hello, has somebody made an auto-killer for critters that provide meat? I thought about letting them fall into lava, but sadly they don't fall if I open an automatic door below them ^^ Thanks, Thilo
  10. Sweep by Type:
  11. There is a mod for this. This should have been in the base game for a long, long time...
  12. I thought about this, too. But then I thought of what would happen if some monsters would come to my 300 hours base and kill all my dupes. Colony lost. Mind lost. I think this is not a base defense game and it shouldn't be one. It's way too much work to build a good base to watch some monsters destroy it. It's a building and thinking game.
  13. I notice a fps drop when zooming far out, but it's not that much. Maybe about -5 fps if fully zoomed out. This can't be the reason why Klei does not implement this. Honestly, I will not buy the DLC until mods are enabled or they implemented some of the mods that should be in the base game. This is for example bigger zoom-out, horizontal rotation of all buildings, manual delivery on/off option for all operational buildings and blueprints/a proper copy option (!). Those mods are not big changes but they make a big change. Klei should be able to implement all of these in not more than a day (except for the copy option maybe).
  14. Hello, Edit: Oh, I understand. There were not enough ressources available. if my rockets return the cargo bays are always only half full with roughly 500 kg of material, not 1000 kg. Is this desired behaviour? Thanks, Thilo
  15. Hello, in the base game there are liquids and gases with the property "Light emitter". Actually this feature is not implemented. It would be very interesting if some liquids and gases would emit light. I think of transparent gas and liquid pipes (+ a new use for glass which is currently mostly useless, except for solar panels) to lighten out workspaces, different light colors for decoration purposes and light for running solar panels. In exchange for the light the liquids/gases lose mass and/or heat. What do you think? Thanks, Thilo
  16. Hello, could it be somehow possible to melt Abyssalite with a melting point of 3422 °C into liquid tungsten (then cool it down for tungsten)? How can I reach this temperature? Thanks, Thilo
  17. Another oil boiler would be good, yes. Thanks. I could run petroleum generators and use the polluted water for farming. I have an oil boiler, but it uses only one volcano and 90 °C oil. It does not produce very much petroleum. I am playing the base game, not the DLC.
  18. Hey, after 1800 cycles I finally visited a Niobium planet and now have plenty of Thermium. What can I do with it? I already built a sour gas generator without Thermium and have way enough power. The only usage I can imagine is to use it for a pump for an oil fissure. What else? Thanks, Thilo
  19. Ridiculous! This is still an issue, after more than a year.
  20. Hello, I recently build liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen rockets and noticed that the only way to make hydrogen is a) electrolyzer and b) the one hydrogen vent. As you need as much liquid oxygen like liquid hydrogen to fly the rockets, there is usually much more oxygen made than hydrogen. This means, the only way to get rid of the oxygen is to dump it into space. What a waste! It would be good to have a new building that creates hydrogen and in reality there is one: a steam reformer. In short it takes methane (or natural gas), steam and oxygen and produces carbon dioxide and hydrogen. Especially that it takes steam would add a bit more balance to the game as there are not much uses for the steam vents. I would suggest that the building takes only steam and natural gas and outputs hydrogen and carbon dioxide, to make it a bit more simple. What do you think about this? Thilo
  21. Hello, you often have multiple systems like petroleum boiler, sour gas boiler, some farms and critter ranches etc. all over the map with huge gaps between them. From time to time you need to look after your systems if everything goes right. Then you have to scroll over the whole map, find the system, watch it, find the next one, watch it, scroll back where you are currently building something and so on... What I want is a "shortcut" feature. You can add strings to a list on the screen (I think left below the warning messages would be a good place). This saves the current location where you are on the map. If you click on the string e.g. "Slickster Farm 1", "Oil Well 1", "Oil Well 2", "Temp Current Construction", it teleports you to the saved location on the map, like if you double-click on a dupe in the vitals-list. This lets you fast switch between your systems. Additionally there could be an entry "Last Location" which takes you to the location where the WASD-keys have been pressed the last time. Thanks, Thilo
  22. No, please! Dupes are too dumb for this. Usually they jump aside when they removed the ladder or tile they are standing on, but this doesn't work always. Sometimes they just fall. This would be another annoying thing in the game. So either make the dupes smarter or let them fall without injuries.
  23. Yeah, there is no reason why a building could not be rotated at least horizontally.
