Starting resources feels much like coddling. It lessens the survival aspect. Will this actually be the default setting? Surely the dropping of items only applies to those being kicked? One issue I can see otherwise would be as a regular returning to a long-running server, only to have all ones items dropped on previous log out, used up or scattered all over the map.

This is disappointing, since this was used as an anti-griefing tool for things that weren't renewable. People have been careless and done a disservice, for doing it so openly to many players' chagrin and for this then being reported. With that being said, I hope Klei find new ways to make non-renewables renewable. Fossils, aenemys, grass tufts, reeds etc.
