      UPDATED - Studio Note & Rhymes with Play Streams Temporarily Canceled.   03/06/2020

      UPDATE (3/19/20): Just a quick note regarding the team at Klei Entertainment. As noted previously, everybody at Klei Entertainment is working from home due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Many of us have been working especially hard to help maintain operations as we all move out of the office and into our homes and with everything being done online, extra time must be spent in organizing conversations and trying to maintain communication. As some of you may know, we have a very open office and we are almost always in contact with each other as we go about our days. Some of us work across multiple teams and that work has become a bit more challenging for everybody.   That being said, at this time the transition has not caused any major disruption in our operations, but it would be overly optimistic to expect that we won't have any delays at all. We're going to have to be especially mindful about this in the coming weeks and make sure we don't take on too much work so we can keep things running smoothly.  We will let you know as we see how these changes affect our timelines.  Thanks UPDATE (3/10/20):
      The test yesterday went well. We got the whole office (mostly) to work from home without significant issue. As a result, Klei Staff that can work from home have been asked to do so until further notice.  This means that we will have to cancel the Rhymes with Play stream until we are all back in the office. This shouldn't affect anything else at least in the short term, but if things change I will update you all here.  Original Post: Hey everybody,  This Tuesday March 10th, 2020 the entire staff at Klei will be working remotely for 1 day in an effort to prepare the studio to work remotely for a little while if the need arises.  Klei is already set up pretty well to allow for working remotely, however we are going to have a one day "dry run" with the whole studio so that we can identify and avoid any issues or downtime that may arise should choose to implement a work from home policy due to COVID-19 outbreak concerns. Unfortunately this does mean that we will be canceling the “Rhymes with Play” Art stream this coming Tuesday, however unless the situation changes we expect everything at the studio to be back to normal Wednesday and we’ll continue our regular stream schedule Thursday March 12th. If the situation changes at all, we'll let you know. Thanks for your understanding.

  1. I think it's new. A lot of tool tips were added at some point, like the tooltips that pop up on tool tips... In this picture, I first hovered over Ferterlizer Synthisizer, then on the 'Natural Gas' text. So now it tells us in game about the special output temperatures of various machines! Edit: Or has that always been there and I only just noticed?
  2. First thing I noticed is you have a lot more lights than usual. It doesn't do much for you except for growing bristle blossoms and operating certain machines. It's nice for decor but a few potplants or artworks instead wouldn't use power. Your mealwood farm is pretty huge. If you're just using it for feeding dupes liceloaf you could scale back quite a bit to save on labour with supplying dirt and harvesting. 4 mealwood per dupe is enough, plus a bit extra for when they don't harvest in time, etc. Try adding a firepole beside your main staircase. It really speeds up movement. Hover the mouse over the asteroid (top left where it says Cycles and it will show you the map features.
  3. All trait/interest additive pairs are possible except gourmet and cooking. Grease Monkey + Operating Quick Learner + Researching Mole Hands + Digging Caregiver + Doctoring Supplying + Buff Twinkletoes + Suit Wearing Interior Decorating + Decorating Any idea why? Any other curious exclusions? I've been wondering if every dupe can get every interest/trait or if there are some biases or hard coded stuff.
  4. TIL gourmet + cooking not possible

    Selected cooker on the screen where you select your starting dupes then rolled a bunch. Also found a steam thread where someone else said they couldn't roll such a dupe. Gourmet is certainly a trait with a penalty but it's technically a positive trait. More importantly it doesn't prevent a dupe from cooking, so that doesn't answer it, I'm afraid Heh, trypopobia can't be rolled on a starting dupe... for entirely sensible reasons.

    I just searched for this suggestion and found this post. Diode gates would make a great addition for the automation update. Using negative logic creates a lot of circumstances where a diode gate would be useful.
  6. What I find most cheeky about this build is the staggering amounts of oxygen it can produce for such a small heat & electrical cost.
  7. How would the oxygen pressure impact what's happening below the waterlogged mesh tiles?
  8. I did a test and, from eyeballing it, it looks like the deoxidisers run about 50% without the bead pump. Seems like a reasonable trade off for simplicity. There's no need to limit to 5 deoxidisers like I originally imagined. Edit: I should clarify, I did a test, then discarded it. The screenshot above is for illustrative purposes only and was not exactly how I did the test.
  9. Any plans to revisit the medical/disease systems? Are you happy with the current balance of that stuff?
  10. Cool build! Massive improvement over the original design. Can it work without the drip-teleporter if you limit it to 5 deoxidiers?
  11. This bug has really done my head in. I redesigned my volcano tamer with it in mind and have been doing some efficiency testing but it seems to be doing over 100% efficiency now, 112% actually. The method I used to minimise the effect of this bug was the single-tile method (no horizontal flow permitted). I generated 6130.5kJ of energy out of 3465.9kg of magma that was at 1700c, cooling to igneous at 98c. In theory it should have required 3883.8kg of magma. The temperature of components, fluids and gasses at each end of the test was accounted for. I'm not trying to exploit the game for a reverse version of this bug but I seem to have done it accidentally in a way that I don't know how to avoid :/
  12. There's little point in speculating. I really don't think bringing up the term occlusion culling is relevant to this bug, or to Oxygen Not Included in any way. You keep asserting that a re-write is coming as if it is common knowledge.
  13. All I was doing was adding my voice to the chorus of people asking for this to be addressed. Generally speaking, having a bug report that contains a reproducible steps elevates it above the sea of junk reports. Neither of the reports linked in this thread have any kind of developer response. That said, I'm not such an avid follower of Klei to know how they 'manage' forum bug reports, if at all. Have they acknowledge the bug? It sounds like you've read something I haven't, which is entirely possible. Could you link me to where they say they acknowledge the bug or are proposing the re-write? I'd love to take a look. I'm surprised such drastic action is being considered.
  14. Wachunga's bug report is excellent. Devs, please take a look at this, it's very easy to reproduce the problem as described.
