M-maybe they actually met once?
I guess I'll just make stupid fanfiction about friendships that never happened. cries
Note that I love this game as it is now. I just also really love "Power of Friendship" bullcrap and the thought of taking on a horrible, unforgiving world with your best buds by your side. It gets me all sentimental.
SpoilerI don't have an excuse to upload this one. It's my favourite card illustration probably.
Also maybe confirms my theory that Smith is a really big dude.

For a bit there I thought that 2017 Griftlands could potentially exist in the same timeline as 2019 Griftlands, but things don't really line up. The current story is that Sal zipped straight to Murder Bay on her quest for vengeance as soon as she bought her freedom.
But then again she purchased her freedom from working as a bounty hunter... and Smith is a known thug...
SpoilerThen maybe she did hunt him at some point? Steve/Falcon/??? doesn't really have a place here, but--
SpoilerSteve may have visited the Grog 'n Dog at some point.
... and subsequently suffered from Fsshcake consumption.

Walking home from work today and saw a guy--one of the ones who is generally seen out and about a lot-- biking past the highschool wearing one of their t-shirts.
Dude's in his 40s I think.
First thought was "Wow, that's the definition of 'hello fellow kids'" and the second "how the heck did he even get that shirt?". I'm pretty sure he has no kids, and even if he did, why would you buy your kid's highschool gym t-shirt for yourself? What the heck?
I'm second guessing whether I identified this person correctly, but I'm 90% certain he has a moustache a teenager couldn't grow.

Jumped the gun on Griftlands because I really wanted a pet robot dog (and I'm obsessed with the art).
Unreasonably amused by this bug where the autodog will help with negotiations.
I suspect that Klei made another unique engine for this game, so I can't use the usual datamining tools for Unity games and Don't Starve. I'll have to settle for screenshots and snips for art ref.
Crossover!
The illustration work in this game is so frickin' good. I'd love to examine the cards and boss slides more closely.

Looking for ref and found

Also dug up the 2017 Now Defunct trailer for ref purposes.

Apparently? It could have been changed since the Olden Days, and maybe Kevin doesn't want to repeat his mistake from Don't Starve (everyone has a W name).
But if there's Sal and Smith, and only three playable characters, the third guy may as well have an S name yanno? We can only hope.
SpoilerHe kinda looks like a falcon, I guess. Has the right nose for it.

There's gotta be a better way of tracking an artist's work than scrolling through their entire Twitter timeline.
SpoilerOne day I'll own every book Jorge Corona ever worked on and I shall examine them relentlessly.

Reading Stand Still, Stay Silent and this reminds me of the pikachu meme for some reason.

Guys I have a small problem.
Remember that time I gave drew Jambell as a Griftlands character? That's all well and good, however, I gave him suspenders and an axe... signature Jesse things.
... Was my subconscious trying to tell me something? Help, I don't know!
Well anyway, I wanted to draw something for Jan and Jesse's shared birthday--what about a Griftlands thing! The game is important to Jesse, and Jan would probably be impartial. Here are their designs so far:
I think I managed to keep Jesse's suspenders, beard, and axe different enough from Jambell's, so that maybe no one will make the connection right off the bat. If any of you have recommendations at all, please share. We've got less than a week! (I'm 99% sure their birthday is on the 21st).

That is some record-speed post degeneration. Asked for art feedback and boy did it spiral out of control quickly. I blame myself for that.
@minespatch you probably shouldn't ping devs and mods unless there is something that actually concerns them, i. e. something that needs to be fixed.
Anyway, here's some colouring. And I ask ye people, is the contrast high enough? Some areas, especially around Jesse's eyes, are perhaps a bit unclear. Thoughts? Anything?

I dunno if I've mentioned this before, but I withdrew from my art college program. Funny, since I tried so hard to get accepted in the first place (it's fairly competitive). Anyway, I got this email from one of my professors and now I'm sad. He was great: funny, not boring, also not a hard marker as an elective prof for bachelor's degree students. I miss him, and several others. Heck, my brief college experience wasn't the most bombastic or whatever but I enjoyed it a lot.
I'm remembering why I was so desperate to get out of this rural town in the first place.
This program was way too expensive, however. It was nearly $11k for tuition alone: not including supplies or living costs. I got a few bursaries luckily, but they didn't make all that huge a difference in the grand scheme of things. I lived in residence, and that was over $7k, and so not all my expenses were covered by student loans. I owe both the government and my parents thousands of dollars each, for one year's education. Super unsustainable, especially for an art program that promises you nothing upon graduation.
I'm not sure why I'm talking about this. I feel like I'm missing out on some of the best years of my life, yet at the same time I know it wouldn't be worth the cost. This isn't even a major issue: I'm incredibly fortunate to have gone at all, and it's not like there's going to be undue suffering over this. Ultimately I made the correct decision... but the decision to stay wouldn't have been wrong either. Bleh, thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

I don't know if I'd call him an inspiration specifically, but he was a very friendly and likeable person. His classes were never stressful really, and he was just a cool person you could talk to.
I suppose I was stricken with how he remembered that I (and the rest of the students he taught that year) existed, and reached out to us on his own accord on his own time. It sucks to leave such a welcoming place, you know?
Something new... well, that would be nice. I need to continually remind myself to actually take some sort of initiative and not just vegetate at my parents forever. I suppose the plan is "get job --> pay debts --> move to Calgary with sister" but that's super vague and things could easily change. Apparently my parents are hoping to move to British Columbia sometime... I'd love to live among mountains rather than cornfields. Who can say just yet.

I'll post this on the Communal Fanart Thread when I finish a few other additional things but dang! I'm pleased with how this Steve turned out.

In today's forecast:
CERTAIN DEATH.
SpoilerAdditionally, I tend to get headaches when a storm approaches due to the increase in air pressure. Productivity has tanked. I can't even finish one drawing. blehhh
My condolences to people who live in even worse climates. And to the garbage men I can hear outside my house right now. Pray for them.

Open up Visual Studio (programming IDE) and it doesn't even let you do your own "Hello World!".
C'mon.

'kay so I was thinking of building a world as a sort of technology-based Purgatory. Like a post-apocalyptic world minus the apocalypse. Things are rough, but not too hellish. Bad enough for escape to be the greatest dream held by many. There will be supernatural, mystical, and straight up surreal stuff. Cyborgs, outlaws, mercenaries, a few robots, maybe a wizard. That kind of stuff.
Anyway. At first I wanted to call it the Techscape, but that name doesn't seem properly descriptive. Then I thought...
Hecknology.
Now is that terrible or what.

@minespatch Not this time. The comic is more long term--this random other project is a nice break from the comic process. Sometimes when one thing is difficult to focus on it's nice to work on something different.
