Guys I have a small problem.
Remember that time I gave drew Jambell as a Griftlands character? That's all well and good, however, I gave him suspenders and an axe... signature Jesse things.
... Was my subconscious trying to tell me something? Help, I don't know!
Well anyway, I wanted to draw something for Jan and Jesse's shared birthday--what about a Griftlands thing! The game is important to Jesse, and Jan would probably be impartial. Here are their designs so far:
I think I managed to keep Jesse's suspenders, beard, and axe different enough from Jambell's, so that maybe no one will make the connection right off the bat. If any of you have recommendations at all, please share. We've got less than a week! (I'm 99% sure their birthday is on the 21st).

That is some record-speed post degeneration. Asked for art feedback and boy did it spiral out of control quickly. I blame myself for that.
@minespatch you probably shouldn't ping devs and mods unless there is something that actually concerns them, i. e. something that needs to be fixed.
Anyway, here's some colouring. And I ask ye people, is the contrast high enough? Some areas, especially around Jesse's eyes, are perhaps a bit unclear. Thoughts? Anything?

@DragonMage156 I have good reason to believe that Jouste was perfectly fine and, in fact, attending a wedding.

Moved out of the house I had been living in for like 17 years. Now I'm living the college dorm life. Change is scary.
On the bright side, however, this desk is very spacious. Plenty of room for art activities.

@minespatch I reached acceptance pretty quickly. Honestly it wasn't nearly as hard to adjust as I had anticipated. I also have the quietest roommate, so that's nice. The upstairs neighbours did have a Monday night party that one time, but eventually they settled down.
Most of the stressful stuff comes from the social aspect of college. The classmates are all very nice, and I actually have some stuff in common with them (!), but then the question arises: how the frick does someone actually make friends? I spent over a year lacking any sort of meaningful connection with anybody, and it's not like I'm some sort of social butterfly who seemingly understands it without any effort in the first place. I think back to some conversations and wonder if I missed my chance and am doomed to loneliness forever. Sometimes I wonder if I have this general aura of "I'm unfriendly, go away" and people listen to their instincts. Maybe I'm obviously a jerk or something.
Well, that turned out longer than expected. It's nice to let it out though. Thank you very much for checking up on me on top of your own life issues, Minespatch! I know you had some issues with your employer, did those ever get resolved? Are you getting along with your Patreon or YouTube channel?

My boss is putting me on hold for a few days because I upset him. He has heavy pride.
Almost ready. Father and me are trying to negotiate on what kind of rewards.
My youtube channel is currently random but my father made a new youtube. He's hoping to do a joke series in the future(but we need a phone first for camera capabilities).

Got an Artstation and am fascinated with how these thumbnails line up.

@DragonMage156 Well, what are you posting art for? ArtStation is extremely career-oriented. It's not really engineered for casual or hobbyist artists. If you think you'd be intimidated by the quality of stuff that's typically posted there, I wouldn't recommend getting an account.
Personally I was just going to use it as a portfolio site. Only the cream of the crop will be posted.

I think DeviantArt and Tumblr, maybe Instagram and Twitter, are better if you want an audience who's interested in the content of your drawings more so than the technical skill.
That said, ArtStation has a lot of 3D content and tutorials, so if you're still pursuing 3D modelling, you may find something useful there. There is a subscription service for more refined tutorials, but a lot of artists post their own for free.
You can sort by media to filter out the stuff you don't care about.
It didn't take me long to find a person posting a free Blender file for educational purposes. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/RYoK0e

@watermelen671 You feeling lonely there buddy?
-
In today's forecast:
CERTAIN DEATH.
SpoilerAdditionally, I tend to get headaches when a storm approaches due to the increase in air pressure. Productivity has tanked. I can't even finish one drawing. blehhh
My condolences to people who live in even worse climates. And to the garbage men I can hear outside my house right now. Pray for them.

@Raspberry Milk Upon closer inspection, it appears to be made of the cheapest pseudo-metal known to man, so this was bound to happen sooner or later.

@minespatch Yeah, sometimes YouTube recommends decent stuff. Got lucky here. Other times it's like "You watched some ContraPoints so YA LIKE POLITICAL VIDYAS!!" and it's rough. "YA WATCHED MEME CRAP ONCE SO HERE'S A BUNCH OF MEME CRAP." Even worse is the drama videos, oh my lord.

@minespatch Here's the thing: I'll discover a channel I like, binge watch a significant portion of their videos, and then lose interest. I may return to the channel at a later time, but I do not "keep up" with any, unless they upload very infrequently. An RSS feed wouldn't help me much. Thank you, though, that could be useful for others.

'kay so I was thinking of building a world as a sort of technology-based Purgatory. Like a post-apocalyptic world minus the apocalypse. Things are rough, but not too hellish. Bad enough for escape to be the greatest dream held by many. There will be supernatural, mystical, and straight up surreal stuff. Cyborgs, outlaws, mercenaries, a few robots, maybe a wizard. That kind of stuff.
Anyway. At first I wanted to call it the Techscape, but that name doesn't seem properly descriptive. Then I thought...
Hecknology.
Now is that terrible or what.

@minespatch Not this time. The comic is more long term--this random other project is a nice break from the comic process. Sometimes when one thing is difficult to focus on it's nice to work on something different.

Another fine exemplar of my terrible sense of humour:

Perhaps the reason it's so funny is because he recorded that on stream.

I stepped away from the stream for a few minutes for whatever reason
Came back to the guy excitedly postponing his original project to animate a butternut squash hatching into one of three fake Pokemon
Puzzling, but intriguing
His design philosophy was "They should look like they want to die" and since pokemon have their noise, well, what says "kill me now" more than an ungodly shriek
The whole thing was rather surreal.

My mom looked at something I was drawing and said "You are doing well."
YEEEEEESS! After all these years FINALLY!

@minespatch I think about a year ago she said something along the lines of "you have improved" but this is probably the first instance she's given praise with no uncertainty.

Yo @watermelen671 you got noticed indirectly.

Looking for ref and found

Also dug up the 2017 Now Defunct trailer for ref purposes.

Apparently? It could have been changed since the Olden Days, and maybe Kevin doesn't want to repeat his mistake from Don't Starve (everyone has a W name).
But if there's Sal and Smith, and only three playable characters, the third guy may as well have an S name yanno? We can only hope.
SpoilerHe kinda looks like a falcon, I guess. Has the right nose for it.

I partially exploded when I saw that there was continuity in the new Oxygen Not Included short. Is this a sign of the end?
Well, I suppose space is the final frontier...

@minespatch Looking for an expression (startled man) to draw for practice, "watermelon man" was one of the popular related searches. I had to investigate.

GUYS THIS IS NOT A DRILL
THERE'S A SUBREDDIT DEDICATED TO GARFIELD HORROR

@minespatch Originally it was just the one guy, William Burke, who drew a horrifying Garfield and it turned into this whole community thing. It's beautiful.
That's pretty much everything to it, as far as I know.
He has this image on Redbubble, and I want it on a throw pillow.
