While exploring caves my map was deleted for no reason, below you can see the video... 

Local co-op offline, it's the one on the left side

Explore caves and enter, exit a lot... maybe?
Go to bugs

Something similar happened to a friend of mine, but not in the caves (his map was deleted when we loaded the game).  Not sure if they are related.
