Most ice deposited from the Ice Maker doesn't drop on the ground, it gets stuck on the machine. It can still be picked up with ease. This seems to happen because the ice 'bumps' from the top of the machine onto the ground, but usually it just remains on the top.

Just use the Ice Maker a couple times and you see it happen.
