If you walk away from the 10 or so bats that spawn, and after a while you re-engage them, they start behaving in an odd way. Many of them will stand still instead of regrouping and attacking as one. Not sure if intentional or a bug.
Steps to Reproduce
Outrun spawning bats with a walking stick. When they lose aggro, walk back to them and engage 1 by 1. Few will engage you while most will stand there and watch.
