I didn't pick the berries just dug the bushes and it didn't attack me. It didn't work with the grass.

Steps to Reproduce
I tried it with another bushes and it worked.

Can confirm, they seem to have a weird reaction to digging up berry bushes, they just run around in circles and do nothing if they were angry before. If they weren't they don't even notice.
