This bug happened to me twice over a week even if it's stated as a "rare" bug in Don't Starve Together wiki.
When I happen to chop down trees this bug occures if the Treeguard spawn from the tree I just cut down, the CTD happens because I cannot see the treeguard and it kills in the meantime. After this happens logging again into the server is impossible as it crashes as soon as it completes the loading.
My friend who hosts servers for us to play uses various mods, but since this bug is mentioned in the Don't Starve Together wiki I guess it occures in the vanilla game as well.
