screen turns black when I place the unfinished experiment

I have a problem: its day 130, I started as woody but changed to wilnona by now. I recently opened the riffs in the caves, and now I am going for celestial champion.

I did Wagstaffs storm-quests twice, and gathered enough resources to do celestial champion twice. But once I place the "unfinished experiment" on the mysterious energy, my whole screen turns black as if it was night and doesn´t go away anymore.

I can walk around, I can not teleport with my lazy explorer (though I can with my winona-teleport umbrella) and not interact in any way with the world, other than dropping items and picking them back up with space bar. Also charlie does NOT attack me, and the darkness doesn´t go away, when I put on the magic illuminsence out of my inventory. 

PLUS: the "unfinshed experiment" does actually not disappear from my "build" tab.

When I log out, and reload the save, everything is back to normal BUT the experiment is still not placed. if i place it again, **** goes dark again.....

Are you using any mods? If so, could you share a list? I'd suggest to disable all mods and try again.
 

There's some issues with placing the incomplete experiment if you use Geometric Placement mod. Do you have that one enabled?
