No treeguards, default configuration

Playing with friends for about 70 days. Chop trees from time to time, but haven't seen even a single treeguard so far. Game config: enabled caves, the rest is default. No mods enabled. What may be wrong? How can we assert that this is only a matter of probability?

Start the game; chop trees for a very long time; see no treeguards spawning

@Deilan, if everything is set to default and when you check the leveldataoverride.lua under the Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\Cluster_#\Master folder (with the # of the Cluster_# relating to the Host Game screen Slot # of the server you're using) has the line:

liefs="default",

Then Treeguards should spawn and it's only a matter of chance. Lief is the treeguards prefab name which you can use to spawn them in. So if you've confirmed that it's default in the leveldataoverride.lua, now all you can do is to test for it. I guess you'd have to spawn a lot of evergreen trees first and chop them all down until one spawns. You could hang around your spawned evergreens with Maxwell and 4x Shadow Loggers so it's faster. Here's the method you can use:

  • Pick Maxwell
  • Open console 
  • Give yourself the resources to make the Shadow Loggers: c_give('axe',4) and c_give('nightmarefuel',2)
  • Create your 4x Shadow Loggers
  • Spawn evergreens, with: c_spawn('evergreen',100) 
  • Stand beside the evergreens and wait

Keep repeating the spawn evergreen step and burn the logs and pinecones if there's too much on the ground so you don't overload your server. A treeguard has to spawn by then. I've just tested this just now with v179016 and leifs has spawned for me. Be sure to verify the integrity of the game cache if no leif still spawns for you when the server is modless with default presets.
