murder butterfly displays wrong number

When you collected two or more living butterfies, they are stacked in inventory.
If you righclick it now to murder, all of them disappear, but only one dead butterfly is given.

If you log out and log in, you have the correct amount of dead butterflies.

Why you can't reproduce this? It is easy. I just made a small world with no mods and no caves.
Then type in c_give("butterfly",20) and rightclick them in your inventory. With 95% chance the number then displayed is wrong.
But if you eat one, the number then is correct.
