On my Ubuntu 16.04 machine I moved my startup script and attempted to move my older ~/.klei/DoNotStarveTogether/ to another directory (~/Servers/DST) to try and load it there, I configured the variables to the modified startup file included, although It made new files in in ~/.klei/DoNotStarveTogether/ meaning that the script does not have any control over where the server will put it's files, the server wants to always be in the ~/.klei/DoNotStarveTogether/ regardless of what the script says.
Steps to Reproduce
1. Set up a DST server, using this guide http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/64441-dedicated-server-quick-setup-guide-linux/ 2. move the contents of the ~/.klei/ directory to an other one, in my case ~/Servers/DST/ 3. Optional but move the other files into that directory; steamcmd, the install file, startup script 4. configure the startup script, the first few variables so the startup script knows where everything is, 5. run the server, it will create new files ignoring the script
