When chopping trees from the side your axe doesn't line up with the trunk. Looks as if I'm hitting the tree with the base of the axe. Non issue in the single player version of Don't Starve. Is this a server player location issue?
Steps to Reproduce
Take out your axe, stand to the left/right side of the tree, and chop it. Do the same in the single player version of Don't Starve and you'll notice the difference.
