Yep, this is a thing since a long time, and people don't like this, not a little bit.

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

Changed Status to Fixed

They will still be attackable in PVE, but treated by all players the same way as the owner, where you must force attack and click with mouse, or lowest priority for controller targeting.  Forced auto-attack (i.e. CTRL + F) will no longer target player pets.
