If both boats' planks are extended, you can mount one plank and select another plant to abandon the ship.
Click the abandon ship, the character will run to another boat and perform the abandon action, but won't abandon ship.

Place 2 boats together and extend their planks. Mount one plank and select another one to abandon ship.
