Butterflies get murdered when fed

I tried to feed some butterflies I caught in my inventory with rot. There was the right click to feed icon when I hovered the rot over the butterflies in my inventory, but when I right clicked, all the butterflies get killed instead. Tried again with honey and same thing happened. I even tried to rollback and tried again and got the same outcome. I don't get this problem with light bugs and somehow this problem only happens with butterflies.

Like Quartz said, rot will always kill butterflies, that’s not a bug. Honey killing them is though, unless it was spoiled. I fed butterflies fresh honey a couple days ago and it worked fine, so check to see if you did anything else that would’ve caused it.
