As of the most recent RoT update, it is common for mounted beefalo and their riders to suddenly drown while riding too close to a body of water. Landlocked water seems particularly dangerous but it can happen on coastlines too. I lost a fully-domesticated Ornery on a dedicated server this way, and a friend lost a partially-domesticated beef in a similar manner. I assume this is a consequence of the large mounted beefalo hitbox, and the new rules regarding their interactions with boats, though boats need not necessarily be involved to trigger the drowning.
Steps to Reproduce
1) saddle and ride beefalo 2) ride close to landlocked water 3) drown instantly, without actually crossing into the water
