Steam Overlay Causes Game to Stop Responding

I have had this issue after I finish a game where if I open up the steam overlay in the first after match review menu, that shows your gained exp. and who did what the best such as damage dealt and damage taken, my game stops responding. This hasn't occurred if I scroll through all of the after match menus to the character select screen before opening the steam overlay. (I experienced this while playing on linux, if it matters)
