The [Mostly] Complete Hamlet Beta Food Guide [Spoilers]

Recommended Posts

I'm writing this up for myself and anyone that wants a one stop shop for the food information. I've seen crockpot recipes somewhere, but I haven't seen everything food together in one area, so here goes. Also by all means correct me or tell me to add stuff that I miss, this isn't down to the wire perfection in the first place because I couldn't be bothered to test out some stuff say which filler goes with every crockpot dish [but let's be real, if sticks work are we really going to use another filler?] or spoilage time and I don't know things like priority values since I didn't jump into the code.

Here's all the stand alone new items (I think):

Spoiler
  RAW COOKED   ADDITIONAL
Hunger Health Sanity Hunger Health Sanity
Aloe 10 8 0 12.5 3 0
Asparagus 12.5 3 0 25 3 0
Bean Bugs 9 0 -10 12.5 1 -5
Blooming Tuber 12.5 10 0 18.5 3 5   Tubers bloom in lush season. Safe to eat - no posion.
Gummy Slug 9 0 -10 12.5 1 -5
Lotus 12.5 1 5 12.5 1 15
Nettle 10 10 0 - - -   Cures hayfever and prevents it for 200 seconds
Poison Frogleg 12.5 0 -10 12.5 1 0   Poisons you, raw or cooked.
Radish 12.5 1 0 12.5 3 0
Seed Pod 7.5 1 0 10 3 0
Tuber 12.5 10 0 18.5 3 0   Poisons you, raw or cooked.

Magic Water 450 300 150 - - -   Boss drop, atm only one available, better to plant than eat.

Thanks Magic water has 300+ for the hunger value because I don't know what the actual value is, it full heals wolfgang's hunger and there is no character with a higher value soooo... anyone wanna jump in the code for me so I can remove the question mark?

And then the ten new crockpot recipes currently in the beta (I don't know the actual code recipes, I did my best testing em out):

Spoiler

image.png.62a99a74dd4788ab65aeed94649000ed.png Tea

  • Recipe: 2 orange pikos + 1.0 value sweetener + 1 filler (NO ice - it makes iced tea, sticks do not work, rest untested)
  • Best: 2 orange pikos + 2 honey
  • Hunger: 12.5
  • Health: 3
  • Sanity: 33 (I almost wish they called this item Sani Tea)
  • Spoil Time: 1 Day
  • Priority: 25
  • Additional: I think it has the same effect as dragonpie, but the numbers might not be right, of increasing your perceived temp by 40 for 10 seconds, this currently stacks, drinking too much tea can cause you to take damage from overheating. Tea also increases your movement speed by half of what coffee does. When Tea spoils, it becomes Iced Tea.

image.png.2155b8b4782a8b895603310c4be22434.png Iced Tea

  • Recipe: 2 orange pikos + 1 ice + 1.0 value sweetener
  • Best: 2 orange pikos + 1 ice + 1 honey
  • Hunger: 12.5
  • Health: 3
  • Sanity: 33
  • Spoil Time: 6 Days
  • Priority: 30
  • Additional: Has the opposite effect to the regular tea, decreases perceived temp by 40 for 10 seconds (numbers may be inaccurate), this also stacks currently and drinking too much will cause damage from freezing. Iced Tea also increases your movement speed by one third of what coffee does.

image.png.380c94dc2078ea57938ab01f19974b65.png Asparagus Soup

  • Recipe: 1 asparagus + 0.5 value vegetable + 2 filler (sticks, meat, fruit, and vegetables all worked for this)
  • Best: 1 asparagus + 2 Sticks + 1 of literally any vegetable
  • Hunger: 19
  • Health: 20
  • Sanity: 5
  • Spoil Time: 15 Days
  • Priority: 10

image.png.47804f5cd4becb8530229e8b45fef7ab.png Spicy Veg Stinger

  • Recipe: 1 radish OR 1 asparagus + 1 ice + 1.5 value vegetables
  • Best: Unsure, a radish alone heals 25 hunger and 1 health, this is only useful for sanity purposes. From testing, this has higher priority than the above, so 3 asparagus + 1 ice might be the "cheapest" or "best" recipe for survival early on as asparagus grows all over the place.
  • Hunger: 25
  • Health: 3
  • Sanity: 33
  • Spoil Time: 15 Days
  • Priority: 15

image.png.28d06473caac02ed13e618adef8730dd.png Nettle Rolls

  • Recipe:  3 nettle + 1 filler (sticks work, rest untested)
  • Best: 3 nettle + 1 stick
  • Hunger: 25
  • Health: 20
  • Sanity: 5
  • Spoil Time: 6 Days
  • Priority: 0
  • Additional: Delays hay fever for 720 seconds.

image.png.8d9e866a21a3578d2ac13e3ee7e30287.png Snake Bone Soup

  • Recipe: 2 snake bones + 2.0 value meat (monster meat works here, has higher priority than lasagna)
  • Best: 2 snake bones + 2 monster meat
  • Hunger: 25
  • Health: 40
  • Sanity: 10
  • Spoil Time: 10 Days
  • Priority: 20
  • Additional: Snake bones drop from the Pugalisk boss, he seemingly drops 40-44.

image.png.759ea2a173c6f23e015b297d91e8f6d3.png Hard Shell Tacos

  • Recipe:  2 weevole carapace + 0.5 value vegetable + 1 filler (sticks work, rest untested)
  • Best: 2 weevole carapace + 1 of literally any vegetable (highly recommend mushrooms or carrots, save radish's for 25 hunger in early game) + 1 stick
  • Hunger: 38
  • Health: 20
  • Sanity: 5
  • Spoil Time: 15 Days
  • Priority: 1
  • Additional: For newer players / early game it is super easy to set up a weevole farm. Currently tall grass doesn't need to be fertilized when replanted and you only need a small grouping to spawn weevoles. Just make sure its not too close to your base so they bother you all the time.

image.png.5f61090da0ba0ae72486dede56ac83aa.png Steamed Ham Sandwich

  • Recipe: 1 foliage + 1.0 value meat (NO monster meat) + 1.0 value vegetables (NO asparagus, it always makes asparagus soup) + 1 filler (sticks work, rest untested)
  • Best: This recipe is such a pain, but I guess 1 foliage + 1 meat + 1 stick + 1 carrot or some other common 1.0 value farm vegetable.
  • Hunger: 37.5
  • Health: 40
  • Sanity: 15
  • Spoil Time: 6 Days
  • Priority: 5

image.png.c8b538b5ebeff8be01a8fa32c9f139ab.png Feijoada

  • Recipe: 3 bean bugs + 0.5 value meat
  • Best: 3 bean bugs + 1 morsel
  • Hunger: 75
  • Health: 20
  • Sanity: 15
  • Spoil Time: 8 Days
  • Priority: 30

image.png.9cfc455f6d879667c52d65c99371febe.png Gummy Cake

  • Recipe: 1 gummy slug + 1.0 value sweetener + 2 filler (sticks, fruit, vegetables, carapaces, NO meat)
  • Best: 1 gummy slug + 1 honey + 2 sticks
  • Hunger: 150
  • Health: - 3
  • Sanity: - 5
  • Spoil Time: 20 Days
  • Priority: 1

And an additional five unused (to my knowledge) food images in the code (courtesy @watermelen671, for the above images as well):

Thanks @FuffledBeeQueen for the names.

If you are a newer player and don't know how food values work or what priorities are, I suggest reading this page from the Don't Starve wiki:

I heard tea (iced and hot) increases your movement speed? And Tea turns into Iced tea when fully spoiled?

Tea = Coffee Speed Boost/2
Iced Tea = Coffee Speed Boost/3
Yes. Tea turns into Iced Tea upon spoilage

Nettle roll can be made with even monster meat, but I dare not tried asparagus 'the absolute'....

Nettle Roll has a priority of 0, while Asparagus Soup has a priority of 10. So Asparagus would kill your Nettles immidiently :)

I believe it's 450 hunger.

Thanks for the replies and info, I've updated the initial post. I forgot the speed boost from tea when I wrote the original post, thanks for the reminder. I don't think it's necessary for me to bother with adding any priority information to this set but I guess I would if someone gave me the priorities for all 10 recipes and same goes for spoilage time.

The tea turning into iced tea when it spoils has got to be a bug.

Eh... I mean I can accept it if it really is, but I guess this is one of those things that just doesn't make sense logically. A real tea couldn't cool past room temp and magically have ice form plus also then whats the point of there being a separate recipe?

It's specifically set to spoil into icetea in the code. So it's at the very least, not a bug.

thanks for the helpful meals info, everyone  :)

i've used cooked seed pods to cure hay fever plenty of times, not sure of the timer though or if uncooked works as well.

Oh I didn't realize those worked. Interesting. I've gone ahead and looked into it, and here's what I found.

From lowest to highest:

Uncooked Seed Pod (Value of "60")
Cooked Seed Pod (Value of "120")
Nettle (Value of "200")
Nettle Rolls (Value of "720")

New + helpful information is always such a tasty find for me. I also didn't know seed pods work for that. I do wish there was a super compiled list of tips to help the newer players on here but also to help me when the game goes live and I inevitably forget some of the useful tips scattered throughout the forum. Maybe I'll make one if I have time.

Thanks again Fuffled and Zeklo I'll add those up to the top post.
