Whimsi's Weird Artwork & Headcanons!

HELLO, FELLOW STARVERS!!! :>

I'm new to these here fine forums, and! Lost and confused!!! But I figured I'd just jump in headfirst anyway. X3 I am somewhat less new to creating Don't Starve fanworks; you can find my previous misadventures on DeviantArt  and my (bizarre) Willowson fanfiction on AO3! All my art is traditional, and all my photos are taken with my phone and terrible. You have been warned.

Most of my Don't Starve fanworks revolve around my personal (WEIRD) headcanons & fanfiction, 'Fight, Flight, and Fire's Light', so if you're interested or actively reading it, BEWARE OF SPOILERS!!! If you're not planning on reading it, that's probably a good life choice, but expect to be very confused. Feel free to ask me questions!! I will happily talk about these things forever, as you may have already guessed.

I have a LOT of art, but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed just finding my way around here so let's just. Start with a few simple things. Like introductions!

^ My persona, Don't Starve edition: WhimsiKitty! This is what the cool kids do these days, right?? Colored pencil, drawn,,, sometime last spring I think? ;d

^ Little watercolor abstract-style concept thing from (again) last spring! Wilson in a gemstone. Welcome to my imagination!

and finally, Dragon!Wilson and Modern!Willow: the basis of my fanfiction! Watercolor and Ink. Also from last spring, but it's still one of my favorites! X3 I promise my style has improved since. Not that this... is this my regular style. (Presuming I have one!)

Nah, it kinda blends in, it isn't v noticable, :> and as far as I'm concerned, if you see something new each time you look at it, I must have done something right!

It's actually his shirt! X3 He took it off so his wings wouldn't wreck it.

1. Sounds like me.
2. I like the film noir/expressionism feeling in her outfit and eyes. Gives the 1920s theme of the game pretty well, just like Cats Don't Dance.
3. I'm guessing Wilson got melted into a gem and will break free in a 1000 years to find out the world changed?
4. I didn't realize that was Wilson until you explained. It's understandable, especially in the shipwrecked trailer where his hair is completely down.

Leave Carter alone! It was just a poor and naive soul who was a bit cynical and arrogant.Yes, I love William because he reminds me of me, especially his youthful appearance. Yes,this loser is to blame for the events and story, but they think that all people want to become famous and rich, so William is not quite the main villain and not a sick bastard, but only a simple pawn "Them."

And about the thread:I only draw on paper, so the quality is unlikely to change, but the technique The image will be coaching. There may be errors, because the translator may not translate correctly.

AMR  (chapter four, the best one) & DS crossover! Inspired by @NightWonder7's awesome crossover comic! X3 This is only about a week old. Watercolor, ink, glitter glue and a li'l colored pencil :> I know it's pretty convoluted/symbolic, so don't be afraid to ask questions! All feedback is encouraged!

Hellooo, starvers! Trying to work out how to balance the posting of old doodles w/  new stuff :> I'll be caught up one of these days, and then I'll be complaining about how I have nothing to post, ha!

Have two relatively new (about a month old) Pieces!

^ Watercolor and ink, experimenting w/ pose and somewhat more realistic fire than I usually draw...

^ Also watercolor and ink, and a touch of pencil! I do so love my metallic watercolors, but it just doesn't photograph well. ;-;

THIS here is the birth of my fanfiction. One goofy, trashy ship sketch, and now a year later this here headcanon has taken over my life ;v; Pretty sure /most/ of my DS fanart is related to Dragon!Wilson somehow! \o/

1. With that, you'd think Willow took firebaths in the orphanage oven. The fire effects reminds me of 70s anime.
2. You really used the metallic pencils to your advantage. The reflection gives off a crystalization effect that a digital program would have a hard time emulating.

It was meant to look like gold, not a gem--the angles and shine were meant to make it look harder and colder, to contrast with Willow's softer warmth and light, and (ideally) make it clearer symbolically that her hea(r)t was melting his hard exterior. *shrugs* I /did/ warn everyone that this art thread would be weird!

8. Nope, that was just my style at the time! Wilson's eyes in particular took a long time and much practice to meet my satisfaction.

I really love how inventive your designs were, going outside the Standard Western Dragon stereotypes and giving Dragon!Winona extra arms, and Dragon!Wilson A BEARD,

Oh gosh, thank you! It's really quite fun to start changing aspects of dragons. In a way, my personal definition of a dragon is remarkably broad and more... shall I say... chimeric? in nature. I just. Mix and match various characteristics from nature and animals. All they need is.... some kind of serpentine body and usually some wings.

Oh! That never occurred to me. There is no concern. I hardly thought I'd be the first or last to think of dragon survivors! I'm always glad to see more, to be honest.

Hello hello and happy October, people! Have some vaguely spooky art! I do enjoy creepy art, I ought to draw something actually scary someday...

This is another glorified color test, haha! From last August, how time does fly! Ink & pencil. Hard to make a scene representing pitch darkness while making anything identifiable...

The sketch version of my next piece! I think adding color kinda made it disappear. Ink & pencil again, also from August. The concept was entirely based after Wilson's quote when Charlie gets him: "OW! Something bit me!"

--plus my own speculations as to how a 'bite' could cause such a sanity and health drain in-game! It's like a vampire attack, but she's sucking his soul out instead. Added marker and glitter!

/after/ I'd gotten too far in this piece to change my direction, I saw the actual animation of what Charlie's attack looks like. So here's a fresher interpretation--about two weeks ago!

Mostly pencils, but a touch of ink.

Of course, staring at the animation again later, I'd come to realize that what I thought was a burst of black fire coming out of Wilson's mouth is actually her hand. *shudders* I might sketch that up at some point, kudos to Klei for creating such a delightfully creepy monster attack--one that we hardly even get to see!

And for my last nearly-but-not-quite-eerie piece!

Mostly pen w/ a bit of colored pencil, from last May. A concept I came up with among friends -- 'Anti-flower, vampire, insane, and also on fire Wilson'. Oh, and I threw my dragonish stuff in there too. It almost made sense in-context!

^ More concept, taking place immediately after the last (My, how his facial hair grows!--and why did he switch the direction Willow faced? Hmmmmmm) and a few months later irl. Just pencil :>

Wonky idea for a wonderland crossover from approximately a year ago -I redid it and completed it last May! Carrot-sword is an obscure reference to my fic...

Um? Not sure when this is from, but it's probably a year or so old. I do like the hanahaki disease, but--Wilson? Really?

Concept for the fic, who'd have guessed? ;P From last February. Lookit his youthful squishy face! 

Fusion character - Wilson & my character Terrance (a villain) from a roleplay w/ a friend (Bunni)! Mostly an inside joke, haha - Hence, why it never got posted. From last May.

Dragon!Wilson and my own dragon OC, Rumble! Also an inside joke...

...When did Wilson  (left) become the butt of all my jokes... (goes w/out explaining why this never got posted anywhere!)

Oh, hey, something less terrible! From last August. Dragon on the left is my OC, Vanessa - she holds a position of power among my /other/ half-dragon peeps; Wilson (who can be a significantly larger dragon) is taken aback.

Just practicing watercolor techniques, trying out my watercolor pencils. From last February. The second one down is dragon!Wilson. Three of these are characters from other things, one is my own - an imaginary gold star sticker to the person who can guess which character is my OC, and ONE FREE DRAWING REQUEST (no nsfw or anything nasty) for the person who can name all four correctly!!! One guess per person only ;>

On a different topic, I'm beginning to look for more beta readers for my fanfic! Not for grammar so much as someone to bounce ideas off of, really. I just can't seem to write w/out someone to discuss things with in-depth, and my current main beta and I have complications. So let me know if you're interested! (But my fanfiction is...weird, so be aware of the trouble you're getting yourself into and read the thing first!)
