Can a freezer or a fridge work instead? I don't really seem to have a cryochamber with me at the time.

So Klei said that "they're going to do a beta in traditional don't starve fashion". I'm not really sure what this means but if they're going to launch early access like they did with shipwrecked then we should expect Hamlet in September.

Ofc these are just my speculations

This DLC gonna be phenomenal! Can't even doubt that! With every new trailer my waiting limit increasing higher than 200%, until moment when this gonna get look to the world - I'm gonna definitely explode with a biiig cheer!

Thanks Klei, for such amazing job! I believe, just word "thanks" isn't enough for you, but a lot of humans playing your games, and me it that list!:wilson_vforvictory:

First Post!! This looks awesome!!!! Just found out. For STEAM. if you don't have Don't starve yet but already have DST buying them from Don't starve MEGA PACK is cheaper than the Don't starve Alone Bundle :D

The following is my speculation of the gameplay/mechanics of Hamlet - such as tools, mobs, areas of exploration, etc. - as well as possible avenues of Lore or things of that nature. This is more for documentation of stuff that has been previewed than anything and while some stuff may seem simple, I didn't notice/thought about them until closer examination.

Spoilers are placed in for looks and for those who want to figure out the mechanics on their own at launch or prior to it.

Please excuse my potato snapshots :p. I will maybe update the pictures and content if I see new stuff and have some time to spare.

Exploration Speculation

Spoiler

I'm assuming based on the intro of the game play video, you crash land onto the Hamlet "universe" and the ultimate end-game goal is to get the golden pig statue, which I will refer to as "The Golden Pig".

Somehow, it leads to you the player to exploring the dangerous unknown in search of The Golden Pig, which I'll break down into two sections; harvesting areas and the pig ruins.

Harvesting Areas

Based on the turf and its features, we have a grassland-like area, savanna-like area, deep forest-like area, and swamp-like area. The first for basic resources, the second for lots of grass I guess, the third for an area I can't think of, and the swamp for reeds and such.

h12.thumb.PNG.c3d2ad317427f9dfd5c27582948479a7.PNG

Pig Ruins

As you go deeper into the ruins, it gets darker and you start to trigger booby traps. If you reach the bottom, there may be gold as a reward, and if you're lucky, maybe The Golden Pig.

Then there is the defining feature of this DLC, the pig village, which I will dub Hamlet.

Hamlet

Fancy pig village where you can your gold for stuff.

Noticed that there was poop on the ground too. Pigs will be pigs. :p

Store/Coin Mechanics

Spoiler

There seems to be a few stores and two types of coins, a round coin and a "clover" coin, for lack of a better shape description.

For the stores, I've seen a food, flower, and shovel store.

ha8.thumb.PNG.35be820e9af88387ce7947bc91fb6f14.PNG

Let's start with what I think is the more interesting one, the food store, symbolized with the ham symbol on the bottom.

From this picture, we see stuff for sale, with the assumption that clover coins are more valuable and rarer than round coins based on the items current in-game values.

Monster Lasagna   - 2 Round Coins
Stuffed Eggplant    - 4 Round Coins
Honey Nuggets      - 5 Round Coins
Meatballs               - 1 Clover Coin
Perogies                - 1 Clover Coin
Honey Ham           - 1 Clover Coin, 2 Round Coins

From the steam page of Hamlet, the coins value for in-game items are the following.

Monster Lasagna   - 2 Round Coins
Pumpkin Cookies   - 3 Round Coins
Stuffed Eggplant    - 4 Round Coins
Froggle Bunwich    - 5 Round Coins
Meatballs               - 1 Clover Coin
Dragon Pie             - 1 Clover Coin, 3 Round Coins
Turkey Dinner        - 2 Clover Coins

Based on these two photos, the price of the items seem constant, but the items themselves may rotate between each day.

There also seems to be content in the fridge, such as eggs and frog legs, as well as what is presumably garlic and other such ingredients hanging from the ceiling. As to whether they can be bought is unknown.

There is also a new machine in the far right embedded in the wall. Possibly a lottery machine? Or maybe just an aesthetic.

Now for what I think is interesting, the teller. Or rather, the scale right behind her. Maybe when you're out exploring, mobs that you kill can drop food items, which you can sell to build up your in-game currency as you try to progress your way deeper into the ruins. Giant "Hippopotamoose"  (as dubbed by SavageLemon) anyone?

As for the flower store, there seems to be quite a few variants of flowers. Maybe you can pick and sell them in the flower shop for something? More in the item section.

As for the shovel shop, it may be a tool shop where you can buy your tools, new and old ones. More in the tools section.

Mobs

Spoiler

The mobs seems to be somewhat biome specific.

Scorpions

Look at this smile.

"Hippopotamoose"

Jumping animation as an attack, which causes waves to ripple. Assuming his snort is a sign that you've drawn agro and that if he jumps on you, it'll hurt.

Bats 2.0 and Big Firefly

Nobody likes bats (at least I don't). These guys seem bigger, faster, more numerous, and maybe tougher than their batilisk counterparts.

There's also a big old firefly roaming around casually.

Lore Stuff

Spoiler

The best I could come up with is that there is a ruins for the giant snake, evident by the snake statue.

Same for pig ruins. Ancient pig festivities maybe?

Mayor of Pig Village

The original design for Don't Starve was Mayor of Pig Village, whose design process sounds somewhat similar to the concept of Hamlet. Thought it'd be interesting to watch.

Thanks for the link. I haven't seen that concept art of the dancing pigman. Shame the Dupes in Oxygen note Included beat the pigs to complex dancing moves.:wilson_ecstatic:

What are your thoughts on those scarlet Pimpernel pigs, Iakhnish?

I'm assuming this means the civilized pigs. My thoughts are that I'm interested in the classifications of these pigs. I'm assuming there are different roles: Thief Pig, NPC Pig, Knight Pig, Shop Pig, etc. and I look forward to seeing how different my interactions with them can be and how fun it will be.

At this point there probably won't be any new info untill Hamlet finally drops. That's Klei's way

Oh i know, but dang look at that mouth tho!

I guess they really want to make sure that Hamlet is fully finished, not even Early access for it. A full on DLC that Klei wants to make sure we get a truly fun experience more than ever before. The full experience.

The wait is really killing me though.

Yeah but we all know that it'll take like 3 days for someone to find a bug that Klei overlooked.

Or that dlc lacks something and Klei should make some updates for it.
