Half the batteries will be connected to the generator and nothing else while the other half will be powering w/e.  Tie two side by side outputs together you have 100% power out that goes in without passing the load to the generator directly(doesn't count as line load) I 'm running normal wire in and conductive out to see if I can run an aquatuner with this setup :)

I understand that in many ways this does what transformers do but in many ways it goes a step further by cutting the load off from the gene completely, both only ever see batteries

Pretty neat. Theoretically it's better than a transformer. Batteries seem less constrained, (they can source more than 1kJ at a time for example). Also as a bonus, if the generators only ever see batteries, then they should be able to be hooked up with just regular crap wires I think

Another possible advantage of disconnecting the load from the batteries when you're charging them is that you can time a battery level/charger more precisely to get a stack of batteries fully charged.  As it is, with the load on the batteries as you charge them, that makes it harder to properly time how long you want the generators running to charge your main batteries as the load tends to vary on any given network.

So, taking this idea while still using transformers, you could have two separate stacks of main batteries.  One set would be getting charged while the other stack feeds power to the load of the colony.  Once the first stack is dead, you switch to the second stack and charge the first stack.  Since there's no load on the charging stack, you can time precisely how long to run the generators to fully charge, but no more, the stack.

I might try to see if I can pull something like this off in my current base.

Thanks for the trick, works really well. Running a tepidizer on it, haft the batteries are usable by the tepidizer and and it will only consume when batteries are not in charging mode. Made it in this mini 1 dupe "sustainable" base I was currently working on.  Features a "low-tech" oxygen morb tower/slime farm/coal farm, and a battery sensor to turn off coal generator.

I like it except if I used it I would feel compelled to kill the germs. Either colder or chlorine

look at the hidden contents pics, 100% of the germs get killed in the middle room of the tower where there is 3 wheezeworths and 7 deoderizers  ;)

I have absolutely no germ problems, that's why I don't have a med bay  ;)

Your base makes me want to see cosmetic backwall buildings in Oxygen Not Included. The tempshift plates kind of remind me of traditional Japanese interiors.

lol that's true, the main purpose is equalizing temp through the base and have wheezeworths act on everything smoothly, and I wasn't sure I liked the busy look of it, but put that way, it does kindda have a style, we should request a tapestry skins feature ;)
