Secondly, my phone was upstairs, so I didn't get the reminder that it was Thursday. Thirdly, I was downstairs, playing intensely on my PS4. I may have missed the stream, but at least I finished Second Son. :3 Also! Git yer arse over to the Ban Thread!! >:
Clonefarmer
Hey, just wanted to start out by saying I think ONI might be my new favorite game. This challenge map was fun and a bit frustrating at times. I managed to get 20 Dupes to 100 cycles. I don't think I could have gone much longer. Besides running out of water the heat and co2 were really starting to build up. Not sure if I can link pics from steam but here is a pic of my attempt at the Tube Colony Challenge. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1260779293
Oozinator
The challenge is nice ^^ Most challenging part was for me, while i explored upwards. I was so happy to get some material rain (2x wheezie and timble), explored a bit further with my plastic ladders (only material i have enough of) and then "sploosh" cooking hot water flooded dupudopia! ^^ Was fun When i could not fix it, base will be cooked .. Mhh i better build two exos for that task ^^ Poor guy frankie. He is complaining hard, but it's the devs fault, when he is toast ^^

Enter in the searchbar(windows) oxygen sav and you should see your save location. For me "Documents\Klei\OxygenNotIncluded\save_files\"

Look at the data "type" (your picture) You copied the url, it seems, not the *.sav file.https://forums.kleientertainment.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=139216 Click on the URL, or make a rightclick on it (save target blah). Here is my save Tube Challenge stable.sav Not much to do now, could make expedition for ruins, but they don't give me materials. Played without debug. trukogre
I was kinda hoping you'd get to the bottom and find all the materials sitting down there pre-mined and waiting.
GrindThisGame
@JanH Are you supposed to stay inside the 9 cubes as part of the challenge or can you venture outside? I'm not finished yet but here are some images from cycle 151 (10 dupes). I did break out of the starting cubes to explore and help manage heat. I might try the challenge again and stay inside the cubes. I wasn't sure if the rules allowed it Main Living Area + Oxygen Generation Room: Core Base Area: Thermal Overlay: Spoiler Liquid Pipes Overlay: Spoiler Gas Pipes Overlay: Spoiler Decor Overlay: Spoiler

I tried lots of hydro fans, but they can barely keep the temps down. This challenge gave me a new appreciation for weezeworts. Also I think a version of this map with heavy watt wire running in between the cubes would be interesting to try.
Saturnus
Here's my result. Took a lot of planning to do. And testing a lot of set ups in debug before using them. After the overview picture there's a ton of pics with the different overlays in spoilers. And then some close ups of the cubes. 16 dupes. 100% stable and maintenance free at this point. It regulates temperature automatically. Shut off showers when geyser water is running low. Gets rid of CO2 by pressure management of oxygen supply. Excess polluted water is deleted by thimble reeds. Not much more to say really. It's a fully sustainable base for 16 dupes in 9 small cubes with all the luxury they could possibly want except maybe from better quality food. I think I did a good job of staying as close to the spirit of the challenge as I wanted to but saw no reason to go overboard and use tubes everywhere. Wiring: Spoiler Liquid piping: Spoiler Gas piping: Spoiler Automation: Spoiler Rooms: Spoiler Gas overlay (note: using the mod): Spoiler Temp overlay: Spoiler Living counters close up Spoiler Fert synth and NGGs cubes Spoiler Geysers taming and hydrogen power Spoiler Dupe bathrooms and utilities Spoiler Storage (pretty much just seeds at this point), hospital and relax-a-tron Spoiler The central cube with oxygen generators Spoiler And finally one of the hallways connecting the top cubes from the middle ones. Would you mind sharing the save file, I'm curious about some of the techniques you use, like doors trick for cooling (I think?). Thanks! I'm afraid that save file got lost. I decided to fire up debug mode and go for 24 dupes instead. So I'll give you that instead. This time I'm not 100% sure you can build it without debug mode but should be close. One thing to remember is to keep track of materials. For example, you only have enough diamond for 30 thermal shift plates of diamond. The rest needs to be dirt which you have plenty of if you get a mealwood farm started early. You also must keep use of insulated tiles/pipes to an absolute minimum or they'll suck up at lot of I think I've probably used too much copper but a lot could be saved, so I'll not completely rule out you can make a 100% maintenance free and fully sustainable base for 24 dupes like this without debug mode. One of the things to go was the door coolers. The used way too much power. Hold on, they don't use power right? Well, they do. You have to use a high heat capacity gas like hydrogen or natural gas for it to work. And if it doesn't need to not run all the time the needed gas flow for it to work builds up even if you use shut off valves so you basically delete a lot of gas for no purpose that could have been used to produce power. I found that for my use the door coolers used about twice as much power as an oil cooler so going from 16 to 24 dupes this amount of wasted power could not be maintained. Anyway, here's the 24 dupe version save file tubes-2.sav And the alt+s screen shot
