s13579
Hi! I cannot select a character on the new game menu. When i click character tab, and try to select one it comes back to the game setup menu and if i start the game it choses a random character. In addition to that, when i want to configure some world settings, a popup shows and says I created too many custom presets and have to overwrite it. Even if I select overwrite option the same popup constantly comes. and I cannot go back to the main menu. I had to force close the game and game crashes. I tried disabling mods and verify integrity of game files. It does not work. Are there anybody having this issue? How can I solve it? I know that I'm not the only one having this problem because I found this link on steam community discussion. https://steamcommunity.com/app/219740/discussions/2/613941122541422146/
JanH
In order to look into this further, we will need more information. Could you please provide us with your log.txt file found in your documents folder ( Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve\log.txt) As well, could we get you to take a screenshot of your game's character selection and main menu screens? These should help as we look into this report.
s13579
Here is my log file. And also you can see some screenshots of character selection, world and main menu, but they look normal to me. I hope they helps you. log.txt
JanH
Looking at your log, it looks like the game is trying to find missing file "tree_leaf_fx_green". Before doing anything else, you may want to back up your game save elsewhere - your save files will be located under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{unique ID}\{219740}\remote\ Once save files have been backed up, can we get you to uninstall the game, then ensure that all of the local content created for Don't Starve is deleted from from both your Steam folders and your Documents folders. Once that has been done, run steam as an administrator, then re-install Don't Starve once more. Should the issue persist, please send us your latest log file. JanH
1) Can we get you to disable Steam Cloud synchronization for Don't Starve: Right-Click on Don't Starve in your Steam Games Library and choose "Properties"; In the "Properties" window, click on the "Updates" tab; at the bottom you'll find an option for Steam Cloud. Uncheck "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Don't Starve" and click on the "Close" button. 2) Next, please ensure that all mod files have been deleted completely from your MODS folder for Don't Starve on Steam . You can do that by going into your Steam folders for Don't Starve and fully delete the contents of your game's "Mods" folder. (Steam\steamapps\common\dont_starve\mods) After deleting these mod files, go to the Steam Workshop for Don't Starve and unsubscribe ALL of your mods. 3) From there, verify the integrity of Don't Starve's game files once more to see if these steps above resolved the issue. Please note: When disabling Steam Cloud ,your save game files will be held locally in your hard drive and not on Steam's servers.

JanH
Unfortunately there is something odd going on in your system that is causing this weird issue with your game and we regrettably are out of troubleshooting steps at this time. At this point, your best, next step is to contact Steam Support for a possible refund due to the game not working on your system. s13579
Thank you for your help, I will contact with steam. An extra information, my husband logged in his steam account in my computer and he did not have this problem. Then I logged back in and the problem occured as it was before. So the problem is related to the account, not the computer.
s13579
I've solved my problem for now. After I unchecked "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Don't Starve" I logged in to the game from my husband's computer. There was only Wilson and i could change the world settings without problem. I saved the game. Than I checked the "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Don't Starve" option again. Steam asked if I want to use the cloud save. I said no, and uploded new local file to the server. Then I went back to my computer and downloded the new save file from server. I lost every character I unlocked, but after I've opened the characters again I can play with them (for) now.
