MissCharlie 849 Report post Posted December 14, 2016 Wilson isn't sure how he feels being done on acrylic. Not too shabby since I've only been doing oil and watercolors for the past 12 months. Any acrylic painters out there with tips, tricks or advice?

Not too shabby since I've only been doing oil and watercolors for the past 12 months. Any acrylic painters out there with tips, tricks or advice? i think you should use a brush with smaller size? idk. i usually do that with acrylic and don't mix them with water too much, their color will be at a bad quality when they dry (in my experience they become a bit glossy when dry. if you mix them with water too much, they'll look like those kind of cheap paints for wall). for shading, you should blend the colors when they are still wet, because if they have dried they are not blend-able, their colors are not transparent unlike watercolors. also you can stroke them gently for a less messy color. that's all what i know, i'm not really good at paints too. i only use them for school project. (if you don't understand something i said, ask me)
minespatch 81641 Report post Posted December 14, 2016 So far Wilson's face came out great but maybe you should start with lighter colors before adding darker ones? I like what you did with the shadows, but I think I can see where your concern is coming from.

minespatch 81641 Report post Posted December 16, 2016 I should be focusing on the no-eyed deer but I'm just stunned by that beautiful background. Though I love how the bold yet gentle colors from the deer make him stand out.

He certainly doesnt like sheep though lol. Broodling is probably his favorite I think?
