hyiltiz
It seems Canes dont float while axe and spear does. Even dubloons float... I am not saying things should float as they do in real life. I just want to know whether there is a list of floatable items, and how it is decided.
stl1234
Code wise, items float if they have the floatable component added to them. This component is new in SW, so unless the object is redefined with SW, items from before SW will sink.
NoQuitting
Put together this list real quick, if it is not on this list there is a 99.999% chance it will sink as of v171841 1 abigail_flower 2 acorn 3 amulet 4 antivenom 5 armor_cactus 6 armor_grass 7 armor_lifejacket 8 armor_limestone 9 armor_marble 10 armor_obsidian 11 armor_ruins 12 armor_sanity 13 armor_seashell 14 armor_slurper 15 armor_snurtleshell 16 armor_windbreaker 17 armor_wood 18 axe 19 axe_pickaxe 20 backpack 21 balloons_empty 22 bandage 23 batbat 24 beardhair 25 bearger_fur 26 bedroll_furry 27 bedroll_straw 28 beefalowool 29 bioluminescence 30 birdtrap 31 blowdart 32 blubber 33 blubbersuit 34 blueprint 35 boards 36 boatcannon 37 boatlantern 38 boatrepairkit 39 boattorch 40 boneshard 41 books 42 boomerang 43 bottlelantern 44 bugnet 45 butter 46 butterflywings 47 cactus 48 cane 49 cannonshot 50 charcoal 51 coconade 52 coconut 53 compass 54 coontail 55 coral 56 coral_brain 57 cutgrass 58 cutlass 59 cutlichen 60 cutreeds 61 deerclops_eyeball 62 diviningrod 63 doydoyfeather 64 dragon_scales 65 dragoonheart 66 dubloon 67 earring 68 eel 69 egg 70 fabric 71 featherfan 72 feathers 73 fertilizer 74 fish 75 fish_med 76 fishingrod 77 foliage 78 froglegs 79 gears 80 gem 81 glommerbell 82 goatmilk 83 goose_feather 84 guano 85 hambat 86 hammer 87 harpoon 88 hats 89 hawaiianshirt 90 healingsalve 91 heatrock 92 honey 93 honeycomb 94 horn 95 houndstooth 96 inv_bamboo 97 inv_rocks_ice 98 inv_vine 99 jellyfish 100 krampus_sack 101 lighter 102 lightninggoathorn 103 limpets 104 livinglog 105 log 106 lucy 107 lureplant_bulb 108 machete 109 magic_seal 110 mandrake 111 manrabbit_tail 112 meats 113 messagebottle 114 mininglantern 115 minotaurhorn 116 monkeyball 117 mosquitosack 118 mushrooms 119 mussel_stick 120 mysterymeat 121 nightmarefuel 122 nightstick 123 nightsword 124 obsidian 125 ox_flute 126 ox_horn 127 packim_fishbone 128 palmleaf 129 panflute 130 papyrus 131 petals 132 petals_evil 133 pickaxe 134 piggyback 135 pigskin 136 pinecone 137 piratepack 138 pitchfork 139 plantables 140 poop 141 portablecookpot 142 preparedfoods 143 rawling 144 razor 145 redbarrel 146 reflectivevest 147 rope 148 sail 149 sail_stick 150 seasack 151 seashell 152 seaweed 153 seaweed_planted 154 seeds 155 sewingkit 156 shark_fin 157 shark_gills 158 shovel 159 silk 160 slurperpelt 161 slurtleslime 162 snakeoil 163 snakeskin 164 snakeskin_jacket 165 spear 166 spear_wathgrithr 167 speargun 168 spearlauncher 169 spicepack 170 spidereggsack 171 spidergland 172 staff 173 staff_tornado 174 stinger 175 sweatervest 176 tallbirdegg 177 teleportato_sw_parts 178 telescope 179 tentaclespots 180 thatchpack 181 tigereye 182 transistor 183 trap 184 treasurechest 185 trident 186 trinkets 187 trunk 188 trunkvest 189 tunacan 190 turbine_blades 191 turfs 192 twigs 193 umbrella 194 veggies 195 venomgland 196 walls 197 walrus_tusk 198 warly 199 waxwelljournal 200 wilbur_unlock 201 wind_conch 202 woodlegs_boatcannon 203 woodlegs_key 204 wormlight
hyiltiz
I saw in your list items such as twigs, silk, rope and backpack. I did see these items float. So, does it take a while before an item actually sinks into the ocean, instead of simply sinking upon touching the surface?
stl1234
No, as far as I can see, items either sink or float. There is no such thing as floating for a while. The list is for floating items, not sinking ones.
Mobbstar
It should be relatively easy to make a mod that forces every inventory item to float. The force-floating items would not have a float animation though (no ripples) and items meant to sick would have to be specifically excluded. Okay I put together a list of items that DO NOT float... (well 99% chance it will not float, chesters eyebone sinks and then magically spawns in the water on top of you for example) 22 hours ago, Sheauwn said: It floats if it weighs lighter than a duck. I will need to do further testing to find out if boats float. It may be that they are hovering 1 centimeter above the water. Or that they have giant peg feet underneath walking on the bottom of the ocean. Start your favorite savegame and hit the ~ key on your keyboard type c_give("deadlyfeast") and then press ctrl+L to get rid of the annoying text then enjoy the most delicious meal you ever tasted. hyiltiz
Well, tried deadlyfeast. Pity it has the same fx icon as meaty stew.
oCrapaCreeper
Deadly Feast was something scrapped from adventure mode. I think it was meant to be something you'd eat to kill yourself if you chose not to free Maxwell. It's been in the game since.
