Wave after Wave

The Root's ray of fire knocked almost all of The Thing's That Kill off of it's side, most of their roasted bodies falling into bloody pieces. A few managed to survive, however, by cutting holes into The Root and hiding inside. They come out severely damaged, yet still functioning, and went right back to attacking. Even the ones that fell off began crawling towards The Root wielding weapons with their remaining claws, on both hands and feet, or even in their mouth's. Even the severed limbs slinked towards the beast as if they had minds of their own. Their goal was to kill this abomination, and they'd do it if it took them a thousand years. In the mean time, Gyx's Creation slid between Kate and The Root, and screamed as it shot fire towards the beast's head.

Silven looked at the Markless even more giant Tursai, they did not respond? He inspected the Markless even more giant Tursai and found a wound, or maybe it wasn't. He didn't have time to inspect the other in a way that he knew what they looked like out of the Glowy Water. "Would you need assistance in proceeding to the place with which they can fix you?" he questioned as he walked closer to the area that was different.

Kate awoke as she was suddenly lifted out of bed. She made some groggily unintelligible confused noises, unable to tell what was going on.
"Kate-" It was the voice of her mother.
"Mom?" She picked up muffled slamming and yelling in the background.
"Kate, sh." Her mother's voice was hushed, stern, and fearful. It made her worried and even more confused. She heard a door opening, and she was quickly sat down inside a closet. Her mother looked her in the eyes.
"Don't make a sound and don't come out, no matter what happens."
There was another particularly loud set of thuds, causing the mother to quickly look to the back at something and attempt to close the closet. However, in her rush she hadn't made sure close the door all the way, and there was still a crack Kate could easily see through.
Immediately after, the door to the bedroom slammed open. In the pale moonlight pouring through the window Kate could just barely make out an unfamiliar figure. He shouted something she didn't quite understand as he started making his way further into the room, but he was quickly followed in by Kate's father, who grabbed the intruder and started shouting back. The next thing she knew there was a flash, a defining bang, a heavy thud, a pause.
Her mother started shrieking, but it was quickly cut short by another gunshot, and her body joined the father's on the floor.
Kate was frozen, unbreathing, brain wracking trying to process the events unfolded before her. The intruder didn't move for a long moment, but seemed to shake it off and started riffling through her families belongings. As everything finally started setting in, her breathing quickened, whimpers and panicked gasps escaping her mouth. The intruder must of heard, as he froze and turned to face her. She could swear he was staring right at her through the crack. He started coming towards her, closer, and closer. His hand reached out for the door-

Kate suddenly let out a scream wracked with agony. She thrust her arms forward, and a beam of fire four times her size shot out towards the sea beast's face, unfortunately for the monster that had positioned itself between them.

Yet, all I got was Otto failing to realized he was being digested slowly as he made no progress. Speaking of which...)

Otto was making no progress. Or atleast it seemed that way.

"(Huff) I feel tired" Otto said, sitting down (more like slouching). Now the acid came up to his waist. "I need a moment".

Suddenly, Otto feels something wrap around his ankle.  Seconds later, it drags him under the surface of the gloopy liquid, filling his eyes and ears with the revolting sludge.

Simultaneously, the Root fires a similar, yet far larger beam at Kate.  The crackling ray collides with her own blast of flame, deflecting both projectiles into Maki.  It punches a hole clear through his body, skewering him on a ray of light.  The shredded remnants of his body fly away from the beam in a shower of skin and bones.

Suddenly, Niella's eyes flash open, wide with panic.  She starts gasping and hyperventilating, squirming and writhing in pain.  "What's happening?!?!  What happened to me?!?"  She wails, clawing at the sand in an attempt to pull herself off the island.  In doing so, an enormous CRACK is heard, and the ground around her starts to split apart.

"I have no explanation to what has happened, you seem to have part of yourself missing though I didn't get a good look at you before exploring the room," He continues to the area that was different, hovering whenever a shift in the terrain came about. He got to it and inspected the area, not noticing the scene around him or the fact that the Markless even more giant Tursai was moving erratically. "Yes, I don't think that this is natural. Perhaps it would be fine on it's own but I would rather try to do something now before we can get you to an area to fix you up," with that he looked at the terrain, noticing the cracks forming. "That doesn't seem natural either, perhaps this is what caused it?"

"No, Silven!  Get away from me!!!"  Niella screams, continuing to tear at the island.  Her choking gasps and screams start pulling water into her primary jaws, forming a violent and rapid whirlpool.  The sandstone of the ring, weak from years of the Tree growing through it, starts to finally crumble under the relentless attack, huge pieces of stone breaking away and being dragged into the current.  Upon seeing this, the Root's mouth twists into a sadistic grin.  Out of the sea rise a large number of pyrosomes, all of various sizes and shapes.  They start snapping at the crew, driving them closer and closer to the collapsing earth.

Otto cracked his eyes open a little and caught a glimpse of the creature dragging him down. He twisted and bent, grabbing part of whatever it was and pulled it closer him. Then suddenly, he bit down as hard as he could, sinking his sharp teeth into it's flesh.

(And otters actually have sharp teeth. I looked it up)

Silven looked at the Markless even more giant Tursai but did what she said as he took to the sky. Perhaps he could get a better look from up here! "There seems to be odd movement in the Glowy Water," he noted before going back to looking at the missing part from a distance as the Markless even more giant Tursai told him to do.

Famen was hiding from The Root at the time when he thought of a plan to defeat it. He ran into the water and searched around the wreckage of the Friend Ship to retrieve the Crank Thing. He found it laying on a piece of driftwood, so he took it and rushed over to Jaw. "Jaw, I have a plan. You need to get eaten by that giant thing, find Otto, then use this crank to enlarge yourself inside of the monster and do all the damage you can to kill it. Do you understand?" Famen said, forcing the crank into Jaw's hands.

Oh right, Angelle, she's hanging around Gyx.

Fire was everywhere. She couldn't see anything else. It was so bright; her eyes hurt. Kate crawled out of the closet, trying to escape the suffocating heat. The floor in front of the closet was covered in hard, sticky objects that she didn't care enough to identify.
"Mom-" she croaked out, reaching for where her mother lay.
Her hand met something soft, sticky, and very hot, and she recoiled. The fire wasn't as intrusive to her vision in the wider room, and now she could see what was becoming of her parents. Their skin... their flesh... it was melting. She wretched. She forced her self to turn away as her stomach convulsed. She couldn't look. She couldn't see that again.

She gasped after her stomach finally emptied, but she didn't feel like she was getting any air. Smoke stung her eyes and nostrils. She had to get out. She couldn't breathe. She had to get out and away from this. Far away.
Standing up on weak, trembling legs, she forced herself to move forward, stumbling through the house in a blind daze.

Kate entered a coughing fit, despite the lacking smoke, and the blaze surrounding her swelled. She stumbled forward without awareness of her surroundings, but Kade grabbed her arm and guided her away from the snapping pyrosomes.

The Thing seems to be a somewhat ineffective weapon, besides one pyrosome's head suddenly poofing down to the size of a shrimp.  The rest of the monsters are completely unaffected, though, and quickly swarm over Famen in their wild rush to reach Jaw.

The Root stares at Jaw for a few moments, transfixed by his colorful dance.  It then plunges down towards him, jaws wide open, before its mouth smashes down onto the sand around him. Its head lifts back up into the air, another large chunk of the island going with it.

The tentacle squirms out of Otto's grasp, vanishing back into the murk.

Famen's knife gets stuck in the pyrosome's side, and he gets dragged along with it.

"Waa-oof!" The island of debris collapsed after getting hit by Jaw. Luckily the acid wasn't that deep. After Otto recollected himself, he recognized the figure straight away.

"Hey! Shark person!" (or whatever Otto called him way back XD) "What's the meaning of this? (Gasp) are you here to help me with my plan?"
