Wave after Wave

Niella's about to reply when something bumps into the ship, violently shaking the entire vessel.  It drags across the bottom of the hull with a painful scraping sound, before the ship finally makes it over.  Something blackened and charred-looking floats up behind the boat before getting swept away by the waves.  The flashes of light are getting closer.

Nadas makes sure Noccy doesn't fall off her arms while at the same time trying to keep herself on foot as the ship scrapes something underneath. She tugs at the blanket and then steps outside the cabin to look around. "What's happening?"

[oh boy we've come full circle, happy 360 pages everyone]

Noccy shivers rapidly, despite it not being all that cold. The large clash made by the mysterious water thing seemed much much larger to him, and it was utterly terrifying.

Timmi does the same. He almost falls off of Wiffleball [if he's still on i dont know sorry], only barely avoiding boo boos by clamping onto Ma's ear with his mouth.

Kate had come up above deck soon after the lizard lady likewise to see what was going on, and put both hands over her mouth and nose, making a face and a sound of disgust. She could make out the black shapes floating in the water from where she was, but not enough to tell what they were.

Dragon poked her head over the side of the boat again. This food looked and smelled like it had gone too long without being eaten.

Famen fell face first onto the deck when the ship started shaking. Ow. He scrambled up to his feet and opened up the door to the cabin. "Guys! In here, before we all fall overbo~" Trevor fall overboard. Figures. Famen ran over to the side of the ship. "Trevor, grab the rope that's hanging off of the ship!" Famen said, trying to move the rope in Trevor's direction.

Angelle was already in the cabin, chewing on her toy bone.

"aaaaaaaAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Trevor screamed. He didn't like sharing an ocean with a carnivorous tangle of tubes, especially if they were right below him. The corpses weren't good addition either. He scrambled about, screaming like a lady, and just about managed to grab the rope Famen mentioned.

"Aaaa!" Viridis almost fell off the boat, but saved herself by grabbing the railing with her tail. She sighed in relief, when the smell kicked in. "Pffff... yucky!!" She complained as she covered her mouth and nose with her claws.

Cinis sniffs around. "Ah... the smell brings a hint of nostalgia!"

Wiffleball was jolted forwards as well by the impact, sliding across the hold's floor before coming to a stop halfway across. However, he laid still for about an extra minute due to writer's block, after which he blinked a few times, then pushed himself up from the floor. God, what was that? Another horror from the deep? He dusted himself off, then looked towards the stairwell. Upon noticing the small shadow clamped to his ear, he gently tugged Timmi off, then held him under one arm. He'd be much safer there. Carefully, Wiffleball made his way over to the stairwell and climbed up, joining the others on the deck.

Up above, there was certainly a lot of commotion going on, but Wiffleball wasn't quite sure what it was all about. He caught fragments of sentences above the chaos - something about a bad smell? Whatever that meant. Someone was screaming from beyond the ship, but he couldn't quite tell where the sound was coming from, so he took a guess and ran over to one side of the boat. He looked down, hoping to see whoever had fallen over, but when he saw what the others were talking about... Wiffleball froze. Standing rigidly still, he found himself completely unable to look away, only to just stare at the swirling abyss below the ship.

So many bodies.

The crew can see a strange-looking island in the distance.  It's shaped like a broken ring, made from jagged rocks and completely bare of any greenery.  A blue glow like a spotlight rises out from the middle of the ring.  It's pretty obviously a boss arena, but hey can't fault good design.
