Wave after Wave

Wiffleball watched Jaw for a moment, amused. Afterwards, it simply shook its head, and then allowed itself to slump forwards, where it lay still.

...

After about ten seconds, Wiffleball shot back up, disoriented and very confused. Wasn't he just under a rock? Who were all these new people? Did something big happen while he was out? While running around like a panicked idiot pondering these important questions, though, he ended up accidentally smacking into Otto's back. It wasn't painful for either of them, but it did get the otter's attention.

Viridis looked at the wound. It was very small compared to Malii's size, but it must have hurt. "It does not look... like a terrible wound. You should be okay." She thought maybe a distraction would help ignore the pain. "What is your... name, little Tursai?" She could tell Malii was young because of her voice.

Crab had an idea, so wonderful he could have wept in amazement. First, Gyx disappeared, and reappeared below deck. Second, he summoned two harpoons. He hurled one at the Tursai, in the spot where the old harpoon had just been removed. Then, it appeared next to Noctimus, set the other harpoon underneath his paws, and gave him two head rubs. Then he aapeared below deck, right back where it was on the confused Gyx's head, reading a book titled ".... --- .-- / -.-. .-. .- -... ... / -.-. --- -- -- ..- -. .. -.-. .- - ."

Meritursa's tail raises in front of Malii's head, his thick carapace deflecting the weakly thrown weapon.  Though he was still cautious about the larvae, he refused to stand by while she was hurt.  He would have to deal with the fish-creatures later.

Viridis quickly turned her head only to see another harpoon being fired at the Tursai. At the same spot, too! Luckily, Meritursas deflected the harpoon before it hit. She didn't see who fired it, so she thought it must have been Gyx again. She was gonna have a real big word with him once she got back on the boat.

Famen stood in front of Gyx in case he threw another harpoon. "Hello Malii. My name is Famen. Right now, we need to head to a coral reef to cure our friend's poison. So if you don't mind..." Famen said to Malii, as Jaw was not going to get better anytime soon.

Meritursas nods in agreement with Famen.  The little Tursai would have to be watched carefully; he wouldn't let it try anything.

"stay next to me."  He tells it, swimming to the back of the ship and picking it up carefully.  "which direction...is a reef?"

Gyx looked confused that he was suddenly underneath the deck. He felt insecure, so he removed Crab from his head and started petting him for reassurance.

Crab, on the other hand, looked just as uncomfortable once Gyx started petting him.

A small little smile grew on Malii's face.

"thank you viridis! and to answer your question, i am currently a lapsi."

The smile quickly grew when she heard Meritursas speak.

"oh! okay!"

Malii swam right next to him.

Gilda knelt by Jaw's side. Not sure of what to do. "CAN WE HURRY IT UP HERE!" She's not a happy fish.

---------

Wheke tries to be brave as the sea monster screams. Ink dribbles from his/her mouth. "I agree with the scary fish lady! We need to go." Wheke sprays ink everywhere as s/he talks.

(*continues screaming at gyx/wxps*)

Dragon had tried to snap at both Gyx and the devil of a blue crab, but they both vanished in the nick of time, and her attention immediately snapped to the shooty hurty anchor thing that was still on deck. She ripped it out from under the small shadow's paws, threw it into the ocean, and went "FUS RO DAH" froze it for good measure. Her tail waved angrily as she hissed again at the object.

Kate continued to cower and be confused.

Gyx walked to the side of the deck.

"Lghk, Yghm Srghy Ygh Thrgh Gh Hrghprghn ght ygh. Ygh thght yrgh wghs ghn ghvghl sgh-snghk." Gyx apologized to the giant Tursai. Crab looked at Noctimus, then the angry dragon. Then the cowering fire-girl. It looked like it laughed, though it couldn't produce auditory noises.
