Wave after Wave

(Technically, she already has a name, it just doesn't translate into any human tongue. So anything you guys decide to call her is fine.)

Kate got tired of rubbing Silven's belly and instead turned her attention to the commotion that was going on with the orange talking dog. Apparently he had gotten sick with something, and now the others where trying to figure out what to do. She watched from a distance.

Meanwhile, Dragon was poking through all the sea shells Syndir dropped, looking for any shinys.

Silven sat himself up. Well this was the second time this has happened and there must be a clear explanation for it. The Marked one and the Markless creature that was looking through the objects that Markless Syndir dropped must both be the head of an elaborate organization whose task is to find out others weaknesses. They seemed well trained, he should make sure to not make them the angry. Which meant he needed the Marked one to be the happy, and so he decided to get up and perform the mandatory hug on the Marked one. This should do it.

Wheke picks up some shells and heads back to Jaw and Gilda. "We still need a few things that we can't get here. We need to go to a reef."

"That'll cure him?..."

"We need stuff from there and some flowers!"

"Go ask for help, I'll make sure he doesnt move too much..."

"We should have sucked the poison out when he got bitten, oh well." Wheke goes off to find someone to help find flowers. "HEY I NEED HELP"

Gilda looked at Jaw. Sure she liked him but would she suck poison out of a bite? Probably not... Her skin was sensitive and was having a hard enough time in this environment... She was already feeling dry, no point in accidentally swallowing poison and adding to that. She should see the lizard about dehydration again...

"What do you need help with?" Kate called out, still being hugged.

~~~~~~~~
Dragon frowned in disappointment. None of these shells the Syndir humans found were sufficiently shiny. Thus, at that moment, she embarked on a quest, a quest to find the biggest, shiniest, most extravagant and awe inspiring shell on this side of the ocean, a shining jewel that would be the envy of any dragon! This expedition would go down in dragon history. Great ballads and poems and tales told down from generation to generation would recount the epic quest of this one brave dragon, but the cost to her would be great. Surely such a feat would span decades, taking her above jagged mountains and cliffs, over great oceans and rolling meadows, through ancient forests pocketed with emerald glades, scanning hundreds, no, thousands of pearly white beaches-
Or she could step on it by accident after walking for 34.8 seconds. That works too.
The shell she stumbled upon was the same shiny blue one Syndir had ignored earlier. Satisfied, she stuffed it into her shiny pouch.
Angelle ran on board the ship as Meri was pushing it back to sea.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Famen stumbled across Noctimus, Wiffeball, and...the 'Thing of Sight' or whatever Meri called it. Wiffleball's demon was staring blank eyed at the opened up potato. Was that what he looked like when he did that? Famen decided not to interrupt and quietly took a seat next to Noctimus, petting his head.

The survivors of the attack on Crab Kingdom all huddled underwater. They clacked their claws, unaware as what to do with a destroyed kingdom and monster on the loose. They turned to their noble king--

But he was gone without a trace...

Gyx felt something atop his head, and looked up. He saw Crab sleeping like a baby. He let out a happy gurgle and pet Crab's light blue shell twice, before climbing up the boat.

Once Gyx looked away, Crab secretly gave Otto a death stare.

Curling into a ball did nothing to help. For what little protection it gave, Wiffleball? was still both hopelessly outnumbered and outmatched. Pain rippled through his whole body as the shadows ripped deep gashes into his back, hooting and jeering with every swipe. Overwhelmed, he began slipping into a dark void of unconciousness, yet struggled as hard as he could to keep himself awake. Through failing vision, he watched as the shadows closed their ring around him, and he felt a tearing sensation unlike any other before he finally slipped away.

. . .

. . .

?
A faint buzzing noise brought Wiffleball? back to reality, and he slowly opened his eyes to find that he was completely alone. He had no idea how long he had spent in his stupor, but the shadows that had once surrounded him were long gone. He tried to stand, but a fresh shot of pain surged through his back, forcing him to drop back down onto the beach. He felt weak and helpless, but...maybe he could muster enough energy for a single teleport. To where, he didn't know, but it would be better than just bleeding out where he lay.
---

Noctimus nuzzled Famen's leg.

Silven ended the mandatory hug. There was no retaliation so he must have done it right. His attention went to the Markless creature running towards the object that Markless Tursai of huge origin was pushing. "Are we departing from the terrain at this moment? Should we not assist the Markless one asking for help?" he asked as he looked back to the Marked one.

Wiffleball kept an unnaturally tight hold on the potato, even when being carried.

- - -

Wiffleball? racked his mind thinking of a place, but couldn't come up with anything.

(The potato subplot should be over soon. Sorry for the snail's pace so far.)
