Issue title

Game Crashes whenever I start a new game


Steps to reproduce

1. Start game
2. Click Play
3. Click New Game
4. Select Wilson since you haven't unlocked anybody else.
5. Click Play
6. Screen goes black for about 2-3 seconds, then game closes.


Describe your issue

Whenever I try to start a new game it goes black for a few seconds and than closes.

Things I've done to try to troubleshoot:
1. Manually updated my graphics card drivers (I.E. went to nvidia's website and downloaded the most current drivers for my Geforce 670)
2. Exited and reopened steam.
3. Uninstalled and reinstalled.
4. Enabled and disabled Cloud.
5. Went into offline mode.
6. Restarted Computer.
7. Prayed.
8. Submitted a bug report.

After reviewing bug reports of others suffering similar issues I have now attempted the following, to no avail:

1. Going into the Don't starve folder and manually installing the DirectX executable as well as the C++ executable.

2. Running Steam in Administrator mode

3. Running Don't Starve in compatibility mode for Windows XP

We aren't seeing anything that stands out.

Are you having issues with any other games? Have you tried the demo?

Also, can you attach an mdmp file for us? (Find that here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dont_starve\bin\)

Finally, does it still happen after you start a new world?

Generating a new world seems to have fixed the problem, which is odd as I tried generating a new world as one of my first troubleshoots to no avail. Perhaps one of the things I did earlier plus generating a new world worked?
