Eating via the hunger meter?

That is to say, dropping food onto the food icon in the HUD. Occasionally I've found myself having to get out of the way of trees or other obstructions in order to feed myself. Could we perhaps have the option of dropping food on our hunger percentage instead? (This was actually the very first way I attempted to eat in-game.)

Simultaneously, I've noticed you can't feed yourself in darkness - I understand you're meant to not see anything, but you can't hit your own mouth whilst running from the creatures of madness?

ive eaten in the dark before (you cant run, and you have to eat right after it hits you)

You can just right click the food you want to eat.

Wait have you been dragging your food to your character? If so I had no idea you could do that. You can just right-click on the food in your inventory including inside your backpack to eat. Dragging the food to your character or the hunger icon just makes things harder.

The right click behaviour isn't exactly intuitive. At the very least, I'd appreciate this for when I pick up food from the crockpot, with a full inventory, that I want to eat. A little less juggling would be nice.

Don't worry, it happens even to the best of us! For the longest time I never realized I could rotate the game's view.
