Been going through this whole thread to try to find a solution to this. Other people have mentioned it as well. Things I tried: Double checking every step of making the mod Verifying integrity of game files Running from cmd as admin Using helperfile (compiler.cmd) The animation files and everything else looks perfect, compiles in as it should. But after clicking Enable, the game first goes to a completely black screen and does nothing (doesn't issue crash report). Then when you next load in the game you start at the mod warning screen, clicking I Understand makes game go to black and windows issues a report that Don't Starve has stopped working. The problem seems to have been with having a save file with esctemplate character. So my solution: Do small thing in character, like changing the names everywhere *Additional step: Delete the .zip file in anim folder, delete .zip file in exported->esctemplate; use autocompiler.exe in DS Mod Tools Launch game and start new save file to test mod Delete save file after testing and quit game Repeat Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Vinquin Posted March 8, 2018 Share Posted March 8, 2018 Fail! Every time I try I fail! I have failed so many times and I have no idea what the fix is. I pinpointed the problem to the step in the beginning where you have to ctrl + shift + f and do the thing where you replace all escteplates with your character name. I tested everything up to that point and it was fine. When I tried ESCTEMPLATE it had 0 hits in 0 files. and when I tried esctemplate it had either changed 67-69 files and it was different every time. Can someone please help me? I was opening DS to test to see if I managed to change all the file names and character names properly but I've run into an odd problem. Every time I try and enable the mod I either get a black screen or I make it to the screen where they ask if I understand that I am using a mod only to not be able to hit "I understand". My game just completely closed out at clicking "I understand".... used this same tutorial a while back and it still didn't work. also, when you were supposed to get 33 files remade or something like that at the beginning, where you have the lowercase and caps esctemplate, I both had 0 and or 34...definitley doing something wrong, though i've copied everything Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
