I can confirm that Shank 1 for Mac downloads nicely via Steam, but the game crashes at the end of the opening cutscene. I see a brief flash of the upper left stats graphics before the game crashes. I've verified the game cache files. Here's are the last few lines before the crash from the game.log file. I downloaded Shank from Steam, using a code that was given to me, and it still crashes after the opening cutscene.

How Savvy are you with your Steam client? Would you be interested in running a debug build of Shank? We want to resolve this issue if we can, but we're unable to figure out why it happens. We've tried reproducing the error on Machines with identical hardware and OSX builds and can't seem to do it. So we're not sure why a small segment of people hit this issue yet.The "Thread 1 Crash" unfortunately doesn't provide enough information to even begin looking at why or how it failed. So, if we find someone that this is happening to 100% of the time and run a debug build, there's a chance we might get a more useful error from OSX.

Not much but I am willing to resolve this. I know this game is good and I really don't want to give up on this.

I'm experiencing the exact same issues on MacBook Pro 2.2Ghz i7 with 8GB ram. I've tried a whole lot of different resolutions and seem to get the same issue each time. I also got Shank 2 through the humble bundle yesterday and am getting the same crash when I try and start a new game.

I also bought Shank 2 from Humble Bundle lol. It does the exact same thing. Crash right after the opening cutscene.

To anyone experiencing this problem on Mac: please download the "update 3" package from Humble Bundle. Start the game and post the contents of <username>/Library/Klei/Shank2/rendering.log file. This will help us pin down the cause of this issue.

I bought this game in December and still haven't been able to play it. I have attempted to contact anyone who seems like they would know anything since the Klei website isn't the least bit helpful in the support arena. No response. I have a macbook pro and it crashes just after the difficulty selection screen. Nobody has ever responded to any of my inquiries. Why release a game for a platform if it doesn't even work?

Unfortunately we still do not have a solution to this as no new additional information is available. We can't find a common computer setup, configuration or conflict between the crashes, and the Mac OSX error code of "Thread 1 Crash" unfortunately doesn't mean anything useful.

If you are having the "Thread 1 Crash" there are currently 2 options.

1) Request a refund.

2) We have compiled a debug version of Shank that might give us a better idea about why it crashes on your machine. If you would like to help us test it, please contact us with this form and let us know.

May I ask if you have a controller/joystick plugged into your computer? If you do, can you try unplugging it and see if that makes a difference?
