Menu buttons inoperable - can't play

Steps to reproduce

Double click the game icon on my computer's desktop to start game.

Describe your issue

I bought the game on steam and I can't play it. The start screen shows up and I can click the "forum" and "notify me" buttons but not the "play", "settings", or "more games" buttons. They don't even light up when I roll over them like the other two buttons do. Is there something I have to do to gain access to the beta other than buying the game on steam or is this a bug?

Oh, and there is no number at the bottom of the screen when I start the game. There's just one screen and the only number on it is the one saying the next update is in 6 days.

I have been having the same problem and i just bought the game today. However u can click on the play button u just have to move your mouse to the far right and it will highlight. i believe it is an issue of not sensing the mouse correctly in the game. Also i have been having a problem trying to go Full screen. my game just minimizes and wont come back up when i click on it :/

I have the same problem, and am also running the steam version. Once I do get it started, everything is shifted to the right, as in to sense a berry bush for example, my mouse cursor has to be over beside it to the right about an inch before it recognizes the bush as there.

Figured out how to fix it (worked on my computer anyways). I went to the settings menu (by clicking an inch to the right of the button like you said) and enabled the fullscreen option and selected a different resolution size and it works properly now. Not sure if it was putting it in fullscreen, adjusting the resolution, or doing both that fixed it but the problem's resolved now. Hope this works for you guys too if you haven't figured it out already.

I tried this but when I went into full screen mode, the window just disappeared, and would not maximize from being minimized.

EDIT: Retried this method again and just got a black screen.

I had this problem. If you can't fix it in game, another solution is to load up it's local folder on your computer, look for a file called "settings". When you click into it will bring up a notepad. Set it's window height and width to 800x600.

Do you have a controller plugged in currently? If so, exit the game > unplug your controller > then launch the game once more to see if that makes a difference.

 

Also, while in the main menu, try using the directional and enter keys on your keyboard to see if that allows you to navigate the menu buttons. If that works go to Options -> Controls -> and ensure that Controls are set to "Keyboard and Mouse" and not a controller. You can also use Reset to revert your settings to their default values.
