Pause Game Issue

Steps to reproduce

Playing game on Steam, pressed ESC to pause.

Describe your issue

I was playing on Steam, around Day 6, when I pressed ESC to pause my game so that I could answer the phone. When I returned, my character was dead and the screen showing how many days I had survived was locked up. I had to press CTRL+ALT+DEL to close the game out so that I could restart.

I mentioned this to a friend of mine that plays on Steam also, and he said that he died once when he could have sworn that he had his game paused also.
