Don't Starve won't start up on Ubuntu 13.10 [Crash]

I looked around a bit and couldn't find a similar bug report... I can't start Don't Starve from Steam under Linux (Ubuntu). It has worked before and it might have something to do with the release of Ubuntu 13.10. After clicking play the game will flash on screen then close. My steam friends have reported that it looks like I'm playing the game for half a second then stopping.

Memory: 11.6GB
CPU: Intel Core i7-3687U CPU
Graphics: Intel Ivybridge Mobile x86
Running Ubuntu 13.10

It's working again. Not sure why. 

 

Glad to hear that. We pushed a hotfix today to fix this, so I guess it worked! :)

There are no error messages. Whenever I start it up, the game pops up for a second, then goes away. My other games work perfectly.

Was the game ever starting up properly for you?

On another pc yes. On this one nope.

I kept trying to click and click and click and after 8 to 12 times starting the game in a row finally the game starts...how strange..there must be something wrong but I don't understand what.....

that trick with startin over and over then worked for me too

ingame i wanted to setup my logitech xbox-like controller and realized that that somehow autotriggers so i cant reconfigure the buttons.

 

so i exit the game, unplug the controller and voila. Game starts every time!

On another pc yes. On this one nope.

I kept trying to click and click and click and after 8 to 12 times starting the game in a row finally the game starts...how strange..there must be something wrong but I don't understand what.....

 

I'm not trying on another pc. But it happens the same thing with me and then, the game crashes after ten, fifteen minutes.

This looks to be an issue with your video cards not quite meeting the minimum requirements for the game.

Hello! Kind of same problem here.

It use to work properly last week, but since a few day, the game crash when starting it.

YET It starts properly sometimes

And tried the "force_s3tc_enable=true steam" command , here's what i get :
